"Minyoung, hook me up with about six coffees and we'll be all good to go." Jaehwan smiles at me, he doesn't seem like he needs the coffee.
"What?" I exclaim, my mouth is hanging open - I can just tell but there probably isn't a person in this room that wouldn't find such an order so strange.
"Six coffees, to go, please." Jaehwan repeats "All lattes."
"Six?" I wheeze, unable to process his order. Why would he need six coffees so early in the morning, Jaehwan laughs; finally realising my confusion.
"They aren't all for me, silly," he says between giggles "only one's for me. The rest are for my work colleagues." I nod slowly before punching in his order. "Right." I say slowly, dragging out the word as much as possible
"Are you coming into the store today by any chance?" Jaehwan says, in attempt to keep the conversation going. "Maybe?" I mumble, holding out my hand for the money "I bought something yesterday so maybe not, do you recall hearing anything about new stock?" Jaehwan shakes his head,
"I just started there yesterday so they aren't going to tell me anything until I arrive."
"I see, then I'll have to come in and have a look for myself." Jaehwan grins "What? Are you actually excited to see me?"
"Yeah, of course I am."
"We literally met yesterday, but okay." I gesture for him to go and wait for his coffee so I can serve the next person in line
"Yes, yes, I'll see you later sweetie." He waves to me before standing over at the other side of the café. I roll my eyes at him and smile apologetically at the elderly lady that was behind him
"I'm so sorry, what do you want to order?"
I poke my head into the store before stepping in, scanning the shops there's no sign of Jaehwan. I laugh to myself a little, He was really looking forward to this and he's not even here to greet me.
"Hello, Minyoung, how are you?" The person behind the counter smiles warmly at me,
"Hello, Minhyun." I wave at him "Do you have any new stock today?" Minhyun pauses, trying to remember if they do or not.
"Um, maybe? Let me go check out the back. Oh, by the way, did you meet someone named Jaehwan at the café?" I nod,
"Yeah, I did why?" Minhyun fumbles around behind the counter, presumably looking for something. He produces a sticky note and hands it to me,
"He said that unfortunately he has to leave but he told me to give you this," I take the note from him and Minhyun pulls out something else to give to me "and this. I'm not sure what it is though. I'll be back in a second, okay?"
"Yeah, thank you." I look at the note and read over it
Minyoung~ I'm sorry that I couldn't see you today, I had to leave early... but I found this in the back and thought you'd like it - my boss said I could have it but I think you'd like it better.
- Jaehwan
I look at the plastic bag in my hands and take a look inside it, it's an album - unsurprisingly, I didn't recognise the artist but looking at the track list in the back I found myself recognising some songs that I've listened to before. I smile to myself and put the album back just as Minhyun comes back out. He grins at me and gives me a thumbs up, "We did get something new in; not sure if you'll like it but, I personally listened to the album when it came out yesterday and I quite like it." He beckons for me to follow him, "It's over here." He picks up the brightly coloured album, it's an artist I've heard of before but Minhyun's right - I might not like it.
"Hmm, maybe I'll listen to the album first and then see if I should buy it." I say and Minhyun nods.
"Completely understandable. I need to close the shop up soon anyways, do you want to help me count the money? My boss will be here soon and I don't really want to keep him waiting."
"I don't have anything else to do, so sure why not." He smiles gratefully at me and goes over to the counter, pulling out piles of bills
"Start counting."
"An iced coffee, please." Jaehwan grins, already holding the money out to me,
"An iced coffee? Again? It's even colder than last time but sure, freeze your brain." Jaehwan laughs at my comment.
"I know, I just really like iced coffees." I roll my eyes and out in his order "Oh! Minhyun told me that he saw you yesterday, I'm assuming he gave you the plastic bag and the note?" My mouth unconsciously forms a smile
"Yeah, I got it. Thank you, I really like the songs on that album. Not so familiar with the artist but I've definitely heard the songs before." I take the money from Jaehwan,
"That's good, I'm glad you like it." Instead of moving to the waiting area, he starts fishing around in his pockets for something. Finally finding what he's looking for he passes a piece of paper, taking it from him I scrunch up my face when I notice how messily it's folded. I open my mouth to say something but Jaehwan beats me to it,
"Bye, Minyoung, see you later - or tomorrow!" He walks off to the waiting area in high spirits leaving me stunned, confused and with only the option of waving goodbye. Regaining my composure I turn to the next customer and begin to take there order.
Finishing up there order I realise there's no one else waiting in line at the moment, I pick up the piece of paper from the counter and open it; immediately sighing at its contents. Looking over at the waiting area I discover Jaehwan is gone, I look back down at the note. He had written a somewhat illegible message alongside his phone number and whilst I'm aware I shouldn't be using my phone at work, I pull out my phone and type in the number; texting him a quick message simply saying; really?'. Now I'm really starting to question whether or not this guy is seriously flirting with me. Telling myself not to jump to conclusions, I put my phone away just as a new customer comes up to the counter - I'll worry about this later.
