Chapter 11
<Stiles' POV>
Ever since the incident with Lydia she has been attached to me by the hip. We thanked all of our friends for the help and said our see you laters. After that I took Lydia back to my place. Originally I had her sleep in the bed, but when she got up in the middle of the night and joined me on the couch, I decided no harm could come from us sleeping in the same bed. Each night she curls up into me and I just play with her hair until I fall asleep. Scott is staying at my apartment to, along with Isaac who sold his own apartment to earn some extra cash before we move to the country. Lydia and Allison's friends Kira and Malia who lived together did the same thing along with Allison herself. The three girls joined the rest of us in my small apartment. It is crowded, but we are making it work. Now all we have to do before we leave is sell my apartment and get a cheap place in the country. We decided that Vermont was our best bet to find a quiet place. There is a small town called Jay that would be perfect to lay low in.
Selling my apartment is proving harder than we thought. No one seems to be buying. Unfortunately, the longer we stay here, the worse Lydia gets. On the bright side Scott and Allison are really hitting it off. After Scott was left at the alter I'm happy that he has found some one else that is making him happy. Things are awkward between Malia and I since I was forced to sleep with her and all. Now for some reason she thinks that we are a thing. She even blew up on me one night when I had put Lydia to bed with a kiss on the forehead. Lydia and I are not together, but neither are Malia and I. I just can't seem to shake Malia off my back. Kira gets along really well with Isaac, Scott, and I. I asked Lydia about it and she said that Kira was always more comfortable with guys. Kira has become the little sister, Lydia the one we need to protect, Allison has become motherly, and Malia is the one we need to keep a watchful eye on. Malia isn't all a bad girl. Sometimes when she is around Kira late at night she seems more at ease. Meanwhile Isaac has not stopped fantasizing over Lydia and Allison's friend Cora who helped us get into Lydia apartment. He has not seen her since, but she is all he talks about.
Allison and Scott push open the front door using the spare key that Scott owns and I can smell the food from the living room where Lydia is sleeping in my lap. Her head resting on my thighs, her legs draped over Kira's lap. "Food everyone!" Allison yells. Kira gently moves Lydia's legs off of her lap and walks to the kitchen to get some of the Chinese take out Scott and Allison picked up. I brush the hair out of Lydia's face, waking her up in the process. Her eyelids flutter open, revealing a magnificent emerald green.
"Scott and Ali brought food, do you want some?" I ask quietly. Lydia only shrugs and sits up from my lap. I get up myself and join everyone else in the kitchen. Scott pulls plates out from the cabinet and Allison sets out some drinks. Isaac smirks at the "parent-like" couple.
"Thanks mom," he tells Allison, who back hands him on the back of his head. He grumbles before recovering and filling his plate with food. After all of our plates are full we all move to the living room where The Breakfast Club is playing on the television. I take my seat next to Lydia again. Allison sits on her other side with Scott to her right, the four of us barely fitting, but none of us complain. Isaac sits in the big chair closest to the television. Kira and Malia sit on either sides of the coffee table to eat.
After awhile of silent eating Lydia glances at my nearly empty plate and snatches a piece of sweet and sour chicken. She plops the food in her mouth and I smirk. "Why don't you get a plate, you should eat," I tell her hopefully. She shakes her head.
"Not that hungry," Lydia claims. I catch Allison gaze. She is looking between Lydia and I with a concerned expression.
"Mal, you gonna eat that?" Isaac asks from the chair, referring to the rice on Malia's plate. She shakes her head.
"Nah, go for it," she says, casually handing her plate to the hungry boy. The silence return again to the group and I move around in my spot uncomfortable.
"I was looking online and I found a house we could live in, it's not in Jay, but it's in the next town over, Newport," Kira informs us, "it's a big log cabin, sounds fun right?" Kira exclaims, aiming her statement more towards Lydia who feeds on good news.
"How was the price?" Scott questions. Kira shrugs.
"Between all of us, doable," she claims. The phone let's out loud shrills from the kitchen and I jump at the sudden noise. Handing Lydia my plate, I stand up and rush to the telephone.
"Hello?" I answer casually. The voice on the other end of the line is high pitched. It's definitely a girl.
"Hi, I'm Marie Moschitta and I saw your apartment for sale in the newspaper."
"Okay."
"My girlfriend and I are interested in checking out the place if we could set up a day," Marie offers. I nod even though she can not see me.
"Ya that sounds great what days are you free?" I ask happily.
"Any day this week."
"Okay how about two days from now, Tuesday around twelve o'clock?" I offer.
"That sounds great, we will see you then!"
"Awesome," I say before hanging up with a smile on my face. Scott cranes his neck to look back at me over the couch.
"Who was that?"
"Someone interested in the apartment, they are coming in two days to check out the place so keep it neat," I demand. The first person I look at is Lydia. For the first time in awhile I see her smile genuinely. It warms my heart to knew that the news I brought made her happy.
A few hours later, around nine o'clock Kira and Isaac are deep into an x-box game, Malia watching them amused. Allison and Scott are in a happy conversation on the chair near the television. All smiles and flirtatious movements. Lydia is outside on the small balcony, in my pajama pants and big long sleeved shirt, barely hiding her from the cold early winter air. The small tendrils of hair that have escaped from the bun on the top of her head blow around in the night breeze as she looks over the railing, resting her elbows on it.
As I stand in the kitchen I fill two wine glasses with a simple red wine and make my way towards the balcony door. I know Lydia despises white wine. She doesn't even glance back at me when the door to outside makes a loud squeaking sound. She barely flinches. I make my way next to her and hand her the wine glass casually. She looks out at the close knit buildings. "I hate it here, I always have," she says quietly before taking a small sip of the liquid.
"I know," I reply casually.
"You guys," Lydia starts, referring to everyone in my apartment, "are the only good things that came out of this god forsaken city," she claims before yet again sipping the red drink. I smirk.
"And Sylvester Stallone," I say jokingly, referring to the fact that the actor was born in New York City. Lydia smiles a little.
"Fan of the Rocky series are you?" She asks. I mock a fake pout.
"Spy Kids actually, his performance as the toy keeper was phenomenal," I mention sarcastically. Lydia manages a little bit of a laugh, but then frowns.
"How is it that I'm living with you, but I barely know anything about you?" Lydia asks me quietly, I barely hear her over the wind.
"I know that you don't like white wine, you need to have a cup of tea before bed, you need at least two pillows to sleep on, and you are oddly afraid of telephone poles," I say with a slight smile. She bites her lip in amusement, but the emotion doesn't stay on her face for long.
"But what do I know about you?" Lydia asks more clearly. I shrug.
"You know my name, you know my mother died, you know my father is a cop, you know my best friend, you know what I smell like-"
"I mean your likes and dislikes Stiles," Lydia cuts in. Biting my lip, I try to think about what I've told Lydia.
"Perhaps you are right, I haven't told you much about me, that needs to change." Lydia smiles.
"Go for it." I take deep breath.
"I used to have a god awful buzz-cut, my name is not actually Stiles, no I am not telling you what it is, I love pierce the veil, x-box is calming to me, I want to go out for law enforcement since I have a degree, I just haven't used it," I explain quickly, "I like Marvel more than DC, Star Wars has been my favorite movie series for years, Scott and I were pretty much dirt in high school, I hate strawberry ice cream, and I am deeply in love with coffee... and you." Lydia smirks through all the information I was giving her until I mentioned that last statement.
"Stiles," she say quickly, not in a harsh town, but definitely serious.
"What?" I ask knowingly. She sighs.
"Just please keep it on the down low, wait until we are out of here," she begs. I nod. She yawns slightly. "I think I'm going to go to bed," she says. I smirk.
"I'll make the tea."
A/N Holy lord an update! Are you surprised? Ya me too.
