Calling Simmons

After the whole Sentinel thing happened I went to Mearing's office where Sam and Carly would soon be in.

I was right, they came walking over soon after I arrived, Mearing in front. Mearing opened the door and turned to me. "I'm guessing you're coming in?" I nodded silently at her.

I could feel Sam and Carly watching me but ignored them for the most part. We walked into the office and I stayed in the back of the room while Sam and Carly sat down.

"'Total Nightmare' file." Mearing told her assistant as she got behind her desk. "So, the investigation is open. We've sent agents to your office. And for the time being we're gonna send you home with Autobot protection." She told Sam.

"Uh, who do I- who do I need to speak to to get you guys to understand that I can help, that I can contribute?" Sam asked her.

I watched Wheelie and Brains play on the floor with Wheelie in his alt-mode and Brains riding in the toy trucks trunk. Brains suddenly jumped off and climbed onto Mearing's desk.

"Hey, we can all help. Want to tell you what I know? I could tell you about the solar system, all the fun planets to hang out on." He told her. I smiled at him.

"Get off my desk, please." Mearing put a gun on the desk in front of him.

"Oh. You pulling out guns? Oh, can't help you out now. She angry." Brains said jumping off the desk.

"Oh my God." Mearing scoffed.

"What do you envision for me? I go home now? I go back to work? I make copies? I mean-" Sam cuts himself off as Mearing leans closer to him.

"This is a unit for veteran intelligence officers and Special Forces, not for boys who once owned special cars." Mearing told him. I rubbed my face roughly as I listened.

"That's a bit harsh isn't it, ma'am?" Carly asked.

"Uh, mistake alert." I told her. She looked at me confused before looking at Mearing when she spoke.

"Don't call me ma'am. I'm not a ma'am."

"Well, you're a woman aren't you?" Carly asked her causing me to snort a laugh. Mearing stared us both down but I rose my eyebrows at her.

"So, are those yours?" Sam cleared his throat and pointed at her medals on the wall.

"Yeah. CIA."

"I only ask 'cause I also have a medal, from the President." I roll my eyes at him.

"Yeah. Great. So, it's not that complicated, right? No one gets to work with the Autobots unless I approve it. You're breaking my chain of command." She told him causing the hope to vanish from his face.

"Come on, let's go. You've done what you came for." Carly told him while standing up.

"With all due respect, young man, I appreciate what you did. But you're not a soldier. You're a messenger. You've always been a messenger." Mearing told him. I winced.

"Charlotte, come on..."

"You have no right to call me that!" She snapped at me.

"He's a hero." Carly told her before walking out with me following behind them.

We walked out of her office and toward the main hangar. Once we got there I was stopped by a metal foot stepping down right in front of me. I looked up to see Optimus looking down at me.

"Ellie, may I speak with you?" He asked me.

Now, I'm angry, tired, hungry, and I can't handle talking to him about something major right now so I answered simply. "No."

He stepped back shocked while I heard some conversation stop at my answer. "Ellie-"

"Optimus." I grabbed my head. "I'm so frustrated right now, I won't be good company to talk to...just, give me a day and I'll get to it. There's so much to do, I'm slowly loosing my mind." I told him.

He watched me as did everyone else until he nodded. I nodded too before walking quickly to a transformed Bee and got into the backseat. As we drove away I looked behind us to see Sentinel watching us. More specifically, me.

---------------------------------------------------

We got to Sam..well Carly's apartment and all stepped out of Bee.

"Bee, you take the freight elevator. I'll see you up there." Sam told Bee while patting his roof.

I turned to him. "Hey, I'm going up with Bee, I just need some time to think for a second." I told him. He nodded and I followed Bee to the elevator.

Once in and the gate closed we started to ascend. I had my forehead resting against Bee's roof as I took deep breaths. I had no idea what I was going to do now. Sentinel is obviously suspicious of me because I couldn't keep my mouth shut. Optimus won't believe me if I told him the truth and he's wondering why I'm acting weird. How was I supposed to stop him when he goes berserk and starting shooting everything?

I was so into my thoughts I didn't hear Bee speak. I turned my head to my left to look into the car. "I'm sorry, Bee. I didn't hear you."

"What do you have against Sentinel?" He asked me in his real voice.

I shook my head. "Bee, if I told you, you wouldn't believe me." I told him.

"Try me."

I huffed. "Bumblebee....doesn't it seem odd to you that Sentinel just so happened to have the control pillar in his grasp?"

It was quiet for a few seconds as he thought. "No...not really."

I shook head. "It's fine Bee, I'll figure something out."

He suddenly rocked sideways bouncing me off him. "I want to know."

"Bumblebee, really. I'll tell you if I find the need to...but right now, please. Let me think this through."

"Okay..." He agreed reluctantly as the gate opened again.

Once we were inside I went upstairs to take a shower and change into sleep wear, though I doubted I'd be sleeping much.

I went back downstairs and fell onto the couch face first and started to lightly cry. The emotions and everything that has happened today finally toppling over.

Bee was beside me and I could hear him messing with his cannon. As I lied there that catbot suddenly came into my thoughts. I didn't know why but I knew I met that robot for a reason, but what?

I suddenly heard talking and turned my head to see Sam talking to Bee before going to the kitchen to get a carton of milk.

"That woman, she called me a messenger. Can you believe that? After everything I've done, I'm a messenger." Sam ranted.

"Oh, I believe it. I tell you, Sammy, we feel the same way. The disrespect on this rock is criminal." I looked up to see Wheelie standing in the window sill.

"We should do something about it." Sam paced. "Bee, I need to know why they're killing humans. I say we call in the expert." Sam decided. I groaned and flopped into the couch.

"Samuel, can't we wait a few days?"

Sam looked at me with sympathetic eyes. "Nope."

---------------------------------------------------

"My next guest is a former American intelligence operative who has dared to speak out regarding our alleged military alliance with what many describe as a group of extraterrestrial mercenaries. He is the author of the bestselling book, Code-Name Hero. Former special agent, Seymour Simmons." I walked into the living room to see Simmons on the TV.

"Oh goodness, tell me when it's over.." I walked into the kitchen to get a pop-tart.

I searched all the cabinets but came up empty. "Nice..." I sighed and walked out if the kitchen and decided just to watch the rest of the disaster.

"But polls show half the world would feel safer with the Autobots completely gone. Get them out of here! We don't need them here!" Bill O'Reilly said.

"I feel safer when I sleep with a hand grenade. Doesn't mean I'm always right." Simmons countered.

"Now, agent, here at the Factor we have obtained documents that show you were fired by the intelligence committee-" an older man came into Simmons shot.

"Chaz, I'm doing an interview."

"Downsized, Bill. Budget cuts. Chaz, out." He told the older man, who left right away.

"- Your psych evaluation reports severe delusional tendencies!" Bill finished.

"This is ambush journalism." Simmons told them.

"Look, I'm not-" Simmons cut him off.

"You want the truth about the alien alliance? Buy my book! Buy my book! Before it's too late, people! You want a piece of me, Bill? You want to get naked? I'm ready!"

"Wow." Sam breathed beside me. I laughed.

"The man thong scared me, I do not want to see that." I told him.

"Interview is over! You, out- of- my- house." Simmons started yelling.

"You're sounding like a pinhead, agent. And I've got a suggestion for you-" Bill was saying.

"It's over! Understand?"

"Damage control."

"Dutch!" Simmons called. I was surprised they were still filming.

"You have obviously upset Mr Simmons. You have twenty-three seconds to leave the property, I have called the police. You are peasant people throwing rocks at a giant!" Dutch told them. It was then cut off.

After a few seconds Sam's phone rang. He stood up and answered it, walking away. I followed him because I had nothing better to do.

"I called you because the Decepticons are back. I want to know why, and I need your help." Sam told him.

"What if I told you I know a fifty year old alien secret that nobody ever told you?" He went silent for a few seconds, I remembered that Dutch was securing the phone line.

Hey, I've watched this movie a thousand times.

"Apollo. Moon. Aliens. Cover-up. Future tech. Assassinations. That kind of stuff." Sam shrugged. He waited a few seconds and then hung up. He looked at me. "He's on his way."

An hour later Simmons arrived.

"Tell Megatron... let's tango." He said as he walked into the apartment.

I snorted. "Now, that'd be interesting to see. How many hits do you think that'd get on YouTube?" I called after them.
