Abyssal God
A/N: Another little short I wrote last year and decided I'd go ahead and share. This MIGHT become something bigger but I have no definitive plans yet. Just wanted to share.
Warning this has some parts that will be sensitive to some readers (vore-ish?)
With a low, vibrating blast, the horn atop the cliff sounded out across the water and down the cliff side. Alania froze, as did the two other girls tied next to her on the sacrificial platform. Only the sea hissed and rolled in its constant thrum whilst the crowd behind the walls fell silent. A second blast from the horn. Alania stared out over the water, eyes darting frantically for any sign of the Abyssal God. The rhythm of the sea continued unabated yet the tension on the air was heavier than the rocks that formed the cliffs.
Just when it felt like no one had taken a breath for an eternity, a glint from far away flashed on the ocean. Alania squinted trying to see what it was. Then it became clear. A massive wave was rolling toward the shore. But not just a chaotic force of wind whipping up a swell; more like an enormous, submerged ship was pushing the water before it. The glistening, huge wave barreled towards the shore at frightening speed. Alania drew back as far as the ropes would allow, not wanting to remain in its devastating path.
Just when it seemed the wave could grow no larger as it bore down on them, it suddenly exploded as the cause of it seemed to birth itself from the watery wall. Alania felt her breath disappear and stop when a form of colossal proportions rose up from the sea, churning the water to a boil with its every move.
The Abyssal God...he was real.
His skin was a pale blue draped over a marble-cut physique that stretched on like a landscape of perfect flesh. From his sides iridescent scales radiated different colors of light as he moved like precious gems had been embedded in his flesh. Though he seemed human in appearance it was evident that he was anything but. As he rose from the water, Alania could make out his face. Very handsome, very god-like; everything the city statues and paintings depicted and more...except for the fact that he was a giant. His perfect mouth framed in a squared jawline that went on for days. A veritable waterfall of almost transparent silvery hair that changed color in the sunlight draped around his wet face. Fin-like protrusions could be seen under his glistening hair where human ears should've been. His eyes were striking; dark blue as the deepest ocean and flecked with silver. And those eyes were focused on the sacrificial platform and what stood atop it. His dark shadow swept across the waters and then engulfed the three women. He strode closer on two scaled legs, well-muscled and thick as the biggest of trees. Finally, he reached the cliffside which came up to his chest.
The women were all frozen in place, unable to believe the enormity of the being that towered above the cliffs and them.
At once his great voice rumbled across the rocks and into the city beyond, "Mortals of Fera-et, have you brought what I requested?"
The priests of the Abyssal God bowed against the ground behind the platform. The Cleric leader stood, eyes down and said loudly, "Yes, oh powerful Abyssal God. We have found three maidens whom you may have described. We sincerely hope they will appease you."
The ocean blue eyes became hard as stone, "Let's hope you have. I need not remind you what will happen should you fail me."
The Cleric shivered with dread, prostrated himself to the ground, and waited quietly.
The titan's eyes scrutinized the maiden offerings a moment until he bent closer and drew in a long whiff of air over the women. They all whimpered, infinitely intimidated by this great being and the helplessness they felt at being presented to him as offerings. He closed his eyes a moment, smelling them carefully until his eyes reopened and focused directly on Alania.
A pleased smile curved his lips, "Yes. This is the one."
Alania felt her heart and breath seize at the proclamation. Her? What...what would the Abyssal God want with her?
The priests seemed to all let loose a gasp of relief at once.
"For this I shall spare your city for another year. I will after that time return for my usual offering."
The Cleric spoke from his bowed position, "Thank you, Abyssal God. Thank you."
His dark blue eyes returned to the auburn-haired woman tied to the platform, completely ignoring all the others. Alania felt like the world had disappeared around her and all that remained was her and the titanic ocean deity looming over her. Quite abruptly, his massive hand appeared from over the cliff side and reached out to seize her. Alania cried out with fear, trying to flee but the ropes held her immobile. Giant blue fingers gripped her around her middle and snapped the ropes binding her in the same motion. Alania struggled to wriggle free of his grasp, but his power was insurmountable. He brought her up to his face, his eyes dominating her view. She stared back with her own wide, frightened eyes.
"Wh-what do you want from me?" she asked.
He smiled, exposing his white teeth. Alania couldn't help but notice his canines were distinctly pointed; like two teeth fused into a double point. She held her breath and waited for an answer. Then, before she could even scream or react, he opened his huge mouth and popped her inside. The onlookers cringed and hid their eyes in fear as the woman disappeared behind his teeth. The Abyssal God gave a pleased sound in his throat and turned abruptly, toppling down into the water and disappearing with a colossal splash. The ocean roiled and churned violently in his wake and then resumed its rhythm. No one said a word. The god had been appeased and they were safe...for now.
...
Alania at first didn't know what had happened. In fact, her brain was trying to tell her it wasn't happening...it couldn't be...she had to be having the worst nightmare imaginable.
She wasn't being eaten by an ocean god. She...she wasn't!
But her body's senses were screaming the reality of it. The warm wetness that soaked her meager dress in seconds, the flashing walls of white teeth surrounding her on all sides, and the powerful flexing of the tongue beneath her.
She was being eaten by an ocean god.
Her body thrashed with panic as she tried to get away, tried to flee. But she was already inside his mouth and there was nowhere to escape. His lips sealed on the other side of his teeth, stealing the last bit of light and shrouding her in inky darkness. She cried out, her breaths coming in panicked gasps that seemed to echo in the space around her.
Quite suddenly the spongy, muscular tongue beneath her arched up. She screamed knowing the swallow was coming.
"No please! Don't!" she cried, tears streaming down her face.
It arched up and flexed, maneuvering her before dipping down and pushing her against his front teeth. His tongue seemed to retreat from her, leaving her sitting on a very slick, very sinewy surface at the bottom of his mouth. The hard bone of his teeth was at her back. She sat trembling, waiting for his next move. But nothing happened. She simply sat in the slimy, darkness, hearing the gurgling of his insides and the distant beat of his heart. It felt like his titanic form was moving; to where she didn't know. Her own body listed to the left and then back, helpless to the giant deity's whims.
Alania's chin quivered and she buried her face in her hands, sobbing. She knew this was the way she would die, and her husband Carter would never see her again. He was being held inside the city during her sacrifice to avoid interference. Brave as he was, he could've done absolutely nothing to stop the Abyssal God. If anything, it had been a blessing he was being held away from her or he might've been killed in the attempt. Better he lives than be crushed like an insect...or eaten like a snack. Still, she wished she could've seen him one last time.
At once, Alania noticed a glow behind her eyelids. She opened her eyes and gasped upon seeing that a blue light was emanating from somewhere inside the Abyssal God's mouth; giving her a dim view of her surroundings. The Abyssal God's tongue was arched high in his mouth in front of her, poised like a huge, pink cobra. And behind it the center line of his palate was aglow with blue light. She was sitting in the bottom of his mouth, right where his tongue would've rested had it not been looming over her. Shining, disgusting saliva coated everything, including her. She shivered, wondering how the light was being generated.
She wouldn't get time to think however, when her whole world seemed to tip sending her sliding into the right side of his jaw and against his teeth. It felt like the massive being was moving down and then up again. She slid around helpless to the shifting directions he took. Then, everything stopped.
Alania sat up and squeaked with terror when the Abyssal God's tongue suddenly relaxed its raised arch and slid forward over her. The heavy, wet muscle all but smashed her for a moment before it flexibly curled beneath her. Alania's eyes went wide with mortification when the tip invaded under her dress and between her legs.
She kicked trying to squirm away from its impetuous intrusion, "NO! STOP THAT!" she shouted slapping at the slimy muscle.
A deep chuckle from deep in his throat shook her. With little effort his tongue slipped underneath her and lifted her up. She panicked, thinking now he would swallow her and end it all. From her new position she could see the light in the roof of his mouth travel all the way to the back of his throat as if it were a map lighting the way to her doom. Alania struggled, fighting to get as far away from his gaping throat as possible.
Suddenly, his lips parted, and his tongue extended out, depositing her on a rocky surface. Soaked in saliva and shaking uncontrollably, Alania laid on her back staring up at the endless, chiseled chest of the Abyssal God looming over her. She wanted to glance at her surroundings, but he held her vision unquestionably. He smacked his lips and moved his tongue in his mouth as if savoring the taste she left behind. A sharp smile spread across his teeth as he finally gazed down at her.
"At long last, I have you." He spoke in a satisfied rumble.
Alania shook until her voice meekly surfaced, "Wh-what do you mean? What do you want with me?"
His whole form lowered strangely as if he were sinking. Alania craned her neck forward and saw that just ahead of her was a gigantic pool of water, surrounded by rock. In fact, as her eyes darted she realized they were in a rock cave of some kind. Blue soft lights twinkled from various rocks, illuminating the cavernous space. Where had he brought her? She refocused on him, seeing that he was sinking lower in the water to bring his face closer to her. She froze, though she desperately wished to run. It wouldn't have done any good anyway; there was no escaping him.
His huge arms crossed and came to rest just in front of her, providing a prop for his upper body to rest on while the rest of him disappeared into the pool. At this close range and in the darker setting he was shimmering with a blue bioluminescent glow along his arms, up his neck, around his eyes, and across his chest. In the sunlight he glittered with scales, in the dark he glowed with an almost alien light. Even a ring of electric blue light was glowing around his irises.
"I've been searching for you for a long time." he stated, ocean blue eyes capturing her.
"Wh-why?" Alania all but whispered.
He raised a silvery brow, "You have a gift."
At first Alania wasn't sure what he meant until a thought dawned on her, "You...you mean my singing?"
He nodded with a smile, "I heard you almost two years ago, singing from the cliffside. Of all the sounds I've heard in my life, your voice made my skin tingle. That is indeed a rare feeling for me."
He reached down and curled a hand around her to stroke her back with a finger. Alania flinched visibly.
"I knew I had to find the source of that beautiful voice. However, I was...distracted...and by the time I had arrived at the cliffs you were gone." His eyes grew hard for a brief instant, "I picked up your scent and memorized it...but I couldn't find you." His eyes softened again, "From then on I tasked the priests of your city to find the most talented singers and present them to me as offerings. And now...here you are. Mine at last."
Alania couldn't believe what she was hearing. An actual god had been impressed with her voice and had been searching for her.
"So...you're not going to eat me?"
His tongue smacked behind his teeth and he smirked, "Though you taste divine...No. I'd much rather hear you sing."
Alania wiped her wet hair away from her face and sat up carefully, "Then why did you do that to me if you weren't going to eat me?"
"How else could I get you here without drowning you?"
Her brown eyes roved around the massive cavern and then to the water he was partially submerged in, "We're...at the bottom of the ocean?"
"Well, not the actual bottom...but pretty deep, yes. This is my own personal grotto. Very close to a volcanic vent so you won't freeze to death. I've also provided a pool of fresh water toward the back there." He eyed her, "I hope it is to your liking?"
Alania didn't say anything, but tears were springing back into her eyes, "Please...take me home. Please!"
He lowered himself even further toward her, putting his huge face very close, "Oh, but I can't do that. I don't want to lose you again."
"But...you didn't have to bring me here! If all you wanted was my singing I could've given that to you from where I lived!" she protested.
The Abyssal God's lips curved, "Perhaps. But if I were to return you to land, what would stop you from fleeing the coast and away from my call?"
Alania shook her head fervently, "If you return me home, I swear upon my life I would remain in Fera-et for the rest of my days. I would come to the cliffs anytime you wished and sing for you."
His intense blue eyes seemed to ponder a moment before he rose up again, "I will think on this proposal. For now, I will find something to eat. When I return, you will sing for me and I will have a decision."
Before Alania could protest he slipped beneath the water and disappeared. The water washed over the rocks toward her with his retreat. She sat in the gloom of the cave alone for several minutes before she couldn't hold back her sobs of despair.
