Chapter II

"So, if I got this right: you fell out of a space ship. You fell like, a gazillion kilometres, crashed right into my street, survived and you still dare to boss me around? I helped you, you know. But that aside, how do you survive that?" Catherine stood in her kitchen, drying off some dishes.

"It doesn't matter, I tried my best to survive. There'd been some... friction aboard." Kylo Ren didn't want to scare this helpful girl off by telling her that he'd been in the middle of one of the largest space wars ever. "Now I simply need to get back in there. So, where do you people keep your spaceships?"

Catherine laughed. "We keep them in our sheds, you know, for when we go shopping. Just hop on in, I'll take you to the moon, for fun."

Kylo Ren managed a smile, but was frowning too. Catherine stopped laughing. "That was a joke. We don't just have spaceships. We have shuttles, but the one closest by is in Russia, I suppose." She clarified.

"Wait, where is that? Is that far away? How do you not have any ships nearby.... What monstrous planet is this?" Kylo Ren was getting agitated.

"Russia is like, couple of hours away if you want to fly there. By plane. But they're not going to just lend you a shuttle. They cost millions. Besides, you won't even get far. It takes you months to get to Mars." Catherine boasted her space-knowledge, which wasn't.. a lot.

"Mars? Alright, do they have faster spaceships there?" He wasn't about to give up.

Catherine started losing her patience. "God, no. There's not even people on Mars, just some fucking tiny carrots that our people are trying to grow there. As far as we know, there's not any inhabitable planets nearby, so no spaceship for you." On the 'you' she dropped the glass she was feverishly drying off.

"Fuck! Look at what you're doing to me!" She screamed. This man had tired her out by just asking questions, she needed a moment alone. "I'm taking a shower."

Catherine threw her towel over her shoulder and grabbed a fresh bundle of underwear and a sweater-dress. She locked the bathroom door and turned on the hot water. The steam fogged up the space in no time and soon she was feeling completely relaxed by the heat. It felt as if it massaged the stress right out of her. After what seemed forever, she turned off the shower and stepped out the cabin.

Kylo Ren was standing in the kitchen, his back towards Catherine. She glanced and her jaw dropped to the floor. He was doing her dishes, but he was only moving his fingers in the air. The plates, glasses and cutlery were moving on their own. Into the waters, scrubbed with the sponge and into the rack. "Woah, you're quite some husband material." Slipped out of her mouth before she could stop herself. The plate stopped mid-air and dropped into the sink. Water splashed over the sides.

"I was ONLY practicing. To see if everything still works. Usually I have other weapons, but sadly I didn't get to choose anything to bring on my way down here." Kylo Ren said and turned around. He had an angry expression on his face. He looked like he'd been deep in thought, hence he didn't hear her coming out of the bathroom.

"I was ONLY joking. Look, I've calmed down a bit. Lets see what I can do to help you, okay?" Catherine said and took a seat at the kitchen table again, opening her computer. Kylo Ren expressed some curiosity towards the machine.

"That looks quite old." He simply stated, inspecting the computer. Catherine sighed.

"Well that's cause it is. I haven't had the money to replace it, so leave it, okay?"

Kylo Ren reached inside the cloth around his chest. He took out what looked like glass plate and the second he turned it upright, it lit up. "This is the new technology."

Catherine looked surprised, and tried to get a better view of the thing, but Kylo turned it away. "Not for your eyes, though."

Catherine grimaced and rolled her eyes. "Whatever, I've got this thing. And you have no knowledge of this place whatsoever, so without me... you're lost. And dead." She meant that, because she knew if this man would go outside by himself, claiming to come from another planet and demanding to see the leader, he'd be locked up in no time. And if he tried the choke-thing, he'd be shot by the police.

Kylo read her mind, and knew he should stay with Catherine for now. She might be able to help him, even though this wrecked place lacked all sorts of materials he'd need for a new spaceship.

"I presume you'll offer me a bed to sleep in." He said and looked at Catherine. She smoothed down her dress and crossed her arms.

"You presume? Don't make me laugh. You should feel honoured about even being inside my house. I'll let you sleep on the carpet." She pointed towards the Persian carpet in the living room. Kylo shot her a look of disbelief. "I'm not kidding. I only have my bed, and you're going to have to earn my respect for you." She felt powerful, even over such a trivial thing.

Kylo Ren groaned. "Fine."

That went easier than she expected. "Great! Now, what do we do?" She asked him, tilting her head to the side.

"We? There's no we. I am going to find materials, while you support me and provide help to me whenever you can."

"That does sound like we to me, but fine. What do you need?" Catherine replied, walking towards her closet to shoot into some jeans and a pair of old sneakers.

While Kylo Ren summed up a list of materials he needed to construct a communicating device that would help him to contact his space ship, Catherine combed her hair and looked for some items to take with her. She presumed they were going on something like an adventure. "Okay, there's a radio shack around the corner, we could pop in and see if they've got the wires and such." She said, after Kylo had finished his list. He looked at her and nodded.

"Fine, if you say so. You will accompany me now." He ordered. Catherine felt a tingle in her stomach. Okay, yes, I like it when he commands me to do things, but he's a stranger and it's bad to have these feelings about strangers.

Kylo Ren wished he could sometimes switch off his power to hear other people's thoughts, even though he sort of liked these ones.

With Catherine packed in her coat, scarf and hat, armed with a purse, and Kylo Ren in his poor clothing, they stepped out the door and walked off together to commence the Project: get Kylo home.
