Chapter 74 : Nightmare at the France stadium (part 1) (TW)
WARNING : violence.
______________
The Army Bombs were blinding Jin with their bright red light, and that's probably why he didn't see the shock coming when one of the light bombs was hurled straight at him with force.
"AAAaargh!!!"
He suddenly received a violent and painful blow on the right side of his face which nearly knocked him out and forced him to close his right eye. In surprise and pain, he collapsed to the ground on his already injured behind and, feeling hot liquid running down his face, he instinctively brought his injured hand to his face, afraid that he had been hit in the eye because he couldn't open it anymore.
The white cast that wrapped his fingers was immediately tinged red but his eyebrow arch was bleeding so profusely that the fabric was soon completely soaked and could not absorb anything more. The blood then began to flow down his arm and then onto the stage where it soon formed a small bloody puddle.
He heard Jungkook shout his name and felt him throwing himself, worried, to his side to examine him and hold him from behind to prevent him from completely falling and heard in the distance the crowd screaming at what had just happened, while was still being played the musical accompaniment of Love yourself.
"J-Jungkook..." he stammered, confused.
Jin hardly saw, heard nor understand anything anymore. Besides his tightly closed eye which still refused to open and possibly being touched, which terrified him, his vision began to blur heavily as his mind slipped into unconsciousness, and now, only red lights which swirled, indistinct, around him, were still perceptible to his vision.
"Hyung look at me... Hyung?!"
But Jin didn't have the strength to raise his head to look at the maknae. Instead of that, he let himself slip further into the limbo of unconsciousness.
"Hyung, you have to stay with me, we have to leave now, QUICKLY!"
Author's note : I made this illustration a looong time ago and I hadn't decided to change their haircut yet and we also notice that Jin doesn't have his bandage here on his right hand. Also, Jungkook doesn't have any tattoos because I was too lazy to draw them when it was just a quick illustration to imagine the plot. Anyway, I still put this drawing here as an illustration because it was still made, he he...
________
Jin didn't understand why Jungkook was in such a hurry to leave, couldn't he let him lie down on the stage for a bit while waiting to be evacuated on a stretcher without him having to make the slightest effort? Now he just wanted to sleep.
Jungkook forced him to his feet and put one of his arms around his shoulder, before dashing onto the pontoon to join the main stage and then the backstage security. He was frightened by what was happening.
Someone in the crowd, very close to the small stage, had just launched an Army bomb on Jin aiming at his head and it was impossible to know for the moment if the eldest did not suffer from a serious head trauma.
But for the moment, it was unfortunately the least of their worries. Indeed, the very moment fans realized what had happened, a fight seemed to have broken out where the army bomb had been launched, between fans trying to find out who had provoked the attack and certainly taking to innocent people in their strong emotion. Because of this, they had caused a small crowd movement that the few security members present there were already struggling to contain as it spread more and more like a wave.
The ocean of Army bombs was already very agitated and Jungkook felt that a tidal wave was approaching and if he did not leave the small stage and the pontoon as soon as possible with Jin, they risked being overwhelmed.
Halfway between the two scenes, the other members who had finally stopped singing ran to meet them to help them.
"NO!!" Jungkook yelled at them. They then froze halfway, wondering why Jungkook was preventing them from coming to meet him. The latter added with a manifest urgency in the voice and the glance: "RUN BACKSTAGE!"
Because Jungkook had seen what the others had not yet seen.
Many people, panicked by the crowd movement that was gaining momentum and seemed to become even more violent, began to cross the barriers that separated them from the artists and were positioned all along the pontoon. They were ready to climb on the pontoon to safety and the idols would then be drowned in this crowd.
Along these barriers, security guards were trying to push back the mass of people pouring in, but Jungkook realized that there weren't enough of them to contain everyone. The security agents and other stadium staff were a few hundred. Faced with more than 70,000 spectators in panic. For the moment, only the few thousand people massed in the pit had joined the crowd movement, but the rest would soon join the general hysteria that had won the stadium.
The rest of the BTS members understood what was happening and all of them, except for Namjoon, started to rush back to the main stage where the trap door was to open that was to save them from this madness by bringing them to the backstage.
The leader meanwhile tried to join Jungkook to help him carry Jin semi-conscious because the maknae had not yet recovered the strength that his health problems in America had taken from him, and he was visibly in pain.
Moreover, his foot protested painfully against the abnormal weight that Jungkook placed on it. The singer couldn't help but limp furiously in front of everyone but now that was the least of his worries.
Ultimately, the tsunami finally reached the bridge.
The waves of fans had ended up knocking down the barriers, surging on both sides of the pontoon and easily overwhelming the security guards, and causing the structure to wobble. On the pontoon, the seven singers fell backwards. And when they looked up, what they saw made their blood run cold.
Hundreds of people began to climb the structure and thousands more followed them. Here and there below, they saw, lying on the ground, trampled people who no longer moved and soon, this macabre scene would undoubtedly be repeated on the walkway on which they were as well.
For Jungkook and Jin who were farthest from the main stage, it was going to be a real race for survival. Jungkook straightened up from his fall and to go faster this time, threw Jin over his shoulder before breaking into a run.
The older, did not protest but raised his head to assess the situation with his only open eye. He swallowed hard at what he saw. Behind Jungkook, people had invaded the small stage and the last part of the walkway. Some even started running after them.
He didn't have the capacity to speak at that moment because his shaken brain did not allow him so he patted Jungkook on the back. The latter turned around and what he saw made him run even faster.
But that was no use anymore. In front of them, the crowd had also invaded the walkway, putting themselves between Namjoon and the other two like an impassable obstacle, and they could no longer reach the big stage, unless this compact crowd agreed to let them pass.
Yet, there was so much panic in their eyes that trying to touch their common sense was going to be difficult. Further on, the other members were also blocked by the crowd a few steps from the main stage, which was also invaded anyway.
How were they to escape this terrible raging storm? They were on their own because the security guards were overwhelmed. No one yet had the good sense to call the police or the army to manage this hell that the Stade de France had become?
Suddenly, Jungkook felt dozens of excited hands grabbing onto him, and he saw that others had grabbed Jin.
"No!" he protested but his voice was swallowed by the louder voice of the crowd.
The people who got on were not just relieved and happy to have escaped the scramble. They were also suddenly excited at the idea of being so close to their idols and only dreamed of one thing, to touch them.
On the other side of the crowd, the same thing was happening to the other members who were struggling unsuccessfully to try to get out of this human tide and join the backstage. The trapdoor leading to the backstage had also opened in the middle of the main stage but the members of their staff and their two managers were unable to join the BTS members to exfiltrate them, this because of the mass of people gathered in front of them.
The screams made the scene even more nightmarish if that was possible because they did not stop and, on the contrary, grew louder to the rhythm of the movements of the crowd which were spreading everywhere now.
Jungkook tried to struggle but felt that it would be in vain, the people around him were too tightly clinging to him and pushing him in all directions on the narrow walkway, to such an extend, a group of people ended up losing their balance and drag all others down with them.
They all fell heavily from the pontoon, crashing on the ground for the less lucky, crashing on the others for the luckiest.
Jungkook was unlucky.
He crashed hard to the ground and gasped, while other people crushed him and prevented him from catching his breath. Body aching, he desperately tried to exfiltrate this suffocating trap but he did not have the strength to do so. He also understood that all his bones had not come out unscathed from this fall.
As his chin rested on the ground, he met the lifeless gaze of a girl lying on the ground: she had been trampled, like many others around. Panic completely seized Jungkook who for a minute had still not caught his breath: he was convinced he was going to die here, under the crushing weight of his fans, his Army.
"JUNGKOOOOOOOK!!! IT IS JUNGKOOOOOOOK!!!!!!" a girl yelled next to him of which he saw only the feet, stirring up a hundred people who crowded around him.
The people crushing him hurriedly retreated and he could finally breathe. However, the air seemed to have thinned as the number of people gathered around him kept increasing while he was still on the ground.
Besides, he wasn't out of the water and saved yet. As he painfully tried to get up, the hands clung to him again, fervently and their owners cried out hysterically.
All of sodden , Jungkook realized a terrible thing: Jin was no longer with him. Turning his head frantically, he saw that he was nowhere in sight.
Then, he heard a clamor coming from the other side of the pontoon and he had a shudder of horror when he realized something else: Jin had fallen on the opposite side to his.
So now, they were each on one side of the pontoon, surrounded by danger.

Author's note : Did I manage to write an intense chapter? Please give me your opinion, it's important to me =) Also, I hope the water metaphor hasn't lost you. Obviously they're not in the water and "pontoon" is just a walkway, but now they're drowned into this crowd.
One more chapter left before the end of book 6 !
