This is another Harry potter book, I thought of. It's basically the Harry potter books with a character who's as his last name suggests is the grandson of Newt Scamander. The plot of the books won't change much as Jacob will be in Hufflepuff and he won't interact will the main trio much at first. The book starts at Second year where Hermione remembers that she's heard Jacob's last name before, on Fantastic Beast and Where to find them from the First Year book list, as such one day the main trio ask Jacob if he has any idea what would be in the Chamber of secrets and if not if he could potentially ask his grandfather for any ideas. Jacob will be more experienced than most of those in his year as Newt taught him how to deal with most magical creatures (Jacob knows how to deal with all magical creatures with that are X-XXX and some XXXX creatures [X means boring, XX means harmless/Maybe domesticated, XXX means competent wizard should cope, and XXXX means dangerous/ requires specialist knowledge/skilled wizard may handle] due to this he knows how to brew various kinds of potions, and various defensive and some offensive spells, he also has the ability to communicate with most magical creatures even snakes but he's not fully a Parselmouth it's like how Ron was able to copy what Harry said in parseltongue after hearing it. Jacob can't truly talk to magical creatures like he can't go up to a dog or a Diricawl (quite literally the Harry Potter version of a Dodo bird as they were actually what Muggles recorded as a Dodo bird and they're able to teleport which lead to the Muggles believing they were hunted to extinction) and have a conversation by barking or making whatever sound Dodos made, it's more like he's able to understand what the creatures are trying to convey with the noise they make or their actions and either make the same sounds to convey something to they or just reply normally as most creatures are able to recognize what he's trying to say in English. For Parseltounge he can understand it due to traveling to South Asia, Southeast Asia, The Middle East and North Africa and meeting various Parselmouth wizards, witches and the occasional Parselmouth squib, the squids would use their abilities for Snake Charming, and the witches and wizards would use it to study serpentine magical creatures, Jacob learned how to know what the various hisses and occasional clicks mean but Jacob, himself can't fully speak it though he does knows some words in Parseltounge but the only ones he knows are "Stop, Not enemy, will not harm you." it's like how in Tarzan of the apes Tarzen could understand and write in English but he couldn't speak it.)
