_____________

Once alone with Jin after the door to the CEO's office closed on Jungkook, Soobin dared not meet Jin's gaze immediately, respectfully waiting for the other to speak to him first, for fear of making him uncomfortable. But when Jin didn't, the youngest looked into the oldest's eyes and saw a nameless pain there.

He knew that everything that had happened to the group was terrible and he knew that his Jin sunbae-nim had suffered even more than the others, having been the victim of a campaign of cyberbullying before being targeted twice by people who wanted to hurt him and even kill him.

It was awful what you could read in a suffering person's eyes.

Then, gently, Soobin, who had never seen Jin wear such a mask of pain and realized that the eldest would never speak if he wasn't invited to, called him:

     "Sunbae-nim?"

Jin raised his hurt gaze to him, the fingers of his right hand began to twitch, opening and closing nervously and frantically on an invisible RJ. Seeing that, Soobin slowly approached his hand to him but stopped immediately when the elder froze. Hand in suspense, he asked:

"Sunbae-nim, I will never hurt you, I promise. Would you let me hold your hand?"

Taking the time to probe his gaze to find no malicious intent, Jin he ends up nodding and let Soobin gently take his hand between his, starting to caress him. This silent moment lasted a very long time and managed to appease Jin who relaxed completely. In addition, with his caresses filled with sweetness accompanied by a smile full of kindness, Soobin achieved a feat that he immediately spotted:

     "Ooooh sunbae-nim! You are smiling!"

Soobin's face lit up and he grinned as he realized the small smile that had appeared on Jin's lips. Instinctively Jin raised his fingers to his lips in front of the younger that could only smile in mirror, Jin asked quietly:

     "I am?"

     "Yes, you are!"

This time, without asking his permission, Soobin jumped around his neck and hugged him, too happy to see Jin let go of that expression of pain that hadn't left him for so long. Involuntarily, Jin recoiled.

"Oh, I'm sorry sunbae-nim, I got caught up, but I'm just so happy!" Soobin apologized when he felt Jin's stiffness.

However, when he finally felt Jin's valid arm give him back his embrace, he decided to continue his hug.

   "Thanks... Soobin."

They remained like this in each other's arms until Soobin, who would have stayed like this for an eternity, felt pain in his back from his delicate position since Jin was still sitting in his chair and he had to avoid leaning against his injured leg. He reluctantly sat up and sat back in his chair next to Jin's wheelchair.

     "Jin sunbae-" Soobin began.

"Hyung," Jin corrected him, somewhat absently, letting his eyes wander away from Soobin to ramble.

Very pleased, Soobin smiled and nodded.

"Jin hyung, how are you feeling? Are you feeling better now?"

"I just want to go home, I don't want to be here," Jin said that while looking outside, beyond the glass wall of the building, where night had fallen. "Can you take me outside?"

"I'm sorry Hyung, I can't," Soobin apologized, "it's dangerous for you to go out after everything that's happened. We have to stay here, otherwise the others will worry about not seeing you anymore."

"Okay..." Jin replied obediently, accustomed now to letting others decide for him.

He closed his eyes, as if going to sleep. He knew that if he slept, he would be left alone even if his nightmares would assail him. But he was afraid that the office door would open and that he would be taken into the room where there were those he should not talk to and the one he especially did not want to see.

Soobin sensed that Jin seemed willing to agree to talk to him and because of this, he didn't want him to fall asleep. He thought quickly about a question he could ask him to help his other sunbae-nim learn more about Jin's condition, and he then dared to ask:

     "Hyung?"

Jin opened his eyes and waited for the youngest to ask his question:

"Jungkook hyung told me that you didn't want to talk to him anymore, why?"

     "I can't," Jin replied immediately.

"But why? It makes him very sad you know?"

"I... I know..." Jin stuttered, upset.

     "So why?" repeated Soobin insistently.

As Jin remained silent and his eyes once again filled with a mixture of pain and fear, Soobin wondered if he hadn't taken his luck a little too far in this conversation that Jin was allowing him to carry on with him. He wanted to make Jin smile again, not make him suffer even more.

"I'm sorry for asking hyung, forget my question, please don't be afraid."

"He'll kill me," Jin suddenly told him, staring at Soobin again as his eyes shone with an ominous glow.

"What?" Soobin asked, thinking he misunderstood.

"If I tell you... He'll kill me," Jin repeated. "He said he would kill me if I talked to them. It's... it's a secret between he and I, no one else."

This time, Soobin had heard correctly, and he was frightened by the content of Jin's words. He looked around but no one was there. He was the only one who heard what Jin had just said. He didn't know if the other members of his group themselves knew.

"Who, hyung? Who told you to keep this secret? Who wants to kill you?" he asked feverishly before specifying: "is it the people at the airport? or those of the Stade de France? You don't have to worry about them because you are safe here at Big Hit. Here, no one will hurt you, believe me."

Jin shook his head in denial. Soobin wasn't sure if by that he meant it wasn't the attackers he mentioned or if he meant he wasn't safe here, but he doubted that the second possibility was the right answer: who, here insidede company, would have wanted to hurt Jin? So, he chooses the first option:

"Hyung, who wants to kill you?"

     "I... I can't tell you."

"Yes you can hyung!" Soobin insisted. "I promise you that I will do everything to protect you from this person."

Strangely instead of reassuring Jin, that promise that had been made to him too often by other than Soobin who hadn't yet prevented things from happening sounded false to him now.

Moreover, Soobin's insistent words that the younger wanted reassuring had the opposite effect on Jin who felt like he was being forced.

"No, no, no, don't make me tell you!" Jin alarmed, suddenly anxious, trying to move his wheelchair forward away from the boy as quickly as possible as he felt danger coming his way, suddenly associated with the innocent Soobin.

But his only free hand was crippled by his large bandage which blocked two fingers and he could not move the wheel, only to make the wheelchair jerk which threatened to fall under the effect of his excessive agitation.

Seeing that Jin was fidgeting to the point of wanting to get away from him, Soobin hastened to reassure him and immobilized the chair to prevent it from falling over:

"It's okay, it's okay! Jin hyung, I won't force you to say anything, please don't worry!"

He wanted to grab Jin's hand again, but the other pulled it away quickly: he had become suspicious of him, and it immediately hurt Soobin.

Still, when Jin seemed calmer, Soobin tried despite pushing his luck further, knowing that Jin barely spoke with his group members and seemed more talkative with him: what if Jin was hiding a terrible secret that put him in danger? Someone had to warn the other members. He could probably help them by doing more than watching Jin right now.

"Hyung, if "he" forbade you to talk to Bang PD-nim, to your manager and to the other sunbae, maybe you can tell me? Did he forbid that too?"

Jin seemed to think for a moment, trying to collect his memories and remember what he had been told. But the man had never told him anything about Soobin.

     "No... he didn't forbid it."

"Do you want to tell me, then?"

"Yes," Jin immediately replied much to the relief of Soobin who waited patiently.

However, Jin did not speak so the leader of TXT asked him:

"And... can you tell me what happened to you, hyung?"

Jin looked down, letting conflicting feelings fill his mind: he wanted to talk, it was perfectly true, he was dying to, but he was also terribly scared and Soobin read it in his eyes.

"I... I do want to talk, but..."

     "But what?" Soobin asked gently.

"You have to promise you won't tell him that you know."

"Yes, I promise!" Soobin said without hesitating.

Relieved, Jin nodded in agreement and, despite having hardly spoken for a week, he made sure to collect his words as he had a lot to say to a particularly attentive Soobin who was suspended to his shaking lips.

"When I was separated from Jungkook at the France stadium, I thought I was going to die..."

Surprised by this beginning of the story, Soobin took care not to interrupt Jin even he was afraid of what he was about to discover

Because this was indeed how the story behind Jin's silence began. The story that he hadn't been able to tell anyone and that he had had to keep to himself until now because revealing it terrified him. The terrible story that temporarily brought him back to the screams and horror of the Stade de France.

Jin's scream cut off when the rapid drop from the pontoon ended and his breath hitched violently. He felt sick to his stomach as he heard many creaking noises combined into one, particularly loud, so loud that it managed to be heard despite the tens of thousands of people screaming. He then realized that he was not the only one to have broken bones in the fall.

His head injury was throwing him and he could only see with one eye but his already very limited vision had become very blurry, as if he was in danger of passing out at any moment. He would have liked to lie still, close his eyes and just wait for someone to come and rescue him.

He suddenly felt someone fall on top of him and take his breath away as the pain of shock made him cry out in pain. Others fell beside him by dozen, the same way he himself had fallen from the walkway with other people a few minutes before, and he understood then that if he remained lying there waiting for help and fell asleep to escape the pain, he was inevitably going to end up crushed. Crushed by the people who fell in large numbers from the walkway up there on which they were all trying to climb, like on a lifeline which was to save them from drowning but which was already overcrowded.

Trying to get up too quickly, he felt the landscape spin around him and fell back to the ground, crying out in pain as he instinctively leaned on his injured right hand. How was he going to get out of there if he couldn't even walk?

Then, he suddenly remembered that he was no longer with Jungkook and realized that he was nowhere in sight either. He felt a terrible fear overtake him as he began to realize that Jungkook could be under the pile of people who was getting up with difficulty after crushing the others. Panic overwhelmed him.

"Oh no, JK..." he whispered then, before turning back crawling to the pile of still bodies behind him and shouting with all his might in the hope that the younger would hear him and join him wherever he was: "JK!! JK!? WHERE ARE YOU, JK?!!"

He began pulling with difficulty the lifeless bodies from above to reveal those below, hoping to see Jungkook's face appear, keep on screaming:

"PLEASE, JUNGKOOK, ANSWER ME!! YOU HAVE TO BE ALIVE!!"

But this scream was not a good idea because it caught the attention of someone other than Jungkook. A few meters from him, he heard a voice speaking slowly to him:

"You are there, Jin oppa, I was looking for you."

The voice was unfamiliar and as he turned around, Jin saw, a few meters from him, a young girl with long ebony hair and a face covered in a black mask staring at him. A glint of anger shone in her eyes. The coldness of her tone for such a young woman who was probably not even an adult yet sent chills down his spine.

"Stay there Jin oppa, I'm coming to you."

Jin was immediately certain that she was not coming to help him. Everything about her was screaming him to flee as he saw her approach, in slow motion, in an almost theatrical way to accentuate the fear she knew she was provoking in him, sometimes stopping to let the people who were fleeing around them pass without letting go of him. When she got close enough to him, Jin saw a shiny object in his hand. He widened his eyes in horror. It was a knife.

"N...no...stay where you are, don't come near from me!" he cried, aware that he was in great danger.

"No, I'm going to kill you for what you did," she replied, continuing to walk forward.

Kill him?! She couldn't be sincere, no...

Yet, probing her gaze, he realized that there was only hatred in it and he understood that he had to run away from her, to flee for his life.

He then began to walk away as quickly as possible without getting back on his feet, crawling with the strength of despair without worrying about scratching his forearms. The blood flowing from his face traced an easily traceable furrow behind him and turning around, he noticed that the girl was indeed following him without any difficulty like a hunter in search of his prey, seeming almost to be amused by Jin's slowness and walking even slower.

"Op-pa, op-pa, op-pa!" she crooned as she followed him, jumping almost happily as if possessed by some kind of madness, "Don't go, oppa, wait for me!"

"No, please, please leave me alone, I didn't do anything to you..." he begged, continuing to crawl painfully.

"Wrong! I'll kill you Oppa, no need to run away!" the girl retorted, hardening her tone.

The voice was far too close to him now, far too hostile, he even knew as he turned his back to her that she had almost caught up with him. He did not have a choice I he wanted to survive:

"HELP! HELP! PLEASE HELP ME!" he shouted, hoping to attract the crowd that had so far ignored him, unable to recognize him.

He was relieved when suddenly people flocked to him: they were going to protect him from this girl!

But he had underestimated the frenzy that the discovery of the helpless idol among them would cause: he was not saved, far from it.

"OH MY GOD, LOOK, IT'S JIN!"

      "JIIIIIIIN!"

      "KIM SEOKJIN IS HERE!"

"SEOKJIN, I LOVE YOU LOOK AT ME!"

Several dozen people began to gather around him with excitement and others, carried away by the movement or curiosity, joined them very quickly. People were grabbing onto him while he was still on the ground, pushing each other violently to reach him, and he inevitably ended up being trampled on and struggling to breathe. He was so terrified at the idea of dying of suffocation that he completely forgot the other threat, that of the girl with the knife.

At one point, he ended up being kicked by a person among those who crowded around him, right in the face where the wound was already bleeding profusely. The kick, widening his wound even further, nearly knocked him out completely. He closed his eyes helplessly, feeling his strength leaving him, wondering if he would wake up once he fell unconscious, or if he was going to be killed by the love of his fans who wouldn't let go.

Suddenly, he heard, a few centimeters from his face, a voice screaming with rage which made him jump. With horror and unable to see her because he was unable to open his eyes, he realized that the girl who wanted to kill him had joined him by sneaking inside this compact human mass.

After all, he would not die of the love of his fans but of the hatred: somewhere, despite the terror he felt, he was relieved to be able to die remembering all the love his fans had lavished on him during all his years.

"YOU HAD NAMJOON SO WHY?! WHY DID YOU SEPARATE TAE AND KOOKIE?! YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT YOUR PLACE WAS OR LEAVE WHEN YOU WERE TOLD BUT YOU STAYED, SO DIE NOW!" the girl yelled.

Even though he expected what happened, Jin wished he was unconscious when he felt the blade dig into his flesh. The pain was immeasurable but did not have the strength to scream. His eyes opened in shock and around him he heard the screams of those watching and seemed to be screaming for him when he was unable to scream himself.

In the midst of these cries, he recognized, without a doubt, Jungkook's voice. Jungkook was alive!! he thought with relief. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the younger one staring at him in horror and he was sorry about it. Why did he have to be there to see that? This image was going to haunt him forever and Jin didn't want that for him. He wanted Jungkook to live a long and happy life after his death, not a life tormented by the memory of his hyung's death.

But then, a brief hope seized him: Jungkook, the dearest person to his heart, was here with him. He was going to come to his rescue and pull him out of the clutches of the mad girl who had attacked him!

However, the youngest remained static, frozen in horror at what he had just seen. And if he didn't come right away, Jin knew he was going to die, for he was suffering terribly and bleeding to death.

Time seemed suspended. He would have liked to call Jungkook, scream his name, ask him, shout at him to save him. But it was too late. His Jungkook, who had sworn to protect him, had arrived too late. Jin was going to close his eyes, and he would never see Jungkook again. Never again. He wanted to cry, but he didn't have the strength. Then his body gave up and he let his eyelids close slowly as he took in what he thought was his last breath.
