Ice

Today is November 30

The past week has been busy.

Lee and I were basically stuck in the lab trying to come up with an anti cyrum, Vanessa and Phil were coming up with ways that our agents would be safer and Derek and Chris are keeping track of attacks and are trying to find their bases.

pretty busy, and it doesn't help its almost December first.

"alright Lee time to meet the others at lunch" I sighed taking off my lab coat.

"darn" she pouted.

"can I-"

"stay?" I cut her off.

she nodded giving me puppy eyes. "no" I deadpanned.

she pouted even more taking off her lab coat following me see I have to kick her out of here or else she would live here.

I closed the door heading towards the food court.  to Taco Bell.

I dont know whats with them and tacos. we walked in to see the booth we basicly claimed for ourselves.

"hey guys" Lee called out all cheery sitting next to Phil. I just quietly sat next to Derek.

"hey" they chorused.

I just sighed laaying my head on Derek's shoulder.

"that bad huh" He chuckled.

"you have no idea" I sighed again.

"so whats got you worked up" Chris asked, but his tone was somewhat sharp.

"the cyrums, we got the poison part right but we cant figure out the other cyrum or how to bring the powers back." I complained.

"better than nothing......and dying" Vanessa pointed out.

"I guess" I shrugged. "so" I removed my head from Derek's shoulder. "anything?" I asked Him and Chris.

"No not yet, but we have our suspicions of where one base is." Chris answered. "look into it" I nodded.

"you guys?" I turned towards Vanessa and Phil.

"We warned every agent in this building. they cant wonder off alone, or at all. if they do, be armed and prepare and wear gun vests and other things to protect them" Vanessa stated.

"so far so good, not many killings" Phil concluded.

"hhmmm" I just spaced out as they were talking about other things.

The day is near, what am I going to do?

"Ice" I snapped out of it as Lee called me.

"yeah" I asked blankly.

"are you all right, you've been spacing out alot today" She asked concerned. yeah I almost mixed two formulers with an explosion outcome in the lab today. luckily Lee stopped me in time.

"I'm fine" I got up making my way towards my room.

"whats with her?" I heard Phil ask.

"its nothing" Vanessa answered. I then heard her follow me.

I got in my room and sat on my bed as Vanessa came in.

"are you all right?" she asked softly.

"no, December first is one day away, I dont want to hurt them" I sighed suddenly I heard her chuckle.

"whats so funny?" I asked her.

"its just I never thought I'de see the day where you actually cared for people other than us" she chuckled.

I just scowled at her "who said I ever cared about you and Derek?" I scoffed.

"ouch that stings" she fake her hand over her heart.

"deny it all you want Crystalline you do care as much as you are starting to feel emotions again." she stated seriously.

I growled a little. "dont call me that" I spat. but deep down I know she is right and I hate it.

"come on you should get going, The effects will be starting soon Derek and I will take care of the others" She suggested.

I just sighed and got my phone and purse. "make sure Lee doesn't blow up my lab." I may be regretting giving her access to it when I'm gone.

"will do" she chuckled. "be safe" she hugged me.

"you and I both know you are telling that to the wrong person" I answered. Its others who should be careful when they come near me in that state.

"i'll say goodby to Derek for you" She let go of me.

"see you" I walked out leaving Vanessa behind.

I drove to one of my safe houses thats a fair distance away from the city.

I got in the house. For years I've come in once a year, always December first.

I sighed putting down my things and taking off my leather jacket. I made my way toward the elevator at the end of the wall putting in the code.

The elevator went bellow the basement, opening to reveal a bare room made of steel, from the roof to the ground, the room was as big as half of a football field.

"whats with her?" Phil asked.

"nothing" Vanessa answered before following Ice but not before making eye contact with Derek.

Their obviously hiding something. Derek got up to follow her but I held him back.

"whats really going on" I demanded.

"Leave it alone Flame" he narrowed my eyes at me.

"no, something is up with Ice and you two know about it" I wasn't giving up.

"Its nothing, leave it alone" He got out of my grip.

"you know we care about Ice too, she's our friend. you dont have to be alone anymore we can help" Lee stated quietly yet determination showed in her eyes.

we were all having a staredown for a moment there.

"You really want to know huh" I turned around and saw Vanessa.

"Where's Ice?" Phil asked.

"Should we tell them?" Derek asked ignoring Phil's question.

"its the right thing to do, they deserve to know" Vanessa sighed.

"Alright, come on" Derek started walking. I got up with the twins following. 

we were led to Ice's office, I expected to see her there but she wasn't. suddenly Derek's head snapped towards Vanessa. "she did huh" He said as Vanessa nodded sadly.

they were using telepathy.

"she did what?" Lee asked.

"sit down you need to hear this" Vanessa sighed sitting  on the desk.

I sat down on one of the chairs. Ice finally got extra ones.

"alright where do we start" Vanessa wondered out loud.

"the beginning" I demanded.

"well Ice has a hard past, and as you know she had Cytokinesis and Telepathy." Vanessa started.

"what about her Ice powers?" Phil asked.

"She didn't have her Ice powers she wasn't born with them like the other two." Vanessa shot him a look for interrupting.

"so how did she get that power?" I asked.

Vanessa sighed. she really hates being interrupted doesn't she "she gained them at a certain incident that she should tell you herself"

"but she gained them on a specific day, December first. I dont know why, it may be because she wasn't born with the power or how she got the powers along with the emotions she felt."

Derek explained. now he was just beating around the bush. "what does that have to do with anything?!" I asked frustrated.

"every December first, her Ice power goes into a frenzy. she has no control over it and it somehow effects her other powers" Derek answered.

"so she has no control what so ever on that day?" I asked.

"are you death?" Vanessa raised an eyebrow.

"no I'm just wondering why you're worried, its on December first isn't it?" I asked.

"yeah, but her powers get a little wacko near that day" She shrugged. My eyes widenned in realization. its November 30, two days before December first.

"where is she" I demanded standing up.

Vanessa stared at me wide eyed.

"she's already gone" she shook her head.
