Chapter 21: Wake Up, Please

Hiccup's POV

I looked down at the water. And then at Toothless.

"How are we going to survive for that long?" I asked him. Toothless waddled over to Stormfly and breathed into her mouth. I cringed.

"Ew. Seriously?" I asked. Toothless nodded.

I took a deep breath with fresh air. I nodded at Toothless and jumped into the water.

Toothless followed me and shot a plasma blast before he came under water.

This was a big déjà vu. It made me think of the time when Ryker kidnapped Stormfly and left Astrid to drown.

When we were halfway down, Toothless and I had to exchange breaths. It was super gross.

And then we continued down. The pressure was almost unbearable, but I kept on swimming for Astrid. The deeper down we came, the more we had to exchange breaths.

When we had finally reached the bottom, I felt like my ears were about to explode.

I looked around, and in the weak sunlight that came under the water, I could see Astrid.

It was EXTREMELY creepy to see her like this, she was laying in the sand, and most of her body was covered in sand. Her skin was very pale and I that a light greenish hint to it. Like corpse green, and the worst thing was that this wasn't even the creepiest part. The creepiest part was that her eyes were wide open.

I quickly wrapped my arm around her waist and exchanged a breath with Toothless.

We began swimming upwards, but as I looked down, I saw blood pouring down from Astrid's head. I exchanged another breath with Toothless and began swimming faster than ever.

When we were almost out, I exchanged a last breath with Toothless and got up on his back.

As soon as we came out of the water, Toothless flew about five meters up.

When we began breathing in fresh air, I could hear Toothless panting.

I also heard flapping of wings. I looked over to my side and saw Stormfly, and she was smiling, in a dragon way.

Stormfly was clearly happy that Astrid was here.

As soon as I looked down at Astrid, I noticed that it was raining.

I began brushing sand off Astrid's face. Once I was done with that, I brushed away Astrid's bangs.

Astrid's eyes were still open. Her beautiful ocean blue eyes didn't shine like they usually did, they had lost their sparkle.

I shook Astrid.

"Astrid?" I tried. I shook her harder.

"ASTRID!" I yelled. She didn't respond.

I placed my hands over her heart and pushed down. No response. I tried again, harder this time. Still no response.

I tried to give her CPR. It didn't work.

I checked her pulse. Nothing.

I looked at her. I felt a tear run down my cheek.

I held her. I hugged her. I didn't want to let go, so I just held her and cried into her neck.

Toothless began flying back to Dragons Edge, and Stormfly followed.

This was the worst day of my life.
