The Princess of The Shadows

"Remember those days where no one ever spoke to you. Where everyone saw you for a mere second before you vanished. Where you were the mysterious vile on the run who did the unthinkable. Stealing, fighting, missions, and secret tasks. You could go on and on."

"But it's that one night that changed everything. I would steal, I would fight, I'll be gone before you have time to process the sight."

"Baby, the name's Shadōna. Well that's what everyone calls me. My real name is a secret to man. After all I'm man's worst enemy. I'm known with my Jade blazing eyes and starry midnight hair."

"Let me tell you from the beginning. At the start of my day."

"Shadona! An order tonight. How about you give us the legendary Miracle Diamond?  And the Earl Ruby of Mattius?  Do it your best and steal it from the opposing Luxie Delphi Agency." The leader's assistant came to explain. She was the founder and the one who founded me. My birth parents were unknown. I often think of them as no more.

"Samira, I can't wait" I smiled as I glanced at the assistant. She was a tall slender woman that had sienna almond hair, grey eyes, and black squarish glasses.  She was good at researching and telling hidden details.  She knew where every trap was and did background checks through entire buildings nights before I was going to go.  She scanned the perimeters and shut lasers off.  She was the technology expert.  Samira never gone outside the agency and left it up to me.

"Good Luck...though I'm sure you won't need it." I nodded in agreement before leaving her office.

Gadgets....Check.

Transmission devices....Check.

Ear pieces....Check.

Gloves and cloaks....Check

Popeyes.....Wait what? Why is this on the list.

Killer weapons.....Check

Everything was silent. I slipped into my black outfitter. Mask on. Only there were the lips and sapphire contacts I shown were visible.

"Let the Loathe control you, until you're in a deep aybss."

Memories. Those were the few I remember. The ones who birthed me would whisper, but if I try to remember anything more all thoughts would vanish. Those were the warnings I was given. Hatred would get the best of you, so put it behind.

Currently I'm 15. I'm in an Agency called the Twilight Shadow Rune. Some might call me a thief, while others call me a saver. I steal the stolen, and save it from getting in the wrong hands.

Jewels are legendary and behold secrets. They possess powers and if they are in the wrong hands they could be eternity destructive. Though my eyes they are the most magnificent piece of gem I'd ever seen. Our agency is good. We do everything in our power to save the world. There are others would are real thieves and have goals of evil. They want to corrupt the world and be in control. They want to rule the world. As cliche as it sounds, it's deadly and true. Having the most luxury and being in power is their dream. After I take it from the wrong hands, I use it.

Call me selfish, but I have no evil intention like some people Ahem! Ahem! Luxie Delphi Agency or LD for short. And what people think of me is in the eye of the beholder. Tonight is a silent night. I feel as if something is different from the rest of the nights. Usually people never see me long enough to find or stop me. I'm quick as the wind and disappear like the night. A few nights ago the wind whispered to me LD planned to steal them. And until then we planned to take it. And tonight was the lucky night we are ready to steal it before they do.

I was swift.

My mouth said nothing, but slyness.

I smirked as I looked out the window.

"Night.... here I come, Shadona become on.....For the princess of shadows is on the run..." I laughed before jumping out the window.

I jumped from roofs to roofs. Windows to windows. Faster than you could blink. Quicker than the wind. Disappearing like a shadow on the loose. Everyone knew of me, but never seen me. I was know as the princess as shadows.

There it is I thought. The Exterior's grounds. Clumps of sand and construction. Broken buildings and pits of doom. A ruined structure laid here with the hidden jewels. Several stories high. Several stories deep. It was time to enter.

I gripped my dagger and threw it straight across piercing the window glass shattering everywhere. Here's the entry gate.

Dust flew everywhere. It was quiet. Too quiet. Quieter than the night. I had to watch out. I grip my grappling hook just in case. Dagger in my left. Yeah I'm a lefty, big deal. I'm probably the only one in existence, but that makes me better and more surprising. Most people aim for my right. Bad move. Not only am I left handed, but my heart is on the left. It is a real thing. Dextrocardia, look it up when you get home. So instead of dying I live.

"Shadona........." The wind whispered my alias-code name. Lusamine Nerissa Sage was the name unknown to man. Only my friends know that. But the question still remains. Who is there? I swear if its just the darn wind keeping me on edge, it will be sorry.

There it is. The Earl Ruby of Mattius.

I found it.

"Samira I found the Earl Ruby of Mattius" Mattius was a man named well Mattius and had buildings and architecture named after. He then had riches and one of his famous was Earl Ruby of Mattius. It was known to have some special power.

"Wow....it is so amazing Samira you have to see this"

"Alright make sure you find the other one it should be right next to it on the other column." The other column? What but it is empty....was I too late?

No. I couldn't.

I couldn't possibly.

"Uhhmmmmm Samira the other column has nothing but dust on it. No Diamond lies on it. A-are you sure?" I thought I heard a gasp from the other line.

"Your never late! There no way....You were beaten Shadona hurry find the thief. Get it before they use it!"

"Of course I know what to-" Urhghhhhhh. What the....? I looked around a knife barely skinned me. Urk! Blood.....oh no...oh no! Don't look, don't look!

And you looked...........urk I'm gonna puke I swear.

"Bleghhhhhhk" I barfed fluids outta my mouth. Never in a hundred years I'd guess I would ever barf doing a mission.

"That is disgusting! Wow I don't think I believe it, I witness the princess of shadows throwing up! Her weakest point throwing up! Once I tell everyone then fa-Elder would let me do more things on my own!" So someone else was here. Wait where is the ear piece I used to hear Samira?

Oh no.

I quickly went to look in the dusty floors. Nothing. URK! Where is it?

"You know for being the princess of shadows you sure seem....I don't know like your not use to doing this?"

"Yeah I'm not used to people being here! You took it didn't you, well let me enlighten you. That diamond is going to caused misery for everyone and you will give it back if it's the last thing you do!" I stared at me and shock went over his face. But soon a smiled formed and he started laughing like a maniac. What? He's...he's laughing? Like me he was hiding his features. Half of his face was covered. A dark splotch covered his right eye while his half face remained untouched. He has silver eyes which I bet were contacts, no one had silver eyes.

"Pffffhahahah...Oh hoohahahah....Tahahahah! Wow say that again princess, I dare you to. Not only am I being bossed around by a girl, but the shadow princess. This is great! From what I see you did your not going to do anything to me and you're going to give me the ruby that you hold there!" I stood firm showing my best glare I frowned.

"Maybe when hell freezes over, but not now. You won't and-"

"I'll shoot you! Now give it." If he shoots me than I'll hold this ruby in front of me. Then the bullet will blast it into pieces.

"Okay....but you do realize how many people will be angered with you shooting me. I do much for people you don't know. I save them from agencies like yours!"

"Excuse me, but I'm not exactly a member that usually fights and stuff. I came on my own. I'm not giving it to the agency your thinking of. I'll use it for my own benefit. That way they will see true potential in me"

Oh Great Heavens!

He's lost it.

"You...seriously believe doing some stupid crap like that will help them see potential in you? Look not to get in your business, but they don't take anyone unless someone comes dead. And they get the best one. Doing that won't just do it. Listen they are evil, you shouldn't want to become one of them. I should know."

"Lucius!" A new voice was heard. From behind the silver eyed male appeared a taller leaner man. He looked like he knew what he was doing. "What are you doing here? The elder does not want you to do anything." Ohh.... so they already know each other.

"If you don't give me the diamond I'll shoot the ceiling causing the place to collapse and bury us underneath for eternity."

"Ohh, so the princess decides to appear. But wouldn't you die too?" That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

"First off don't call me princess. You make me sound young. It's Shadona" The tall man raised his eyebrows at this. Like I'd give out my real name. "It's a code. Like I actually give my real name. Now are you going to cooperate or are we going to do this the hard way?" He shook his head mocking me as well.

I gripped on my dagger.

Head on I ran straight at him with the dagger in my left.

"Arghhh" I groaned clenching my stomach. Blood was pouring out faster than a months' worth. He struck me with a knife. I was trained for this, but how? How did I do so miserable? I always fought before. I always gotten away.

Is this it? Am I being defeated? By knife sharp as diamonds.

The man slowly backed away. What? I still had the ruby....What was he doing?

"Goodbye Shadow Princess or should I say Shadona, I will shoot the top and it will come crashing down on top of you." The silver eyed looked at the man.

"Wait....what about me?" A scared look was in his eye. And this time it was real.

"Oh distract the princess and make sure she stays, I'll send your last words to your father. Oh you will be known as a hero, Lucius. Thank you for coming...."

"WHAT?! W-wait....I can't die. I'm too young. No! Please! S-stop!" He laughed at him. He shot the arches and buildings.

"Urghhhh....I...need.....to...get...urghhh...here"I breathed and I could barely move my lips. Before I had time to blink I was being taken.

Then enemy....they gotten me! I'm the worst.

I will be found out and die in shame.

But before I knew it I felt the night air on my skin.

I looked over and saw the silver eyed one.

"Y-you? But why?" Why did he help me? He gotten what he want. He'd be the one the agency lets in.

"That agency was willing to let me die. They would let me die. I just wanted to be as good as them. I wanted to be feared. I wanted to be a master. I wanted to know everything, but no they left me. I could of died! They don't care about life! Just as long as you do something honorable! How cruel! They were gonna kill you too! My goodness! I would never kill for no reason. You done no harm. You helped people. People admire you, I would know. I see a lot of things that many never see. Earlier when I said I'd shoot ya' I didn't mean it. Not one bit. I just thought you would get lit'l scared. In movies when people do that, people get scared and listen. I wasn't real'y gonna. Trust me....Hey why aren't ya' saying anything?" His heroic dreams are crushed. Wow. I didn't think they were capable of doing that.

"Please...Could you.... get the phone.... out of my bag" I breathed heavily. They got me good. I trained hard every day. I fought everyday. I thought I was prepared for everything but I failed. I thought I could dodge the blade. But they got me good in the stomach. I'm bleeding terribly. If he is actually good and just a child that wants to do something good. I hope he just gives me it.

"This?" He got my phone out. Now you may wonder why on earth do I have a phone with me on my secret agency missions, but let me tell you it is for emergencies like this one. I was registered as LNS. My beautiful initials.

"Go to contacts....call the one named Samira...." He did what I told him and soon Samira answered.

"Shadona? Is that you? We lost track of you half an hour ago. You lost your ear pieces didn't you, that's alright we have more back at the-"

"Samira! Help I'm injured...... Please can you get me? I don't think I can make it back, but could you come and get me. I know you don't like leave the office, but....I need your help." There were moments of silence for awhile.

"What? Your not lying....Don't worry I'm coming, but at least go to somewhere more sensible. Like a restaurant or alley." Of course. I'll try to get there. She ended the call.

"Shadona? You go by an alias too?" The silver eyed boy smiled shyly. He still seemed a little down that his hero ended up not being so heroic after all. "Ye'no I'm Lucius. I'm going to help you one last time. There is this place. Called Estonian Avenue. It's nearby with many alleys and restaurants. When ya' better you should come by there. Well actually we could go now and your friend can help you....."

Then there was silence.

We walked toward this place. I leaning on Lucius and he walked saying nothing."I'm sorry...." I broke the silence. He turned to me confused.

"What?"

"For the agency. You really liked them and I just-"

"Stop, it's fine besides now I know who's the real hero." He smiled again but this time he grinned like a possum in a pot. "It is better than before. Your my new hero...Shadona" I didn't know what to say. Yeah people thanked me. People didn't liked my methods. But they hated the Luxie Delphi Agency more than they disliked me. So they thanked me and cooperated. But here I done nothing but showed him the worst out of people and he calls me a hero. I did it for the world. I didn't care about my life because there is nothing worth living for. My parents? They are a joke. They didn't care about me.

"R....really?" He nodded. I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out. Speechless or something else. I couldn't speak, I felt all dizzy. I had a pounding headache. Was it from the attack? Then before I could do or feel anything else. I saw a figure. Samira. I am going home. "Goodbye..." I whispered and in an instance I was in the shadows.

Besides I haven't been fighting on the streets doing secret missions sense two years ago and neither have I felt the same. And for just practicing they think I should pretend to be normal. In a few days, my darling self is going to what you folks call high school. I'll be a junior, the second best. The second best....oh my lovelies here I come....."

Chapter 1.

"Lusamine!" Huh?  I snapped out of that daydream again.  I've been doing that a lot lately.  Actually I've been doing nothing lately.  Two years ago I failed my agency and nothing been the same.  I would've died that day.  I would've been left to the enemy.  Now I'm just around the agency.  Not only did I stopped doing missions, but the police was informed of their whereabouts and their location.  They relocated and haven't caused any trouble we know of.  "Lusamine!!" Latisha shouted at me again.  She had dark velvet hair and olive eyes.  She knew everything of me and this agency and swore secrecy.

"Yes?" I jumped up right away.

"Oh my god...Lusamine" Latisha shook her head laughing. "You know you have doing that a lot lately"

"It's not my fault....I just kinda miss it."

"Missions for the agency?"

"Yeah.  I was the only out there.  I was in the night and no one saw me.  I was like the mysterious woman that did the unthinkable.  I was hated and loved.  Thank about that.  I just want some change.  I've being homeschooled since I was 9.  The only thing I loved was missions and then I just failed.  I can't go back I have to train everyday until there are no mistakes and......"I sighed.  "Look at you with a normal life.  You go to school have friends.  You have parents.  And you know everything about my agency and the elders."

"Speaking of schools Samira and the others were thinking about you going to the same school I go to." She bit her lip and avoided my gaze.  What?

"Hold up!  I'm not being homeschooled no longer!  Darling, you should've told me sooner!  Some change!  Something new!  Ohh I can't wait.  And maybe I'll show them I'm mysterious at this school!"

"Whoa!" She jumped up.  "Wait....Before you get all excited they have rules and things you have to follow.  Very stupid ones.  Look I'll tell you everything tomorrow when you go."

"Oh okay."  I honestly couldn't wait.  I was gleaming with joy.  I read books where people hate school.  But honestly why would they?  They seem so fun.  Sure the teachers might not be.  But everything else seems so dramatic.  And my darlings I love dramatic.

"Oh and you might want to cover up your scars and other marks from your previous missions.  Or at least make up a believable excuse for what they are.  Like maybe rockclimbing or you feel off a tree and got scraped."

"Umm okay?  Why does it matter?  I'll just say I don't want to talk about it.  Besides your the only one who will talk to me."

"Yeah....but once there is a new student its big news."

I failed.  I can't do this.

Tears were pouring from my eyes.  I felt the same pain in my chest.

"Shadona!  You will be crushed beneath this pile of columns and become ashes!"

"NOooo!" Darkness surrounded me.  The pain in my chest becomes worst. "Lucius!" I screamed.

"Lucius!" Breathing heavily, I woke up with a start.  The next day came before I know it.  I had that dream again.  I have it every once in awhile.  And today was the lucky day I had it again.  

The blazing sun hit the window of the room waking the rest of my body up with a yawn.  Though I kinda wonder how he's doing.  He said I was his hero to a failure like me who haven't done anything in years.
