Chapter 5

He woke up in a different room, and when he opened his eyes, he was confused because he was on the ground, hiding behind a plant. He raised his eyebrows and was about to move when a girl who looked to be around his age walked in looking for someone.

At first, he thought this was another life he could have lived, but the girl spoke, and what she said shocked him.

"Hey, other me, where are you?" she asked.

Namjoon was shocked but looked at her, trying to figure out what she meant.

Suddenly Namjoon found himself standing in the middle of the room, and to his shock, he saw himself, but this version was happy.

"Where have you been?" he asked, his eyes downcast.

"I've been away because you needed to sort out your other emotions," smiled Happiness.

"But you left me, and I've been such a bad friend because I was so sad," said Namjoon, his voice shaking and his eyes filled with tears.

Happiness smiled and put his arm on him. "It's alright, I'm here now," he said.

Namjoon managed to choke out a sentence even though he was putting all his effort into not crying and said, "So are you going to join me again?"

"Yes and no," said Happiness.

"I don't understand," said Namjoon, his eyebrow furrowing.

Happiness laughed slightly and said, "I can only join you once you accept all your emotions."

Namjoon was about to reply when Happiness turned into the girl he saw earlier.

She walked up to him and put her hand on his cheek. "You might not want to show your friends weakness, but it's just me you can break in front of me," she said while rubbing his cheek.

Namjoon felt his eyes burn, and he swiped at them. "But I've been holding back so long, I'm afraid," he said, his voice shaking.

"You have nothing to be afraid of, Namjoon; it's only me; there's no one else around," smiled Happiness.

Namjoon thought about what happiness was saying, but then he thought of his other lives.

Maybe it was the fact that he carried such great sadness that his other lives were terrible. It was his fault.

He felt his body shake, and he felt his tears overflow. He looked at happiness and said, "I need help."

Happiness smiled and hugged him.

Namjoon felt all his emotions he had been holding back come to the surface, and for the first time in a while, he let himself breakdown, not just like when he cries while writing songs and watching movies. This was the type of crying he hadn't done since lockdown and the Speak Yourself Tour.

He buried his face into Happiness' shoulder, releasing all his tears; these weren't just tears from being slightly emotional, but tears of sadness, grief, and hurt that he hadn't dealt with all year long.

He didn't know how long he was standing there, but after a while, he calmed down and looked at Happiness.

"Thank you," he said.

Happiness smiled and said, "Your welcome; I can come back to you now."

Namjoon smiled. "How?" he asked.

Happiness smiled and walked over to the other side of the room.

"Put one hand up and walk slowly towards me," she said.

Namjoon did as he was told, put up one hand, and started walking slowly.

Happiness did the same thing, and when they got near each other, Namjoon felt happiness going through him, and he was whole again.

Namjoon felt slightly weird and sat down on the sofa, which he didn't know was there before, and the girl from outside the pub was there.

She sat down and said, "So are you ready to get back to normal life?"

Namjoon nodded, and he decided to talk to the girl.

Some time later, he was laughing and smiling like he hadn't done for a while.

"I think I'm ready," he said.

The girl patted him on the arm and said, "You were always ready; you just needed the self confidence."

Namjoon was confused, but before he could ask questions, there was a flash, and he found himself back at the bar with his friends.
