Chapter 19 (Edited)
Katie sighed impatiently after I hadn't spoken for a few minutes. "Fine then," she said. "I'll just go on and tell you some stuff," she said.
I looked at, her expectantly, waiting to see what she was going to say. My heart pounded a little in my throat as I waited.
"First of all, I'm not ten," she said. "Also, I can change any form that I want so, yep."
"All right, not something that I wanted to know, but please, carry on," I said.
"Patience is a virtue, and I'm sure that you don't have that," Katie said, smirking. "All right, then. Long ago there used to be only eight dimensions, Angesia being one of them. Each world has it's own uniqueness to it."
"Like..." I said as if to say go on when she stopped talking.
"Like Angesia being of Ice," Katie replied. "Now don't interrupt me, or we could be here for years and it would only be days up there." She scowled me. "Two more dimensions were created after a long battle, which I'm not going to talk about," she said seeing me open my mouth to question it. "New Earth and then the Dark Lands."
"Sinthazar," I whispered, slightly. My body seemed to shudder as I said the word, that was filled with so much deep hatred and anger in it. There was a bit of fear in it, and I could see it in Katie's eyes as I said the name.
"We must not say that word," she said. "It causes grief and pain to those that uses it. And how do you remember the name?"
I opened my mouth to tell her exactly why but then closed it again. "I don't know," I said shrugging my shoulder. "It just came out."
Katie studied me for a minute and nodded her head a little. "New Earth and the Dark Lands are the two new ones," she continued. "Yes, I know I said it twice, now shush." She scolded me for opening my mouth, which I quickly shut. "Anyways, after the Dark Lands were formed, things started to happen. People started disappearing and sometimes bodies would turn up, but not in the place that they had disappeared in."
"Like..?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"An Angesain was found on New Earth. Some how she got through the portals, even though she wasn't a Traveler," Katie replied. "A Traveler are those that can go through portals that are all over the place. They find the doors to the portals and can go through them. Sometimes, people can get lost to them, that is why we have Companions."
I frowned, slightly. Some things she that was saying were piecing it's way back into my brain. "Companions are animals, right?" I asked looking at her. I could remember sometimes seeing animals watching me, with pity in there eyes as if I was something to them.
Katie nodded her head. "Yes," she said. "The only people that don't need Companions are Watchers and Holders. The Holders can use their stone to get anywhere and don't need to go through a portal."
My life seems to be getting more interesting the more she talks about the worlds and stuff. "So what I don't need to go through the portal? Then why are we going through Alaska?"
"The portal in Alaska leads you straight to Angesia, and yes, you do need to use that portal, since you don't have your stone," Katie replied. She stomped her foot, a little, getting annoyed by my questions. "When normal people started to turn up in different worlds, six Travelers of different worlds came together in the world of the Gods." She gestured to the pedestals. "The Gods granted the six Travelers gems that granted them their powers, and they became the first Holders."
"That doesn't explain the seventh stone," I said, nodding towards the last one.
"Oh that, that one is just decoration," Katie said shrugging her shoulder. "The real one will come when the other five have been taken by their respectful Holders and the leader is picked. That hasn't happened in a long, long time." She glanced at me when I frowned. "The others were killed before they could... get to know their powers and before their Key called to them by an evil God named Garth."
"Garth?" I asked looking at her confused. "Is that short for something?"
Katie nodded her head. She looked at me, a small sense of confusion filled her eyes. "His full name is Garthieous, but like the Dark Lands, his name can not be said."
"So, six people come together, get stones and fight a nasty. One of the six is chosen as the leader and they get the stone that is what? More powerful than the others? Am I missing anything?" I asked.
"The seventh stone is Balance," Katie explained. "So, it is more powerful than the others. Each God had place their own powers into it, so that the leader could use them."
"Now, Garth uses Travelers to do his bidding, and if they don't do his bidding then he dumps the body in different places. And since New Earth doesn't believe in magic..."
"He thought that it would be best for him to dump the bodies here," I said. I shivered a little as I looked around. Some how, I knew that might be the reason I was here, but I don't think I did his bidding...
"Your uncle is one of the most feared workers of Garth," Katie said. "Since he is a Traveler and because of his ranking in the Angesian society."
"Because my father is the king of Angesia," I said softly.
Katie nodded her head. "Yes," she said. "And you are the Prophecy Child."
