Chapter 2: I'm Coming
Natsu didn't know what this guy was playing at, but was sure as hell gonna find out what he did to you. At this moment, enraged wasn't even near a fitting word to explain his emotions. He'd been living up to this day, and wasn't going to let it go to waste.
"Oh, she's fine! Just a little... hung up, is all!" Daylin chuckled madly, giving Natsu a toothy grin.
"What do you mean? Where is she?!" The salmon-haired Mage yelled, beginning to grow impatient.
"Do not freight, my little Salamander! Follow this map, and the one you seek shall be awaiting! But keep in mind, friendship may only unlock this map!" Then, with a snap of his fingers, he was gone, and a rolled up piece of paper was laying in Natsu's clenched hands.
He unraveled the parchment, only to see that it was completely blank. Was this guy messing with him? He had no clue. But Natsu wasn't in the mood for any crude and childish games.
'But he better not be lying and not actually know where (Y/n) is! This dumb map better lead me to her!' He thought to himself, glaring at the parchment.
Just then, after the thought, a piece of the map appeared onto the paper. Natsu's expression lit up a little more at the sudden event. That piece of the map just brought him that much closer to finding you. At long last, after all these years... he finally had a lead.
Without thinking, he dashed off in the direction in which the map said, Happy trailing behind him.
'Don't worry (Y/n)! I'm coming!'
~Time Skip~
The two at last made it to the location the map directed them too, but then Natsu pieced that he needed to unlock the next section of the map. But how? He began trying to recall what Daylin had said previously. Only Friendship can unlock this map? Yeah, he was pretty sure that was it. But what did he mean by that, exactly?
"This is stupid! Why not just give me a whole map like a normal person?!" He fumed, eyebrows furrowing.
"Maybe he isn't a normal person! Maybe he's a monster or demon or something!" Happy said, making claws like a giant beast, just to prove his over exaggeration.
Natsu sweat dropped, and sighed; but it was in fact a possibility. In a huff, Natsu placed his hand on his chin in thought, reminiscing back to his confrontation with Daylin.
"He better not have hurt her... Or when I get there, he'll regret whatever he did!" He stated to himself, clenching a tight fist.
Then the next map piece appeared. Natsu had no clue how or why, but he was damn grateful, that's for sure.
"I seriously don't get how this is happening!! It's super creepy!" He shrieked, shaking the map in question, his harsh gaze never faltering.
"What did you do before the first part appeared on the map?" Happy quizzed, raising an eyebrow as he hovered beside Natsu, glancing down upon the map's contents.
"I thought of how the guy better actually know where (Y/n) is, and not just leading us farther away from her! Why?" Natsu replied in question, growing suspicious of Happy's inquiries.
"Then you just now said that he better not have hurt her, and then the next piece appeared. Think about it. Didn't Daylin say "Only Friendship can unlock the map"? And you've been thinking only friendly thoughts towards (Y/n)! Then—" Happy was abruptly cut short.
"Every time I think or say something friendly or protective about (Y/n), another piece of the map takes it's place!" Natsu finished, flashing a toothy smile towards the blue cat.
"Aye! Wow, I feel so smart! I made Natsu understand something!" Happy cheered, hopping up and down.
"And what is that supposed to mean?!"
"It means I called you dumb! Now come on! We gotta save (Y/n)!" He then flew off in the direction the map pointed to.
Then, with Natsu right on his tail, Happy was chased off angrily by an enraged Fire Dragon Slayer. "Happy! Come back here so I can strangle you!"
~Somewhere Else~
You woke up, eyes aflutter, still chained to the wall. You had been bound to that very wall for a matter of two years now... and Daylin still hasn't let you down. The thought of not physically being able to move for that long terrified you. What if you wouldn't even be able to stand alone anymore?
He's beaten you countless times... And has even tried draining your Magic from your body, which caused you immense pains, but failed to obtain it... Every time, his experiments ended in failure. Luckily for you, he hasn't figured out the problem with his theories yet.
You couldn't believe that you only lasted a year away from your friends and Fairy Tail. You grimaced over at the emblem on your (b/p), it's (f/c) color was fading away from the countless times Daylin had tried to remove it. You could barely see it anymore...
You just hung there like a helpless rag doll. You felt so pathetic... so diminished. You had never experienced such sorrow in your life. Not until you had met this man. The setter of Suns and destroyer of Moons, Daylin Dalsi.
"(Y/n)! We'll get out of this! Don't worry! I promise that I will get us out of here... mark my words." You heard the small voice of (E/n) say, full of determination. It amazed you how, even after all this time, her spirit never once died, or even faded.
You smiled down at her, and gave her a nod of your head, which caused you to wince at the vague pain in your neck. But then, the hope drained out of you as soon as you heard the menacing chuckle of Daylin Dalsi.
"So, you're awake?" He smirked.
"What's it to you?" You sneered, avoiding meeting his dreadful gaze.
"You know, I ran into an old friend of yours before I got here... What was his name again? Salmon-Pink hair, annoying blue cat... Maybe it rings a bell?"
"Natsu..." You whispered, eyes widening, trying to refrain tears from dripping.
"That was it! The famous Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail! And by the look on his face at the mention of your name, he was worried about you." Daylin snickered, obviously enjoying being able to tug at your heartstrings.
Tears pricked at the edges of your eyes at the memory of your friend. You had never wanted to leave, but your Magic was becoming too dangerous... and you couldn't put your Guild in danger. Not any longer. Especially him... not Natsu.
"What did you say to him?!" You spat, energy threatening to break the chains that bound you ever so tightly.
"Oh, nothing really... I just said that I knew where you were and gave him a map to our whereabouts. Just a little something-something, hm."
'No... I can't face him yet! Not after I left without warning...' You thought, eyes falling down to stare at the cold, brick floor.
You then shot up and gave him a deep, harsh glare. But, what didn't surprise you was that, all he did was laugh. He then left to his system operations room. 'Dammit...'
~Back with Natsu and Happy~
Natsu had finally caught up toHappy, and ruffled his fur, making him beg for mercy. They also, had made it to the building that Daylin's map lead them to. Time flies by when you're distracted, they supposed.
'That means (Y/n) is inside that place...' Natsu internalized, becoming a bit skittish.
They entered, slamming open the large, metal slabs that were considered doors. Though, no one was in the room, so the two searched around for a secret entrance or whatnot. But, to no avail, and their dismay, they found nothing.
"Find anything, Happy?" Natsu asked in hope.
Happy sighed, regretfully. "Nope."
There was then a muffled scream that had echoed through the crumbling walls of the structure. Natsu felt his stomach sink as ha almost instantly recognized who it was.
"(Y/n)." He listened harder, trying to locate where it was coming from. "There, below us!" He concluded, crouching down and placing his fire-surrounded fists to the cement.
He then started pounding at the floor bricks, aiming to crush right through. "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!!"
He eventually smashed a hole into the cement, crashing down to the next floor of the building. Well, what had seemed to be the next floor, anyways. When he stood up straight, coughing from all the dust particles, his onyx eyes grew wide at the person he was staring at.
"(Y/n)..." He gasped, feeling warm tears brim his eye sockets.
You tried to reply, but you choked on your words. Natsu thought you were just nervous to see him, but then you abruptly coughed up blood and fell limp within the grasp of the chains that held you to the brick wall.
He then ran up to her, fear aligning his vocals. "What did he do to you?" He asked solemnly, breaking the cuffs around your wrists and ankles. He then caught you right before you hit the floor, since you had no strength to stand.
He laid your head in his lap, as you then smiled weakly up at him. "Natsu..." You coughed, eyes filled with nothing but pain and sorrow. "I... I am so.. so sorry."
Your usually bright (e/c) eyes are now dull and faded, like they were just barely clinging to life. This made Natsu's heart drop down to his feet. He never wanted to see you in this much pain. He couldn't take it.
Happy ran over to the cage that (E/n) resided in, and broke the lock, helping her over to the both of you. (E/n) limped a bit as she shuffled across the floor, but she managed.
She jumped into your arms, as you both had a long, much-needed embrace. It had been far too long since you had been able to take in the softness and warmth of her fur.
Then, you spoke in a very soft manor once again, considering that's all your vocal cords would allow you. "I'm sorry, Natsu... This is all... my fault." You then blacked out, falling limp into Natsu's lap.
Daylin then stalked into the room, huge menacing grin on his face, per usual. The smile just never seemed to fade from hid lips. It was sickening.
Natsu tightened his grip on your form, but not so much that it would cause you pain. He was not gonna lose you again. Not this time, not ever. He vowed to protect you until the very end.
"What did you do to her?!" He scowled, snarling his teeth.
"And why would you ever think I did such a thing? But, if you must know, I stole her magic from her body, but couldn't contain it, so it would always return to her again. And as you can see, it looks like it's taken it's toll." He explained menacingly, his sickly grin flashing once more.
"You monster..." Natsu lightly set you down, and stood up from the dust-covered floor, adversing a challenge. "You've messed with the wrong Guild, Daylin! And the wrong Dragon Slayer's friend!" His fists then caught fire, a Magic Circle beginning to form beneath his hands.
"If it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get!" Daylin took his stance.
But then, with a snarky look, he snapped his fingers. "Though, you'll have to wait for that time to come! I know, I know, I'm a coward, but will will meet again, Salamander!" And, with that, he was gone.
Natsu gritted his teeth, but then was replaced it with a look of worry and remorse as he turned back to you once again. 'I needed to help her.' He told himself.
He picked her up, and started dashing the farthest away from the building he could bring himself to go. And sense (E/n) was having troubles walking, Happy picked her up and flew along Natsu's side.
~Few Minutes Running Time Skip~
Natsu's breathing was raspy and uneven, and he had been panting pretty fiercely; until he finally stopped to rest. Happy doing the same.
He leaned against a nearby tree, still holding you in his arms, and I felt your heartbeat. He smiled gingerly, relieved that it was still thumping.
He sat there for a good five minutes, when you began to wake up. You opened your (e/c) eyes with a new-found guilt, and looked straight up at the Dragon Slayer boy.
"I'm sorry..."
