Diego was fast asleep with Tackle in his paws. Morning had come as the brown saber's eyes opened, feeling something pressed to his side. Lifting his head up, he glanced over and found his mate Shira resting by his side. She returned from the hunt with plenty of leftovers for her husband and cub.

He smiled, glad to see her back. And then he remembered his son, glancing down to him. Tackle earlier had a bad fever that left him in the den the whole day. Shira was watching him the whole morning and swapped with Diego so she can stretch her legs and get some fresh air.

He scanned his cub's condition. Earlier, his fur color was really pale and his ears down. Thankfully, his fur color was back to normal, and his breathing was ok too. The saber hoped that his son would be able to play today outside and stomach solid food again.

He let out a long roar like yawn which reached to his mate's ears, stirring her awake. Shira's eyes blinked a few times to adjust her vision. She glanced up, seeing her mate starting to wake up. "Morning ya big baby" she told teasingly but quietly so Tackle can sleep easily.

Diego glanced down, and smiled at her softly. He leaned down to nuzzle his face against hers, missing his mate so much. They hadn't seen eachother since Shira went to hunt so it felt good to be in eachother's presence again.

"Morning Shira" he greeted her, giving a lick on her forehead. The striped saber glanced down at her cub. Tackle turned his body to adjust his position to sleep more comfortablely. His fur was bright and healthy again. The mama saber smile warmly at her cub, leaning over to lick his soft forehead.

Shira pressed her cheek against his little head. It wasn't warm which relieved her. "Looks like his fever went down" she noted as Tackle started stirring awake, opening his mouth which his showed his little pill tongue and tiny sharp teeth as he yawned.

"Morning bud" she told him softly as the cub glanced at her direction. He glanced up at her, and smiled back at her. "Good morning" he said as Deigo fixed the messed up tuft of fur on his head.

"Sleep well?" She asked him. "Yeah. Dad's singing really helped me sleep" he said and that got her staring at him surprised. Diego froze, his eyes widen. He had forgotten about that part when she was out. Glancing nervously for a distraction, he spotted the leftovers from the hunt and hoped that would save him.

"Hey bud? Ya hungry? Your mom got you food" he pointed out, getting the cub's attention as he looked at where the meal was. "Aw yes! I'm starving!" Tackle said, feeling his stomach grumble from how little he ate yesterday because of his upset stomach.

Tackle excitedly scampered to the food, devouring and tearing at it. Diego tried to join him but Shira quickly blocked his way. She stared at him with a look of curiosity and suspicion. "What's this about singing?" She asked him, staring firmly at his green eyes with her piercing blue ones.

"Nothing. It's a secret" he told her firmly, trying to get the breakfast, but she fully blocked him further. "I want to know what the secret it is"  she insisted persistently, getting out of her sitting position.

"Secret? What secret?" He said nervously, ears down and smiling awkwardly. Shira harden her stare at him. Diego knows hiding anything from her is impossible. She was a cunning skilled huntress so he should've known better.

"Come on, Shira. I'm hungry and want to eat some meat" he insisted, but then forced him to walked backwards away from the food. "I want to know what the secret is" she told him, wanting to know his little secret. Diego just stared at her, not really sure what to do. He was really embarrassed about it because it broke his tough guy image. Shira took pleasure in poking in his soft spots.

But Shira had a secret a weapon as she smirked at him. She turned around, looking at her cub who was still preoccupied on the food. "Hey baby! Do you have a moment?" She called out to her cub, proceeding to walk to him. Diego's eyes widen in panic, knowing full well Tackle would rant on him innocently.

"Wait!"

She paused, ears turning to her mate's voice. "I was singing a song to Tackle to help him sleep" he confessed to her, making her smile in satisfaction. "Yes, mama?" Tackle called, turning away from his meal. "Nevermind baby. How would you like to play out by the waterfall?" She suggested, getting the cub excited and jumping to his feet. "Alright!" He said excited, looking to stretch his legs, run and play.

Shira then glanced at Diego who shot her an annoyed glare. "By the way, was Diego a good singer?" She asked her son, furthering rubbing salt on Diego's wound. "Yeah. Dad has a really nice voice. You should hear him mama. Now can we go please?" He asked eagerly.

"First let your dad ear and we can all go. Sound good?" She suggested, making the cub nod quickly. Shira scooped him in her paws to clean him up as Diego sulked to his meal to eat. "Hey Diego..." he glanced at her as she still smirked at him. "What?" He said, irritated that she found out his secret.

"Expect that the next time you sing to Tackle, I'm gonna be there to listen to you" she told him, making him groan further annoyed as she chuckled at him.
