Previously on Chapter 17

I let out a sigh and yawn softly. I turn to my side. I reach down and grab my blanket, pulling it up close to my neck. I close my eyes and let myself drift off to sleep, with Camilo being the last person I think of.

-Welcome To The Family-

Y/N P.O.V

The Madrigal will be holding a party in Casita. What's the occasion? Well... they want to officially welcomes me to their family as a new addition. It makes me feel both flustered and happy because I'll finally be a part of a family.

"Rise and shine!!" Someone yelled, while bursting into my room. The sudden sound makes me jump awake. I jump out of the bed and look around with my fists raise, ready for a fight.

"What? Where? Who do we have to fight?? Come on! Bring it!" I said. I turn to look at Mirabel, to see her staring at me. I let out a sigh and sits on the bed. She burst out laughing which makes me roll my eyes.

"Was that really necessary?" I said. She stands back up and takes a few breath in and out, trying to regain her composure. But she ends up laughing again a second later. I roll my eyes and cross my arms.

I hear footsteps and someone else enters my room. Then someone enters my room. "What's going on? Why did Mirabel looking like a dying whale?" Camilo said. "Well... you cousin here, scared the living daylights out of me!" I said. Camilo turns to look at Mirabel as she still tries to control her breathing.

"How?" He said. "She burst into my room and yell out 'rise and shine'?" I said. "And she was like..." Mirabel starts, then she mimics my reaction. I roll my eyes.

"Oh you mean like..." Camilo said. He turns himself into me and do what Mirabel showed him. I let out a groan, as Mirabel burst out laughing. "That was SO accurate!" She said. Camilo burst out laughing as well. "You're mean... both of you..." I said, sulking.

They finally stops laughing. Mirabel walks towards me and takes a seat next to me. She wraps an arm around my shoulder. "Awe... we're sorry, Y/N. But you better get used to it. That's what it is to have a family..." she said. I just give her a sarcastic smile. I'll get them back one day.

Mirabel is helping me with my hair. She said I have to look extra good today, since this party is about me. Honestly, I don't really care what I look like. But she insisted that I should dress up.

I turn to look at Mirabel. "Awe... you're beautiful, Y/N!" She said, clapping her hand excitedly. "Thanks, Mirabel..." I said, smiling at her.

"Come on... it's almost time for your party" she said. I nod my head. She loops her arm with mine. Then we make our way outside.

"Mirabel! Help me with this!" Julieta said. Mirabel turns to look at me apologetically. I just smile at her. "Go on..." I said. She gives me a quick hug and head of to where her mother is. I hum to the song that is playing in the background. I let my body flow to the rhythm of the music. Eventually, I started to dance.

Camilo P.O.V

I'm standing by the balcony. I stare at Y/N who is dancing. I want to ask for a dance with her, but I'm a little shy.

"You really like her, don't you?" I hear someone said. "Yes... I-I mean..." I stuttered after realizing what I said the first time. I turn around to see Mami. She smiles as she looks at me.

"If you like her that much... why didn't you just tell her how you feel? Just go and approach her before someone else does. Y/N is beautiful, yes?" She said. "Um. Yeah... she's breathtaking" I stuttered. "Then someone else would also think that way. So I suggest you should hurry" she said. She ruffles my hair and walks off.

I turn to look at Y/N to see her talking to a boy. The sight instantly makes me feel bitter. She's laughing at whatever that boy is saying. I'm Camilo! I'm way more funnier than that boy!

"Go to her, drama queen. I can see jealousy written all over your face" someone said. I turn my head to see Mirabel. "What if she didn't see me that way?" I said. "Oh please... you won't know if you don't talk to her..." she said. "I don't know..." I said. She lets out a sigh.

"Casita? A little help" she said. "Uh... what are you doing?" I said. I let out a yelp when casita starts to move me towards the stairs. "Mirabeeel!!!" I yelled. She just laugh behind me.

We reach the 1st floor. She grabs my wrist and pulls me to closer Y/N. "Mirabel. No... stop!" I said. "Oh hush. You want to talk to her, you know it. So man up and talk to her" she said. She push me forward, making me stumble a little. But I manage to keep myself steady. I turn to glare at Mirabel.

"Oh, hello Camilo..." a soft voice said. I gulp at the voice, already knowing who it is. I turn to look at Y/N. "H-Hey, Y/N..." I said.

Y/N P.O.V

I'm talking to a boy name Marco. He's a little too flirty for my liking. I try to give him signs that I'm not interested in him. But he just keep on doing whatever he's doing right now.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I can see Camilo. He's being dragged by Mirabel. She pushes Camilo which makes him stumble, but he manage to steady and not fall over.

"Oh, hello Camilo..." I said. He turns to me and gulp. "H-Hey, Y/N..." he said. He looks nervous right now. I turn to look at Marco and smile at him. "I'll be off now..." I said. He just nods his head. I notice him sending Camilo an annoyed expression. But I just ignore him. I turn to look at Camilo and walks up to him.

"Are you okay?" I said, looking at him worriedly. "I... y-yeah..." he said. Another music starts to play. This is one of my favorite songs.

"Y/N?" Camilo said. I turn to look at him. "May I have this dance?" He said, offering his hand to me. I blink in surprise and smiles at him. "You may..." I said, placing my hand on top of his. He smiles and holds my hands firmly. He place a hand on my hip and we start to dance.

The rest of the nights is spend filled with laughter between Camilo and I. I can see ourselves being an even closer friend. But is that all we'll ever be? I really like Camilo... I can only wish that he'd see me the same way as I see him. I wish he'd return my feelings.

The song is soon over. Abuela asks for everyone's attention. We turn our heads to look at her. She gives everyone a smile.

"Tonight, we welcome a new addition to my family. Even after everything that's been happening to her. She still tries her best and helps us. She even help our dear Mirabel to save the magic. Everyone... give a big round of applause to Y/N L/N!" She said. Everyone starts clapping their hands as they turn to look at me. Casita points a light to me, giving me a spotlight.

Bruno walks up to me. He place a flower necklace around my neck. "Welcome to the family, kid..." he said. "Thank you, Tio Bruno..." I said. He smiles brightly as he twirls us around. I let out a laugh as I hold onto his shoulders.

He place me back on my feet and hugs me again. I laugh happily and hugs him back. I pull away and winced when Luisa comes, pulling me into a tight... bone-crushing hug.

I let out a wheeze when she lets me go. The rest of the Madrigals takes turns in giving me a hug, even Isabela.

"I'm sorry for what I said, Y/N. I was wrong. You are one of us..." Isabela said, smiling at me with her hands on my shoulders. I smile happily, as I hug her with tears in my eyes, she happily returns my hug. This keeps going on for a while as I hug the rest of the family. The last one is Camilo.

"Welcome to the family, Y/N..." he said. "Thank you, Camilo" I said. He pulls me closer. I lean my head against his chest, hugging his torso tightly. Finally... after searching for so long. I can finally feel what it's like to be a part of a family.

A/N: Bruno is cute in this chapter, don't you think? Aside from Camilo, he's one of my fav character in Encanto. Maybe after this, I'm going to write a story about him. What do you think? Also... I just realize something.
