Chapter 101 : Pandemonium

Soon they were all gathered at the feet of the plane, very surrounded and did not have the opportunity to speak to each other again. The airport staff in large numbers, mixed with that sent by the company had hastened to bring three wheelchairs for Hoseok, Jin and Jimin.

The first two couldn't use crutches at all, one because of his fractured fingers and the other because of his nearly healed broken finger and immobilized arm and shoulder.

However, Jimin insisted on using crutches. At his last public appearance in TV, he appeared as absolutely destroyed and terrorized on a hospital bed. He was aware that he was probably going to slow their advance through the airport - which would have been already laborious since they were all injured - but categorically refused to appear in a wheelchair now, while it was not reduced to this end unlike the other two.

The tight formation was thus determined as follows:

Jungkook and Yoongi, who had removed the cottons from his nostrils, opened the march.

Behind them came Hoseok in his wheelchair pushed by Lee who looked more like a bodyguard than a manager.

Then Jimin, alongside Namjoon who frequently glanced back, to scrutinize the slightest change in Jin's behavior. The rapper had temporarily put on his arm sling to relieve his injured wrist during during the upcoming march.

Finally, in the tail of the formation were Jin, cap and helmet pressed on his head and ears, plush RJ pressed against him, pushed by Han in his wheelchair and closely accompanied by Taehyung on his right. His cap was so low on his face that it covered his eyebrows, preventing him from seeing what was going on around him, and his eyes remained glued to the ground, as Taehyung had advised him to do, which he had listened to.

The small group was very nervous, even though they were supervised by numerous security guards and company personnel who came to greet them and accompany their slow and difficult walk.

It was the first time since the concert in Paris that the artists found themselves surrounded by so many people and Namjoon soon stopped watching Jin to worry about Jimin who seem to be the most nervous of them. The cries echoed in the airport aisles, accompanied by the many camera flashes that dazzled them when they looked up from the ground..

"Hyung... don't you think there are more of them than usual?" Jimin asked, casting anxious glances from all sides, trying to move faster.

He was used to crowds coming to scourge them at airports, but there had never been so many, he was almost certain of that.

"Yes, you're right," Namjoon replied, worried to see the passage become narrower as the crowd pressed around them. "There was probably too much communication about our return."

Despite the path they had taken, the crowd of journalists, fans and curious people was very dense and it was difficult to keep everyone at a distance. Everyone had come to take the picture that was going to go around the world, after a week of almost disappearing of the seven members of the most popular boys band in the world.

Regularly, people sprang from the security cordon to approach them, however being quickly brought under control. But the situation was too unstable, and no one was confident about keeping this crowd at a distance if the walk did not end soon.

At the head of the group, Yoongi whispered, worried:

    "Something is wrong..."

He turned to Jungkook who was struggling to keep up with his long strides even though he had shorter legs than the maknae :

"Jungkook, we have to speed up, I feel like it's going to burst any moment if we don't hurry out."

"I can't go any faster hyung," Jungkook shot back, limping and wincing in pain.

"Jungkook..." Yoongi said slowly with a frown, "why are you limping like that?"

"I... I hurt my foot before the tour, I'm sorry."

      Stunned, Yoongi exclaimed:

"Before the tour?! You must be kidding me, right?! How come I only find out now?!"

"I said I'm sorry hyung! Please, I explained you later but this is no time for arguing!"

     Yoongi sight :

"You're right, we have to hurry, I'll help you".

Yoongi grabed Jungkook's arm and wraped it around his neck for support but his shoulder hurt so much that he cried out in pain and immediately released Jungkook's arm.

"Ouch!!! Sorry Jungkook, I don't think I can help you after all..."

"It doesn't matter hyung, I'll try to move faster anyway."

Yoongi nodded and led the way but it didn't take long for Jungkook to get left behind again, especially as he was wasting time staring wildly at what was happening around him.

Indeed, journalists usually conducted themselves with respect and only a few extreme fans tried to circumvent security. But that day, it was different. Even journalists armed with their cameras or simple phones, especially many seemed to have trouble containing their excitement, carried by a hysterical crowd. The difference with this crowd that was gathering behind them was that their badge allowed them to get as close as possible to the group without being ejected by security.

Some even yelled at BTS, madly hoping that one of the members would stop and answer them. None of them did. In accordance with the recommendations of Namjoon and Han, they were advancing resolutely towards the exit, too eager to leave this place.

However, it did not take long for several breakthroughs of fans to happened at the same time, attracting photographers in the gaps that slipped in through middle of the band and separated all the members, as at the concert, preventing them from moving forward any further. Again, the number of security guards was not enough in the face of a crowd that had been underestimated.

Things got out of hand when the airport fire alarm suddenly went off and dozens of airport security guards, without considering the strange coincidence of the thing, had to leave the convoy at the same time to go to the aisle of the airport where a fire may have broken out which would require a very supervised evacuation to avoid panic movements.

But it was forgotten that it was with the members of BTS that the crowd was the densest and threatened to recreate the general panic movement as it had known at the Stade de France. It was there that they had to be waiting for the army and firefighters to arrive.

     "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

     The noise was deafening.

"Hyung!" Jungkook exclaimed, disoriented in the middle of this chaos, trying to catch Yoongi who was a little further in front of him. .

He was suddenly alarmed as he realized that the situation was already out of control, less afraid of the fire, which he could not yet see, than of the crowd that surrounded him from side to side. With his hand, he tried to catch Yoongi, who was a little further in front of him.

At the head of the group, when all the bodyguards still present mobilized to intercept several people and fans appeared in the guards place, Yoongi quickly caught Jungkook, for fear of being separated from him. Jungkook grabbed the rapper's coat with a trembling hand and clung to it like a lifeline. Then, he tiptoed to try to see Jin in the back.

But the crowd had already insinuated itself too densely between them, infiltrating through all the spaces of their group, still sparsely but which would soon be everywhere around them.

People seemed to block every space in his field of vision to take pictures of them instead of allowing them all to leave the airport while the fire alarm continued to sound loudly but was covered by people's screams.

Screams of excitement when screams of fear should have sounded. As if the risk of fire didn't scare them in the least as long as they stayed around their idols.

This vision and these screams with all that horrible row was more than Jungkook could handle while his wounds at the Stade de France were not yet closed. He suddenly released Yoongi and put his hands on his ears and closed his eyes, stuffing his head into Yoongi's chest so that he could no longer see the people around him.

"Make them stop hyung, please, make them stop..."

For him, these cries and people were the same as those who ended up on the pontoon with him at the concert. They were going to throw themselves at him. They were all the same. So, the madness was also in Korea, not just on another continent, he thought. It tracked them down and was going to destroy them...

"STEP BACK!!" Yoongi yelled at the people who were clutching him and Jungkook too close, tightening his grip around the youngest, and then shouted: "NAMJOON!!!!"

Being at the head of the group, he preferred to wait for the instructions before doing anything, limiting himself for the moment to firmly hold Jungkook against him.

Was it necessary to move forward at all costs, at the risk of being separated from others, without knowing what would happen to those on the bottom? Or did they all have to come together and stand together until they were saved, at the risk of being trampled again by a crowd without reason?

Namjoon and Jimin were even more glued together than Yoongi and Jungkook were if it were possible, Jimin had abandoned his crutches on the ground and was now on the back of Namjoon, whose wounded ribs made him suffer terribly but who had no other choice to move faster without risking Jimin's trip. He had got rid of his arm sling to hold Jimin better but his wrist was hurting him.

They had thus caught up with the group of Lee and Hoseok and were not far from that of Yoongi and Jungkook, at least within earshot.

The leader of the group was reassured to have almost all of his members within sight: this was what the tragedy at the Stade de France had not allowed him since they had all been brutally separated. Only Jin and Taehyung were missing.

He refused to let himself and his members be crushed by the crowd again. Not this time, not here, at home, even though the protection granted by the company and the airport was again insufficient, even though they had been promised that everything would be fine, when clearly nothing was going well.

The band had to survive by itself, it was his deep conviction. Not just that day, but forever from now on. They had to protect eachother from the horror of this cruel world. He had to protect everyone. He was their leader.

Beyond the crowd, Namjoon shouted to Yoongi:

"Let's go to the cars, we absolutely must go! Above all, stay with Jungkook, do you hear me hyung?!"

He heard Yoongi approve of this idea and tried to advance to the exit of the airport with Jungkook that he drew with all his strength. But the latter, after having heard the words of Namjoon, stood up, alarmed and turned in the direction where he thought Jin and Taehyung were but could not distinguish, in his great despair.

"NOOO! Jin hyung and V hyung are too far away, we have to go back to them!" He howled refusing to move forward and abandon Jin again in this hell.

Not when he had already almost lost him once. He had nearly lost them all and lived with a huge hole in his chest, he couldn't not let that happened again for real this time...

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Yoongi shouted in turn, dragging him around, "We must go, Han hyung is with them and will protect them!"

     "But..."

"No but, you heared Namjoon : they will be fine. Hurry up now!"

Namjoon lifted his thumb in the direction of Yoongi to approve and then, after making sure that Jungkook let himself be carried away by the rapper, gave the same instructions to Lee and Hoseok as he had given to Yoongi.

"We'll all meet there, for sure," Namjoon said before looking Lee straight in the eye: "Please hyung, take care of Hoseok, don't let anything happen to him."

"No need to tell me," Lee assured and Namjoon nodded, casting a worried look at Hoseok who gave him a nervous smile.

"I will be fine with hyung, don't worry," he said.

The manager then asked Hoseok to hold on as best he could before moving faster and faster, moving away from Namjoon and Jimin, running almost, shouting at those who were in the passage of Hoseok's chair to move or he would not hesitate to crush them. What Hoseok would have wanted to deny out of consideration for his fans but he had so much trouble staying in his chair that he soon stopped caring about the people that Lee threatened to crush without mercy.

Namjoon could not see Jin and Taehyung but he knew that Han would make the right decisions to protect the two boys and decided not to wait any longer, dragging Jimin to the exit, followed by the people who continued to take pictures of them as closely as possible.

For his part, he had to take Jimin away from there. But he would come back for the others afterwards. He promised himself.

"Taehyung, Jin hyung, wait for me, I'll be right back to get you," he whispered.
