Chapter VIII

It took you a minute to register and process the events happening in the room behind the glass. He was there, Kylo, looking exhausted, but that wasn't surprising. It was the red laser in his hand and him pointing it at the throat of Luke, the sailor. You bursted into the room.

"Kylo! Stop! You're going to hurt him!" You screamed, throwing your entire body against Kylo. His wide stance gave him enough balance to keep himself from falling, but for a moment he was distracted and in that very second, you saw Luke reaching under his shirt. A gun. You realised you'd made a mistake. But it wasn't a gun. As if you hadn't been mind-fucked enough, here came another plot twist. Luke pulled out a lasersword too! Its blue light shone as bright as the red one. The swords clashed instantly and you hurried your way back to the safety of the fortified glass. From behind there, you spectated.

"Catherine, come help me here." Kylo managed to scream after a series of huffs and puffs. He was having a hard time, every now and then grimacing and grabbing his shoulder.

-"No, Catherine, help me!" Luke said, pouting a little while seeming to easily fight off Kylo. "Your friend has gone mad."

"Liar!" Kylo shouted and ran into Luke with his laser. What should I do?! You thought. Sure enough you'd learnt to trust Kylo more, but Luke had taken care of you for the past two days. But he had one of those lasers too. That was odd, right?

In the time you had taken to think about this situation, the men had started to fight more intense. You looked up and witnessed Luke diving to the ground, rolling over, jumping up and kicking Kylo in the back. Kylo screamed in agony, and you felt the pain in your own back. He fell over and Luke raised his laser to stab it in Kylo's head. You felt light in your head, the pain in your back and shoulder only getting worse by the second, and a lot of built up anger. You tried to concentrate it to your hands. Guide the energy to your hands, Catherine. It was Kylo's voice in your head. I know you can do it.

It was like a higher power took over your body. Your eyes slowly turned into a reddish-brown colour, and sweat started beading on your forehead. With your chin on your chest, your body started to rise into the air up to half a metre. Then you stop and hold out your arms. Steadily you bring your hands together. Luke had spotted you from the corner of his eyes, but before he could turn around, he'd started to feel your invisible grip on his throat. A terrified expression appeared on Luke's face. Keep going, you heard Kylo's voice in your head. He wanted you to kill this man. This sweet man, who hadn't really harmed you. You must kill him. Kylo's voice had gone cold and raw inside your head. As if Luke had sensed your doubt, he struck. He threw you to the ground with his hands, but before he could grab his laser again, Kylo had taken it and now stood with both swords lit across Luke. He needed only to take one step forward and he'd impale Luke on his lasers. You looked inside his head and saw his brains were beginning to command his legs to plunge forward. It felt like you melted into his mind, seeping into crevices unoccupied, starting to control him. You switched his mind and instead of stepping forward, Kylo's body stepped backwards. Confusion spread across his face. He turned to face you and saw you were in a meditative state. You took control over his hands and let the laser swords fall to the ground. Luke looked scared and didn't move much.

"Catherine.." Kylo started to say and his eyes never left yours, "it'd be wise to stop this."

You tried to let go, but it felt as if you're mind had solidified inside his. I can't. You tried to speak up, but your mouth felt glued shut. Catherine, just stop. You have to, or we'll both get killed. Kylo replied through your mind. Slowly you started to try and move your toes, your feet, your legs and before long you could move your entire body and draw your mind back. As soon as you left Kylo's mind, he pushed Luke into the wall and knocked him out.

"Wha-" You started to say, but Kylo didn't seem to have the time. He picked up his laser and hung it on his belt.

-"We have to leave. Now." He said and dragged you with him. "And don't even think about doing that ever again." You shook of his grip on your arm and followed him. He had started to run, seeming to know where he was supposed to go.

"Kylo, I saw emergency rafts, but he have to take a left here." You said, pointing towards a corridor that you ran past earlier. "We have to escape and row towards the shore."

Kylo laughed. "Darling, there are no rafts aboard this ship. Neither do we have to row, and we are not going towards the shore." He turned on his heels and continued to run. Confused you followed him.

"What? What do you mean?" You asked him, but he just kept running until you turned a corner and there the answer was. They were standing in what seemed to be a hangar. Rows and rows of aircrafts. But they weren't simple planes or choppers, neither were they the military jets you'd ever seen. Are these new tech?! You thought about how scary a place the world was to be. Kylo didn't hesitate and he jumped expertly into a sleek, black dish. You followed him, trying to find a ladder into the three metre high aircraft. Meanwhile, Kylo was turning on the ship and it had started to move towards the open air. You gasped. The open air was not the open air you'd been expecting.

"Kylo.." You started, but didn't get time to finish asking your question as there were loud voices coming from the hall you'd come running from.

-"Get the fuck inside, and sit down." Kylo charged and you felt him helping you get inside. "I'll tell you where we are in just a second." He moved what looked like a gearshift, two or three levers and pushed a button. They'd started to pick up speed and soon the craft jumped out of the ship, but it would never land in the water.
