Ice

It’s been a week.

Somewhere in that week we got another lead only to be ambushed.

I was very suspicious on how easy it was to get that one. I was right, it was a trap. Let’s just say they had a very painful death. For those who survived last that is. The lucky ones were the ones who died before them, quick and simple.

But it looks like words gotten out about another agent investigating them. I chuckled honestly don't know how they found out. I mean the last people who encountered me moved on to the afterlife.  I hope. I shivered at the memory. That ghost was dead set on revenge.

At least I said sorry for what I did to him when he was alive. Even if I was lying.

Then again they don’t specifically know who they just know their agents. Still their smarter than I thought. All the more reasons to destroy their package then them.

All these thoughts running through my head are giving me a headache. That’s not the only thing giving me a headache.

"Ice!"

"Girl get your sexy butt down here didn't you hear me coming?!" a familiar voice came.

I grinded my teeth at the growing headache and got up from my seat.

I walked out of my office heading towards the lobby my hair flowing behind me. People parted seeing the scowl on my face.

They know I'm annoyed but didn't worry for the person annoying me.

They knew, I knew that there were only two people able to speak to me like that.

"I heard you alright" I said entering the lobby now silent lobby massaging my forehead. "Goodness sakes I could hear your thoughts 5 miles away" I spoke annoyed.

"Told you" a familiar face told her.

"Ah shut up" she waved him off. "Ice “she squealed and drew me into a hug. I hate being hugged and she knows that.

I grinded my teeth in annoyance.

I sighed in relief as she was pulled off of me.

"And how is my Ice Queen?" he brought my hand to his lips and kissed the back of my hand.

I answered him with a glare still annoyed.

"Still cold I see" he chuckled dropping my hand.

"Umm ice who they are" I turned to find a curious Chris behind him two scared twins Phil and Lee.

Ah yes. Those two are one of those who I have no problems with. We were friends in the pass and still are today. Best friends. Their words not mine. I gave up telling them off when they still stuck by me as I went from Crystalline to Ice. in other words their pain with all that friendship crap. Like I said, gave up telling them off years ago.

They are the only able can get away with things involving me. Again in other words they piss me off to no end.

Vanessa that girl knows how to get to me. She makes me, let me rephrase that, forces me to do things I don’t normally do. I need stop being so grumpy, live a little, bla bla bla. I swear wait I know she kept her thoughts so loud giving me a headache on purpose. She has the power to read minds also which is how she easily broke my barriers.

She knows about my other powers. Like my mind reading she knows its strength and weaknesses. She knows I could hear them far, hence I could hear her five miles away. I blocked her but she kept breaking through my barriers so after a while I gave up trying to block her out. Which led to me getting a headache for hearing her for like an hour in my mind on her way here.

The there’s Derek. It’s not bad with him back. Let’s just say we have the friends with benefits kind of thing. What can I say he's a hunk? Also I can't get any man in the agency like Vanessa. Other than that he can be annoying sometimes like Vanessa but he's cool.

He has the power to control shadows. Yep I'm also fond of his power.

They both keep me in check. Well they’re the only ones able to do it anyway. I still say I sent need anyone keeping me in check. Do I?

They’re both true friends, too bad their wasting it on me.

Anyway "this is Vanessa" I pointed towards her, "and Derek" I pointed at him. "Their-"

"Her friends, her best friends" Vanessa extended her hand. I was going to say stubborn fools who are a pain in the butt but that works too. I guess.

"You have friends" Chris commented surprised.

"Is it that hard to believe?" I spoke raising an eyebrow.

"Yes!" he answered quickly.

"Won’t argue with you there" I shrugged.

"I don’t see how you have friends when you're so cruel, cold" he dead smacked.

'A blunt one I see' Vanessa spoke in my mind. My head pounded a little still recovering from her little prank.

"Tell that to them" I pointed at the duo. "Their then ones who took then liberty of being my friends" I shrugged.

"Very annoying thought" I mumbled.  They heard me of course with their enhanced hearing.

"Don’t be mean" Vanessa poked me. I scowled at her slapping her hands away. She knows I hate when she does that. She just gave me the innocent look. Innocent my-

"I can't believe she didn't kill you yet or something" he stated staring at our exchange still in shock and amusement.

"You must be new" Derek commented.

"Yeah, I’m Chris by the way" Chris introduced himself. Oops forgot to introduce him. Oh well.

"No wonder” Vanessa nodded. I rolled my eyes knowing what their implying.

"No wonder what?" Chris asked.

"No wonder you aren't running for the hills when she's nearby" Derek smirked.

"I'm stuck with this one anyway." I rolled my eyes.

"Why’s that?" Vanessa asked.

I looked around and saw everyone watching us trying not to show it yet failing. "Let’s take this to my office." Vanessa and Derek nodded and followed me along with Chris.

"You two take their bags to their room" I pointed out two random men. They scurried away getting to it.

Vanessa and Derek just laughed at their reactions.

We got to the office and sat on my chair. Vanessa sat on the handle of the chair much to my annoyance. While Chris and Derek sat on the two chairs in front of my desk.

"So?" Derek asked.

"He’s my partner in a mission.” I came out with it.

"Seriously?" Vanessa asked shocked.

"Not only that but they expect me to protect him" I chuckled.

"Seriously?" Vanessa asked again and I gave her a do you think look.

"His their son" I stated.

"Seriously?!" she yelled. I gave her an annoyed look.

"Let me get the straight" Derek spoke "not only didn't they learn their lesson on your mission partners, but they made their son your partner expecting you to protect him?" he asked.

"Yup" I popped the p.

"Wow" Vanessa commented.

"For this mission thought....." I started "I'll need him to succeed"

They both stared in shock but seriousness now knowing how serious this mission is for me to actually need a partner.

"Talk" Derek commanded.

Chris

I was in the lobby talking to Lee and Phil when a girl with brown eyes and dark brown hair with light brown highlights and a guy with black spiky hair and almost grey eyes came in. the Lobby got a little quiet.

I looked at Lee and Phil confused, Lee was about to say something when the girl yelled "Ice!"

"Girl get your sexy butt down here, didn't you hear me coming?!" I was confused now. Who are they and aren’t they scared what Ice might do to them.

I bet she hear you miles away and is very annoyed with you right now" the guy told the girl chuckling.

How can Ice hear them from miles away?

“I hear you alright" I glanced over to see Ice walking in massaging her forehead looking annoyed.

"Goodness sakes I could hear your thought 5 miles away" yup she sounds annoyed too.

"Told you" the guy told the girl.

"Ah shut up" she waved him off.

"Ice" she squealed and hugged her. Okay this is very confusing.

Looks like Ice isn’t enjoying the hug though since I heard her grinding her teeth annoyed from where I was.

The other guy pulled her off Ice and he took her hand kissing the back. "And how is my Ice Queen?" he asked.

I felt an emotion when he did that but didn't really acknowledge it paying attention to what’s happening.

Ice glared at him but it didn't seem to faze him.

He just chuckled "still cold I see."

I couldn’t hold my curiosity anymore.

I went up towards Ice despite Lee and Phil's disagreement.

"Umm Ice who are they?" I asked her. She turned around seeing, me she was spaced out for a little while.

"They are Vanessa" she pointed to the girl "and Derek" she pointed to the guy.

"Their-"

"Her friends, the girl extended her hand” best friends"

"You have friends" I asked Ice surprise forgetting about Vanessa's raised hand.

“is it that hard to believe?" she raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yes!" I answered quickly.

"Won’t argue with you there" she shrugged.

"I don’t see how you have friends when you're so cruel, cold" I stated but now come to think of it around them her aura seems lighter. Not gray just less dark. Now that surprises me.

"Tell that to them" she pointed at Vanessa and Derek. ““Their then ones who took then liberty of being my friends" she shrugged. Now that IA much more surprising.

I thought she would blackmail or threaten them to be her friends or something if she wanted friends in the first place.

"Very annoying thought” she mumbled but I manage to hear her with my enhanced hearing. I guess they heard her too since Vanessa started poking her.

"Don’t be mean" she kept poking. Ice scowled at her slapping her hands away. She knows I hate when she does that. She just gave her an innocent look.

I watched shocked yet amused.” I can't believe she didn't kill you yet or something" I stated.

"You must be new" Derek commented out of nowhere.

"Yeah, I’m Chris by the way" I introduced myself. I'm a little embarrassed I didn't do it earlier. Then again Ice also forgot to introduce me too.

"No wonder” Vanessa nodded. Ok I'm confused.

"No wonder what?" I asked.

"No wonder you aren't running for the hills when she's nearby" Derek smirked. I want to punch that smirk off his face but I don’t think that would be smart.

"I'm stuck with this one anyway." Ice rolled her eyes.

"Why’s that?" Vanessa asked.

Ice looked around. I looked around also to see what she was staring at and saw everyone watching us trying not to show it yet failing. "Let’s take this to my office." Vanessa and Derek nodded and followed her along with me.

I looked back at Lee and Phil and ought to 'see you later ‘they nodded and mouthed’ be careful to okay creepy.

"You two take their bags to their room" Ice pointed out two random men. They scurried away getting to it.

Vanessa and Derek just laughed at their reactions. I guess their used to Ice and her...... personality.

"Seriously?!" she yelled. Ice gave her an annoyed look. Yup definitely annoys her all the time.

"Yup" Ice popped the p. did they forget I was here.

"Wow" Vanessa commented.

"For this mission thought....." Ice started "I'll need him to succeed"

They both stared at Ice in shock but seriousness. Ok bipolar much.

"Talk" Derek commanded.

"My new mission" Ice opened a drawer and took out two files giving one to Vanessa and sliding one to Derek. I looked over and saw it was the file I also saw but with more recent events and details.

"Hmm" Vanessa said looking into her file. Suddenly they both closed their files sliding it to each other than reading the one passed to them.

"He looks familiar." Derek mumbled. I saw he was looking at the files of those killed which of course was updated.

"Now I remember" Vanessa stated. Ice and Derek looked at her expectantly.

"I heard that the agents around the world were being killed Lvov 1 and 2 sometimes 3 though." she stated.

"That’s it" Derek snapped his finger in realization.

"There were killings around our location also, that’s where I saw that guy" he stated then showed the picture to Vanessa.

"Remember the guy who basically eye was raping you and tried to get you in bed with him?" he asked Vanessa.

"Yeah I was wondering why he was familiar." Vanessa answered then suddenly shuddered. "Maybe I should thank whoever killed him" she stated.

Ice just chuckled. "There were killings in your location" she grabbed the remote making the screen appear and come to life.

She showed the map with the red dots showing the killings.

"This much killings?" Derek whistled. Hewed he know those were the number of kills.

"Yeah" I sighed looking at the screen showing about 10000 killings throughout America.

"Hey I also heard that every other agents were killed when given the mission to find out who is doing this." Vanessa stated.

"Now I know why you need him" Derek commented. Seriously I'm still here.

"So what did you find out so far" Derek got up and in front of the screen.

Ice sighed pressing a button "this"

The screen changed and you can see numbers labeled by the dots.

"Level 1 and 2 aren’t the only ones being killed anymore" Ice stated and Vanessa gasped putting her hand over her mouth.

I got up and joined them around the screen. It showed many killings of level 1 to 4 some 5 spreading from Texas. The killings increased along with the levels but going far out it doesn't show much yet.

"How?" Derek asked.

"We were doing an investigation and got a lead. It led us to a meeting and there we found out......" I started.

"They made a cyrum, well two" Ice continued "one cancels out our powers."

"Impossible" Vanessa spat. That a first.

"If that rills you up wait till you hear this." Ice chuckled but it wasn't humorous.

Ice looked at me expectantly. I sighed but said it anyway "they made a poison that affects us, powers or no powers"

"Mix them all together......" Ice stated.

There was silent after that as we all stared at the screen.

"Who are they" Derek asked after a while.

"The conquerors" Ice sighed.

"You the group-" Vanessa started.

"That’s them" Ice sat back on her.

"I never thought they would grow this big and get this troublesome" she stared at the screen.

I should have kept monitoring them" she sighed again.

"Don’t blame yourself" Vanessa put a hand on her shoulder.

"They know now that there are other agents investigating them" I said.

"So now they’re going to start laying out traps for you guys" Derek looked at us both.

"They already started" Ice mumbled annoyed. Probably at the conquerors.

We stayed silent for a little while.

"Why are they doing this" Vanessa asked.

I chuckled along with Ice knowing the irony. The two looked at us confused. Probably wondering why we’re chuckling about this" to conquer the world" I answered both their questions.

They both chuckled too but stopped after a little while.

"The agencies are the only thing standing in their way" Vanessa stated.

"Yup" Ice popped the p.

"Now they have something that can solve their problem." Derek continued.

"Yup" I popped the p.

There was a pause for like 5 seconds.

"Were in deep shit aren't we?" Derek asked.

There was silence for a little while. I bet we were all thinking the same thing.

What is the bright side in this situation?

"Yup" we all said.
