Dragon's of the Silver Trilogy Pt1

3 November 2016

Hey guys! It's been a while since I updated this book, so I decided to put something in it that would be quite interesting. This little excerpt is a detailed description of the dragons from the Silver Trilogy. It involves their species, rarity, characteristics, powers, strengths, weaknesses, what their equilibrium would be, and what mastery of their element would look like, as well as any other interesting information. This chapter holds the ten more common species, and in Pt2 I'll do the rarer/extinct species.  This was actually quite fun to do, so I hope you find it interesting as well. Feel free to ask questions if confused.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fire

Rarity: Common

Category: Energy

Characteristics: A medium sized dragon. They have red scales that vary from light to dark, and have a yellow underbelly. There eyes, like most dragons, are yellow and they have small spines running down the length of their back to the tip of their tail. At thirty years old a fire dragon would be around the size of a large car. They have two straight horns on the back of their head and rather hard scales that can be difficult to penetrate if the right weapons aren't used.

Powers: A fire dragons main ability is to be able to breath fire. Other abilities include being able to have infra-red vision, allowing them to see heat, and heat themselves up. Powerful fire dragons are able to set themselves alight with flame and manipulate and control fire around them.

Strengths: Fire is a very destructive element, often considered the most destructive out of the twenty different types of dragons. It has the ability to spread and slowly degrade buildings, forests and even cities, while also being able to cause large explosions. A rather weak fire dragon could level an entire city through starting with one building. All they would need to do is fan the flame.

Weaknesses: Because fire is used so often and is so well known, it is general knowledge to know the basics behind how to stop it. Mostly this is through using water, or cooling it down. Because of this water dragons are often able to defeat a fire dragon.

Equilibrium: This is considered the most destructive equilibrium, being nearly unstoppable in its power. At this point a fire dragon becomes fire, in its very essence, a raging inferno with unlimited potential. The fire can shift and change like most equilibriums, and if a fire dragon has control they can even become almost solid. Like this they are impossible to touch with physical attacks.

Mastery: To master fire a dragon has to be able to control fire with their mind to the utmost level. They should be able to do almost anything with it, from creating near solid objects to making explosions in midair. A master of fire would be able to create flames with their thoughts, and anywhere they wish to, such as inside another being.

Other: Most fire dragons have a famous temper that, when provoked, can lead them into making rash decisions. However, this temper also increased the heat and power of their fire, making them formidable. They are also the most common dragon.

Earth

Rarity: Common

Category: Physical

Characteristics: A green dragon with scales that range from murky, swampy green to a foresty green. They have a brown, rocky underbelly and large scales that are extremely hard. They are often considered the biggest dragon, and at thirty years old they are around the size of a small 22-seeter bus. They have small brown spikes on their back, ranging from their neck to their tail. At the end of their tail is a large spiked ball that can be used to crush and break most objects. On the back of their head are two ram like horns.

Powers: Earth is often considered the most diverse element, because of the amount of things it can do. These include, but are not limited to: breathing rock in different forms, using and breathing sand and dirt, manipulation of plants and trees. Powerful earth dragons can manipulate and change the ground around them and make it do their bidding.

Strengths: Earth dragons are often very strong and steadfast, as hard to move as the earth around them. Because of this they are often very difficult to defeat in battle, as they are incredibly strong. The diversity of their element also allows them to continue to surprise their opponent in multiple ways.

Weaknesses: Because they are so large it also makes them very heavy and far more awkward in the air then other dragons. They are also the slowest dragon, making them easy targets for attack. The dragon that would be considered its weakness would be dragons that can take a unphysical form, such as shadow or spirit dragons.

Equilibrium: At this point an earth dragon becomes one with the ground. It is considered the easiest equilibrium to control, some even manage it on the first try. They have destructive capabilities and can create massive earthquakes or rise into the air as mountains, and create ravines. When they are in equilibrium, anything touching the ground is in danger.

Mastery: Earth is considered the most difficult element to master, simply because of how diverse it is. A master of earth would be able to do pretty much anything to earth around him/her, and also use anything inside the earth. This includes anything from lava and even metal. They could create forests in an instant and the earth itself would obey them.

Other: Most earth dragons are content to learn only one aspect of their element, and can be quite dull at times. They are often considered the most dangerous dragon to fight head on.

Wind

Rarity: Common

Category: Physical

Characteristics: A very light, creamy brown dragon that is one of the smaller species. At thirty it would be the size of the average car. It has the largest wings of any dragon, allowing them great ability in the sky. They have a long tail and are rather wirily. As far as scales go, they are relatively weak and are very smooth, making them more aerodynamic. They don't have any spines on their back and have two straight horns on their head.

Powers: Wind dragons can breath large gusts of wind that can reach very high speeds and strength, enough to knock planes and other dragons out of the sky. Powerful wind dragons can create gusts of wind with parts of their body and can even manipulate it to create tornados and hurricanes.

Strengths: Wind dragons are very fast, the second fastest species of dragon. They are very aerodynamic and can often perform manoeuvres other dragons can't. This makes them very difficult to hit and attack. Their control of the wind also makes it hard for other dragons to pursue and fight them in the air.

Weaknesses: The nature of their element makes it very difficult for them to kill other dragons... most of the time. Their softer scales also makes them susceptible to injuries and if a dragon is able to catch them, they are rather easy to take down as they lack natural strength. Their weakness are steadfast elements that are difficult to move, such as earth and metal.

Equilibrium: At this point a wind dragon becomes the sky. They are practically an invisible force of wind, that can create major devastation. It is impossible to escape this equilibrium, as air is everywhere. They can become a massive tornado, or a wind storm, or a hurricane of wind. The wind strength is unending and is has been known for dragons that have reach this point to uproot mountains and send them crumbling through the air.

Mastery: A master of wind would be able to control the element to its utmost. This would involve being able to create sharp slashes of wind that could cut through most objects. They would be able to create wind strong enough to crush creatures and they would be able to take the oxygen one breathes, causing it to suffocate. They would also be able to separate the particles that are in the air and used each one in certain ways.

Other: Wind dragons are considered by most to be the weakest species of dragon, but they are also usually rather intelligent, using what they know of their element to great advantage.

Water

Rarity: Common

Category: Physical

Characteristics: The colour of their scales range from sea blue to a deep dark blue. They would be a similar size to a fire dragon but are far more slender with large wings, a long almost eel like tail with a rather smooth back, with small spines running to the end of their tail. Their feet are webbed and their eyes are often a blue colour instead of the usual yellow. They have two 'S' shaped horns on the back of their head.

Powers: A water dragon can breath a torrent of water that can vary in what it does depending on the dragon's aim. They can be fired at high enough pressures to cut through wood and some metals, or breath a large torrent that can not back and even drown enemies. Powerful water dragons can control water around them and breath a very high pressured water stream. They can also breath underwater.

Strengths: Water can be used in many ways, allowing a water dragon to trick, blind and kill any opponent in multiple ways. There ability to breath underwater makes the ocean their natural habitat, and while under the water they have a huge advantage.

Weaknesses: Water can be difficult to control, because of its wild ways. Also, like fire, it is well known and easy to counter. Dragon's such as ice dragons can easily counter its ways. They also aren't incredibly strong in a physical fight, often making them easy to fight head on. They are also weak against electricity, as it passes through water rather easily.

Equilibrium: A water dragon becomes as dangerous as the ocean. They become a large body of water that can even float in the air and can be guided in many ways. They can create whirlpools and tidal waves, and if a water dragon of equilibrium enters the ocean, they have near unlimited access across the entire globe. It would be as though the ocean fell from the sky.

Mastery: A master of water would be as dangerous as the ocean itself. They would control the most powerful force on the face of the earth, beings able to create tidal waves with a flick of their wings. They would also be able to control any drop of water around them, no matter what form it took, from ice to vapour. They would also be able to breath water in any form. This also includes the blood inside other beings.

Other: Water dragons, despite how common they are, are often a quite elusive species, choosing the safety of the ocean over the land. This often makes them hard to track and even harder to find.

Electricity/Lightning

Rarity: Uncommon

Category: Energy

Characteristics: There scales range from a dirty yellow to a lighter yellow. They often are covered in star-like orange specs all over their body. They are around the same size as a fire dragon. They have a line of spikes running down their back and a spear like tip at the end of their tail. Their wings are quite different as well, and instead of having bat-like wings, as do most dragons, they have jagged wings that look almost as if they have spikes coming off the back.

Powers: Lightning dragons breath a bolt of lightning that can electrify, stun and occasionally kill. They can send electrical charges through their body of varying strength. They can use their lightning to travel extremely fast for short amounts of time. Powerful lightning dragons can summon lightning from the sky and create lightning around them.

Strengths: Lightning dragons are considered the fastest species of dragon for short distances, making them hard to hit and creating quick getaways if need be. They also are able to punish anyone that touches them, as any dragon that physically touches them gets electrocuted. Lightning is also incredibly difficult to block and dodge, as it travels at fast speeds.

Weaknesses: While lightning is great for attack it makes a horrible defence, and often can't block attacks very well, making the lightning dragon rely more on speed and agility then strength. A lightning dragon's weakness would be elements that can break up the attacks to lessen the strength, such as earth, ice and water.

Equilibrium: At this point a lightning dragon would become a living-breathing storm, but instead of raining water it would be raining lightning strikes. Like this a dragon can travel at extreme speeds and can virtually strike from anywhere at any time, being completely made from lightning. If this equilibrium revealed itself it would be like a massive ball of yellow electricity that could disappear into the ground, any clouds and travel through metallic structures.

Mastery: To master lightning a dragon would need to be able to control the charge of molecules and atoms around them. They would be able to create lightning from nothing, and change its speed and focus at a moments notice. They would be able to control lightning storms, and channel their power through others.

Other: There is a rare species of lightning dragon that instead of having yellow scales and lightning has dark blue/purple scales and breathes a dark lightning. These dragons are often far more powerful then average.

Ice

Rarity: Uncommon

Category: Physical (Though this is under debate)

Characteristics: An ice dragon's scales are a very light, icy blue colour that can make one feel cold just by looking at them. They are a similar size to a fire dragon and have a line of long, dangerous looking spikes on their back. A frill of horns occupies their head, almost like a crown and they usually have eyes that match the colour of their scales. They often have a lighter underbelly that is almost white.

Powers: An ice dragon uses its ability to steel energy from its surroundings and create solid chunks of ice that it can use to its advantage. They can breath a very cold wind as well as icicles and snow. They are able to freeze most liquids and powerful ice dragons are capable of freezing gases and particles in the air, as well as hardening their scales with ice. They can throw spikes and other things from their body as well.

Strengths: Ice is another very diverse element and it can be used to continually surprise and confuse opponents. It has a great defence and a strong offence, allowing an ice dragon to switch between the two quickly and efficiently. They can weaken dragons by freezing limbs or can kill them quickly with sharp blades. Their element can be both physical and non-physical, allowing them to use their element to the weakness of others quite well.

Weaknesses: An ice dragon's weakness is heat, in any way, shape or form. This makes them far weaker in hot and humid climates and also makes them very susceptible to both fire and light dragons.

Equilibrium: An ice dragon's equilibrium is a mass of snow, ice and wind. It would be like a living snow storm, but instead of snow, it would have chunks of ice and freezing winds rushing through it. If under control an ice dragon can choose to have a solid or none solid form, and is able to move much like a wind equilibrium. Temperatures drop to quite near the coldest temperature possible, and any living thing that enters doesn't usually survive.

Mastery: A master of ice would be able to freeze anything at any time with their thoughts. Everything around them would be cold, ice cold. They would be able to create icicles from the air around them and move these objects with ease. A master of ice could look at a dragon and freeze them in a near unbreakable cacoon, or even freezing a dragon's blood.

Other: There is a rare species of ice dragon that is pure white and often is able to use their powers to a far higher level then most other ice dragons.

Acid

Rarity: Uncommon

Category: Physical

Characteristics: These dragons have dark green scales, a similar colour to moss. They are a smaller species of dragon, around the same size as a wind dragon. They usually have splashes of colour around their legs, either yellow, red, light green, purple and pink. They have two smaller horns on the back of their head and a scorpion-like barb on the end of their tail.

Powers: Acid dragons have the ability to spit a green acid that can melt through most anything. They can vary the strength of the acid so that it just causes pain or burns instead of melting anything it touches. Powerful acid dragons can control acid around them, able to move the liquids with their mind instead of breathing them. Also, they can inject a potent poison through their tail if given the chance. It can kill if enough is ejected.

Strengths: Acid dragons are considered one of the more dangerous species of dragon, and even if they are defeated their poison and acid can cause large amounts of damage over time. This makes many others very cautious in battle. Their acid is quite strong and causes extreme pain, and also can weaken other dragons very easily.

Weaknesses: Despite their dangerous element, acid dragons have very little defence and can often be defeated quite easily if they make a mistake. Also, if they come across a dragon that makes their poison and acid useless, they are rather easy. This makes them weak toward metal, shadow and spirit dragons.

Equilibrium: At this point an acid dragon becomes an ocean of acid. Much like a water equilibrium, the acid is able to move and flow anywhere, melting anything and anyone in its way. It makes it rather destructive and whenever this happens it is not uncommon for the land afterwards to be completely devoid of life. The acid is also able to form into a mist, allowing it to travel into almost any area, not that the acid couldn't eat its way anywhere it wanted to go either.

Mastery: A master of acid would be able to create it from nothing, and wield it with deadly position. They would be able to create a mist from the acid and spread it over large areas, killing anything that enters. They would also be able to control the acidity of their element, making it so it is barely an acid to stronger then any acid known to man.

Other: The colours presented by an acid dragon are usually warn by poisonous animals, as a way to warn off other creatures of their danger.

Telekinetic

Rarity: Uncommon

Category: Mental

Characteristics: These dragons have scales varying from a dark brown to a sandy brown. They are a large species of dragon, at thirty they would be the size of a small caravan. They have two straight horns on their head and a smaller one on their nose. Along their back is a row of sharp spines, accompanied by a very sharp spiked tail. They have rather thick scales that can be very hard to break through.

Powers: Telekinetic dragons can warp their surroundings with their minds, able to move and change the structure of objects mentally. They can also do this too organics, though it is far harder. Powerful telekinetic dragons can warp an object, changing its shape a structure. The stronger the will of the dragon the greater their power.

Strengths: The nature of the power makes it very difficult to fight telekinetic dragons. They can do multiple things to their opponents to weaken or stop their attacks. On top of that, they are also a very physically strong dragon, and can take a lot of damage before falling. They are often considered one of the hardest dragons to take down.

Weaknesses: Despite the overwhelming strength of these dragons they are also incredibly vulnerable to certain elements. Their telekinetic powers work well on solid and physical objects, but they are unable to stop energy such as fire, lightning, life, shadow, light, void and chaos. Also, because their abilities rely in strength of will an opponent with a stronger will can often break out of their mental hold.

Equilibrium: This is considered one of the most dangerous equilibriums from dragon kind, because of the fact it is invisible. At this point a telekinetic dragons becomes an invisible force that is nearly impossible to detect. Very similar to the wind equilibrium, except for the fact that it can crush and break objects apart. It is a very violent equilibrium and creatures caught within are instantly ripped to pieces.

Mastery: A master of telekinesis would be able to control nearly everything around them. They could rip apart the earth or call down rain, solidify liquid into ice. Their extent of their ability is they are able to control other dragons, making them do whatever they wish in a way that seems very similar to mind control. This can go further to them crushing organics with ease.

Other: Despite being the most common of the mental species, they are often very rarely seen by other creatures.

Mind

Rarity: Rare

Category: Mental

Characteristics: Mind dragons are a light creamy blue and are often considered one of the smaller species, around the same size as a wind dragon. They have a rather plain look, with smaller then average wings and a slightly scrawny body. Often considered on average to be the smallest species, they have a wirily tail and two horns on their head. There are no spines on their back and have the least dangerous look.

Powers: The power of the mind is also quite diverse. Mind dragons are able to manipulate the minds of others and look into what they're thinking as well as their memories. They can make others see things that aren't there, take control of beings with a weaker will. Powerful mind dragons can also make others feel, touch, smell and taste things that aren't there as well, making illusions seem much more real.

Strengths: A mind dragon's mental abilities make them difficult to combat. They are always one step ahead of their opponent and are able to see their every manoeuvre before it happens, allowing them to predict easily. Any illusions can also cause confusion and can make dragons experience pain, pleasure or simply just be a distraction.

Weaknesses: Most mind dragons lack physical abilities and while their powers over the mind are useful they are, mostly, unable to cause any finishing blows like other dragons again. Their weaker bodies make them easy to defeat in an all out fight, but unlike most dragons, they don't have a specific element as their weakness. Also, dragons with a greater willpower have the upper hand in fights.

Equilibrium: A mind dragon's equilibrium is both the weakest and the most powerful. When they become one with the mind they create an area around them where they have complete control. That area becomes their mind. Any illusion they create becomes real. When a dragon enters this area, they are entering this mind dragon's mind. However, unlike most dragons, this equilibrium has a great weakness. A mind dragon still is in their physical form as the 'conscious' of this newly formed mind. Like most equilibriums, this area can expand, contract and spread.

Mastery: A master of the mind would be able to control everything that the mind can do. They would be able to control what other dragons see, hear, taste and touch. They would be able to control how they move, what they think, even their heartbeat. A master of the mind would have control of any creatures' very thoughts, and be able to manipulate and take advantage of any weakness.

Other: Despite being the physically weakest dragon, mind dragons are the most feared.

Life

Rarity: Rare

Category: Energy

Characteristics: Life dragons are a light emerald green, with scales that often shine. They are a medium sized dragon, around the same size as a fire dragon, with slender bodies and delicate wings. They have large scales then most, much like a telekinetic dragon, and they can be quite difficult to break. A row of small spikes run down their neck and they have two straight horns on the back of their head.

Powers: Life dragons have power over life. They are able to heal and repair most wounds and steel the life force from other creatures. Powerful life dragons can completely drain the life from another, and into themselves. They are also able to heal themselves quickly of any injury, making them very difficult to defeat. This gives them longer life spans of most others.

Strengths: Their element, when used in a dangerous fashion, is considered the most dangerous of all. There is no defence against it, not even with a metal dragon's elronium, as it steels the life force of living things. Their hard scales and ability to heal themselves also makes them very defensible and extremely difficult to take down in a fight.

Weaknesses: While their element is very dangerous, it can only really hurt a dragon if they are trapped in it for a long time, or a slowly weakened by it over time, making it a rather slow element. This makes life dragons weak against creatures that are able to move quickly, such as void and electricity dragons. It can also be blocked by other energy dragons and is ineffective against non-living things.

Equilibrium: A life dragon's equilibrium, similar to most energy dragons, is a large excess of green energy. It can be both very dangerous and very helpful. Depending on what causes a life dragon to reach equilibrium it can either bring life and restoration, or cause death on a massive level. The green energy is much like fire in the way it moves, and the further it spreads the greater its power.

Mastery: A master of life would control life and death itself. They would be able to take the life force away from something in the blink of an eye, and then give it back again just as quickly. They would be able to bring things back to life even. Anything living would be under their whim, and they could draw their power from every living thing around them, including any enemies that they may be facing.

Other: Despite their power, life dragons are considered the most peaceful species. They do not often like getting into conflict with others and don't often get involved in fights. They are also considered the most beautiful species.
