CHAPTER FIVE
"HELL YEAH!"

"THAT'S RIGHT! THE RED IS OXYGEN." The Ducks science teacher, Mr. Evens, says as he held up a model of atoms. Reece sat at her desk, her head hung low as she doodled a picture of her science teachers head exploding— Science was her least favourite subject, always has been and always will be. Reece prefers lunch if she's  being completely honest. "Now what are the blue balls?" The brunette laughed childishly at that, along with everyone else, but the teacher just ignored them. "Tommy?"

"Hydrogen?" Tommy answered, though it sounded more like a question.

"Is correct. Now put them together and you have a molecule that makes up 96% of the body. What is it?"

"Pizza?" Tommy guessed stupidly just as someone knocked on the door.

"It's the principal," Mr. Evens announced, making his way towards the door. "I'll be right back. Work on H2CO3, it's a goodie." Reece rolled her eyes and continued to doodle, just waiting for the magnificent sound of the bell that signals the end of this period and the beginning lunch.

"How'd the forfeit go, Spazway?" Reece heard the mocking voice that belonged to Karp say. She turned around in her seat, annoyed, yet interested.

"Did you score, or fall?" Ty nagged. Reece shot her brother a look and mouthed 'stop' but he only rolled his eyes, ignoring his sister.

"Leave me alone, guys. I don't want to talk about the team." Charlie pleaded, trying to get back to work, but Peter just had to open his mouth.

"Oh yeah? Sure, Coach's pet. Everybody knows he likes you best."

"Likes his mom, you mean," Karp laughed. Reece could tell by the look on Charlie's face that Karp went to far.

"Take it back Karp!" Charlie warned, shooting up out of his seat, pushing the desk away in the process. He grabbed Karp by the collar of his shirt, causing them to start shoving and fighting each other. Reece smirked a little as she watched the scene unfold before her, she usually enjoys fighting but today she's not in the mood. So, she thought she'd just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

"Hey! Leave him alone Karp!" Connie shouts, getting up and shoving the boy away from Charlie.

"You have no right shoving Karp," Peter snaps as he shoves Connie. Reece would think it's cute how he stood up for his friend. But she hates him, so... yeah. This pissed off Guy, causing him to get up and push Peter. Reece just sat with an amused expression as she watched the Ducks shove each other, throwing atoms as well.

"My atoms!" The panicked voice of Mr. Evens caught everyone's attention, causing them to instantly stop fighting. The female Parker turned towards the door, a frown on her face as the teacher enters, followed by Mrs. James, the principle.

"I love how the atoms are the only thing he notices," Reece whispered to the random girl beside her. She's pretty sure the girl beside her is the only one in this room who isn't on her hockey team. The girl only gave Reece an awkward smile and then went back to her work. "Not a talker?" The girl glared at her making Reece raise her hands in defence, "Guess we're not going shoe shopping this weekend, shame."

Mrs. James points to the Ducks who are out of their seats with a look of pure anger, steam was practically oozing out of her ears. "You, sit! In your seats now!" The Ducks all hurried back to their seats, all except Charlie, who was left standing awkwardly in the middle of the room because his desk was knocked over during the fight.

"I have never in my life—" Mrs. James paused, letting out a load sigh. "What have you got to say for yourselves?"

"Quack!" Peters starts, making the Principle look at him in confusion. Reece cringed a bit, before shrugging and joining in along with the rest of the ducks. "Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack!"

THE BRUNETTE STOOD BETWEEN HER BROTHER AND AVERMAN IN DETENTION along with the rest of the ducks— Writing 'I will not quack at the principal', over and over again in cursive. Just as Reece was going to write another sentence the door opens, making her sigh in relief thinking that detention is over. When she turned around, her hopeful smile turned into a frown at who was standing at the door. "What do you want?" Karp snapped.

"I want to talk to you guys." Coach Bombay said calmly, sticking his hands in his jean pockets.

"People!" Tammy corrected him with a roll of her eyes.

"People," Gordon corrected himself, "Right. Sit down please?" He asked. When nobody moved an inch, he cleared his throat before continuing. "Ok, don't sit down. Look, what's done is done. I want to be your coach again."

Averman raised an eyebrow, "you wanna coach a bunch of losers."

"No. I wanna coach the Ducks."

"What about the thing you said? You said we didn't deserve to live." Karp stated, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Karp, I was being sarcastic. Do you know what that means." Coach asked Karp who responded with a sarcastic 'No' proving that he knew what it meant. "Ok, you do. I didn't mean those things the way they sounded. You guys know what it's like to be misunderstood, right?"

"Yeah of course," Peter answered, "we're kids."

"So, can you forgive me? Can I be you coach again?"

"What about Banks?" Guy asked, bitterly.

The moment he said 'Banks' the twins both gasped dramatically. When they saw everyone looking at them they acted like they did nothing. "What?"

"He can be on the team if he wants, he should have been with us all year. It's you guys who were cheated!" Coach explained. "But let's forget all that crap. We're a team, right?"

"Yeah!" They agreed.

"I made you guys, and I'm sticking with ya. So... what's it going to be? We can play tomorrow night and still have a shot in the playoffs, or we can forfeit again and the seasons over." Coach turns to Peter who's sitting on his desk. "Peter, what do you say?"

"Well..." Peter paused for a moment, "guess it would help if we practiced first."

"All right! Let me see if I can get you out of detention first."

"Yes!" Reece and Ty cheered as they chucked the chalk across the room making Goldberg duck before it hit him.

"Did you really quack at the principle?" Gordon questioned his team.

"Hell yeah!" Reece shouted making the team laugh.

"Are we the Ducks or what?!"

"YEAH!"

"OW! JESUS WOMAN!" TY WHIMPERED as his twin pulled his hair because she thinks he stole her skates, which he probably did. "I didn't take them! I swear!"

"Yeah, you also said you weren't the one who shaved off my eyebrows when we were five. I knew it was you!" Reece growled, pulling his hair harder, making Ty groan in pain. The rest of the team just watched in amusement, except for Charlie, who just kept shaking his head.

"That's a classic. OW, BITCH!" Ty screeched as she pulled harder. All of a sudden, the locker room got quiet. Ty and Reece slowly looked in the direction of the door, smiling awkwardly at the pair who just entered. Adam Banks looked uncomfortable and Coach just looked annoyed.

"Reece, let your brother go?" Coach Bombay sighed. Reece rolled her eyes, yet reluctantly let go of her brother's hair, causing him to fall flat on his face. Coach Bombay sighed again as he turned to Adam, patting him on the back. "Hey, wasn't sure if you'd show up."

"Yeah, whatever. I just want to play hockey." Adam muttered looking at each of Ducks until his gaze landed on the Parker twins who we're both now leaning against the lockers with their middle fingers up and directed at him casually— well until Charlie hit them both in the back of the head.

"Good. Ducks, you all know Adam Banks." Coach introduced and was met with looks and mumbles of annoyance.

"On behalf of the ducks," Charlie said, being his polite self, walking towards Adam. "I'd like to say welcom-" Charlie got cut off by Jesse who put a hand on his chest stopping him from going farther.

"Cake eater!" Jesse spat, glaring at Adam.

"Oh, the Jess man. Dissing the new guy. The Jesster-" Averman singsonged.

"Shut up Averman!" Jesse shouted, cutting off Averman's rambling. "Putting on a Ducks jersey doesn't make you a real Duck." He glared at Banks as he stormed out, the rest of the team fallowing behind. On Reece's way out, she bumped her shoulder against Adams hard. Making him wince in pain, but he didn't show it until she was gone.

"Ow!"

THE DUCKS WHERE PLAYING THE HUSKIES, AND WHERE LOOSING BY 1-0. Reece sat on the bench beside Ty, watching as the Ducks tried to score. The only person open was Adam and no one was passing the puck to him. Reece doesn't blame them, she would have done the same.

"Pass it to Banks!" Coach Bombay shouted right in the twins ears. They both glared at him as he gave them a apologetic look, "Sorry."

Charlie finally passed it to Banks who scored making them tied at 1-1.

"GOLDBERG, YOUR GOING TO SIT THIS ONE OUT." Coach Bombay ordered, ignoring the looks of shock his team sent him. They only had 16 seconds left in the game and even though Reece isn't the best at hockey, she knows that it's probably a stupid plan.

"What?" Karp gaped. "You're pulling the goalie out when we're tied."

"Yeah coach, that's stupid...even for you." Reece says as the rest of the team started to complain as well.

"A tie isn't going to help us. We need to win!" Coach Bombay shouted, making the ducks all quite down. He looked at Fulton, "Okay, Fulton. You're our extra man. Everybody get the puck to Fulton. That's your job."

"We pulling the Statue of Liberty play?" Fulton asked.

"No, you take your shot. You may only get one, its got to be good."

"Soft hands Fulton, concentration not strength." Guy mused.

"That's right," Coach encouraged. "Let's get those huskies. Let's go, come on."

The team cheered as they skated out onto the ice. When the ref dropped the puck, Ty gets it from a Husky and passes it to Fulton. When Fulton went to shoot a Husky gets it. But Reece pushes him down so she has control of it. She quickly passes back to Fulton, so he could take the shot.

When he does Reece's jaw almost hits the ground when she sees the puck sore through the air, Huskies dodging it left and right. If Reece wasn't already shocked, she is now. The puck goes right through the net. Making the score 2-1.

"Holy shit." Reece mumbled in aw. Removing her helmet, she looking at the score board with a grin. "We actually made the playoffs."
