Chicago

I leaned against the car with a hiss, shifting my leg. I still haven't figured out how I was going to go along the battle field with my injury. I couldn't possibly just hop along and hope I don't get blasted apart...I guess I'll stick with an Autobot...somehow.

"I still got my NEST friends out there. I'll round them up, we'll find your girlfriend, we're gonna bring this guy in." I heard Epps say as him and Sam approached his car.

"Good luck with that..." I mutter, still pissed at Sam, before climbing into the backseat. I didn't see Sam roll his eyes but if I had I would've kick his face into the dirt.

"Why are you helping me?" Sam and his stupid questions everyone.

Oh wait, you already knew that.

"'Cause that asshole killed my friends, too." Epps responded strongly, glancing at him before getting into the car.

I frowned, buckling in. Friends. The Autobots were our friends, like family. I know I should've warned them, but if I had they would've only caused more trouble trying to keep the Autobots off the ship.

--------------------------------------------------

We have been driving for hours, barely any talking going between us. There wasn't much to say, what could we say? I was staring out the window, my elbow resting on my leg and my head on my fist. Sam and Epps were as silent as someone could get...I think we were all just trying to processing what's happened in the last twenty four hours whilst preparing for what was about to happen.

I sat straighter when we passed a house, a larger guy pointing toward us from the porch before getting into the truck. I continued to watch as the man pulled out behind us, spotting another man in the passenger seat.

I sighed as I turned to face the front again, leaning back in the seat with a small shake of my head.

We soon came across a motel where two more guys joined our growing train of vehicles. I was amazed that they'd all willingly risk their lives for the Autobots. They were part of NEST of course so they worked along side the Autobots once but still, nobody was forcing them to do this yet they were. I was extremely grateful for it too. For we would need all the help we could get.

I snapped back into the present when I heard Epps speak.

"We had a signal earlier. It's not working." He shook his head as we drove under a bridge.

I looked around Chicago in horror. I knew it was bad...very bad but...seeing it in person just made your heart stop. "Oh my god..." I felt my eyes sting with tears as I stared around the destruction. Cars on fire...buildings destroyed to nothing compared to what they once were. Ashes that were once people scattered along the streets...living people running for their lives down the road trying to escape what we were driving toward. I saw so many people grieving where they stood for the ones they lost and the city that was once striving with life.

"This is a national emergency broadcast. Chicago has suffered a massive attack." The radio announced while all we could do was stare at our surroundings in growing horror and shock as we drove down the road.

"Wrong way!"

"Get out of here!"

"Go back!"

Numerous shouts from frantic people were heard from Sam's open window as we drove past. I could only stare as I watched their efforts in trying to get us to turn around...to even look at them. We couldn't turn back now. If only we could've stopped this from happening at all.

As we continued into the lifeless and destroyed city of Chicago I saw all of the Cybertronian ships flying through the sky. Power lines sparked and transformers exploded as we passed them. No wonder people hated the Cybertronians so much after this..even the ones that would've died instead of allowing this to happen. Nobody could completely come back after this.

We soon stopped the car and we all got out of the vehicles. Nobody said a thing as we looked around. My attention was snapped over toward children as they ran by screaming and crying. My heart clenched as a thought came into my mind. 'Where are their parents?' I shook my head before limping after everyone. I winced but kept moving, I had to keep moving.

We walked, limped, further into the city, destruction everywhere we turned and looked. We all jumped, the soldiers lifting their weapons, when we heard large engines flying past us in the sky. I covered my mouth with my hands, eyes wide as I stared at the jets as they were blown apart by Cybertronian ships.

"My God. We came here to find her in the middle of all that?" Epps called down from the top of a wall formation. I couldn't define what it once was though besides a building.

"Are we really going out there, Epps?" The guy behind me asked. I glanced back at him while the bigger man from the porch behind him muttered.

"I'm not going in there."

"No one's going in." Epps watched us all.

I shook my head before looking at Sam. I might be pissed at him but that doesn't mean I wasn't going to stand with his choice.

"I am. With or without you, I'll find her." Sam spoke up, starting to walk off. I shifted, limping after him, looking up at Epps when he spoke again.

"You're gonna get yourself killed, Sam. Is that what you want? Is that what you want?" He quickly started climbing off the wall formation, running after Sam. "You came all the way out here to get yourself killed? Huh? Listen to what I'm saying." He pulled on Sam's backpack causing Sam to spin on him.

"She's here because of me. Do you understand?" He turned around again and continued walking.

"Ellie wait." The other guys jogged after me. "We can't possible go out there...and you're limping. What can we do? Are you not seeing what they did here? Did you not see them blow up three jets without a problem? Ellie!"

"We need to be here...yes I saw all that...I'm seeing all of it!" I looked back at them. "We need to be here...okay? You're the ones that decided to come here. We can't let them win." I stared at them before continuing after Sam and Epps as fast as I could.

"It's over. I'm sorry, but it's over." Epps was telling him, shrugging sadly.

'It's not over...it'll never be over.'

Sam stared at him before shaking his head. "No..."

"Whoa whoa whoa! Incoming!" A shout suddenly got us all jumping into action.

We all shouted and yelled as we ran, I tried to, toward places to shield ourselves from the blasts flying toward us. We had been exposed and standing in one spot, easy targets for the Cons in the sky.

I screamed as a nearby blast threw me violently to the ground. I rolled away, hitting a car bumper as I could only stare as a group of people were blast into nothing but dust and bones. "Holy shit..!" I was shaking as I tried to move back, looking around frantically as people were continuing to get shot at and killed.

I heard Sam and Epps shouting and looked toward them. I jumped to my feet, stumbling when I put too much weight on my leg, falling back to the ground just as more shots were fired, hitting the Con ship to the ground.

I took a shaky breath before slowly looking up, a smile coming to my face as I saw Optimus freaking Prime walking up to us, a bullet shell bouncing over our heads.

"We will kill them all." He growled as he looked upon the city. I glanced at Sam and saw he looked between confused as hell and relieved at seeing Optimus. He glanced briefly toward me but I looked away before I could see his expression.

I looked behind me when I heard car engines rolling up and shook my head at seeing the Wreckers.

"Wreckers, kill it." Leadfoot commanded as he ran up, punching the stuck Con in the face.

"This is going to hurt! A lot!" Roadbuster didn't sound the least apologetic as he ripped the Con from the ship, getting kicked in the face in the process.

The Con was putting up a fight but not a very good one. Then again...who could fight when you have three Wreckers tearing you apart? Literally.

Once the Con was taken care of by the Wreckers we looked up toward Optimus when he spoke again.

"Your leaders will now understand. Decepticons will never leave your planet alone. And we needed them to believe we had gone. For today, in the name of freedom, we take the battle to them!"

"Yeah!" I fist pump, looking in the direction Optimus was pointing, grinning as I saw the other Autobots speeding toward us.
