Chapter 4

              A New Place

When I woke up I was in a soft bed… waite bed. Where am I. Then it all came back. The coughing, the woman, the cold nights, Luna… LUNA where was she. I got out of bed and started looking. After looking in the room I was in which looked antique, I opened the door and went down stairs. I wandered into the kitchen where I saw the woman. She was wearing dark blue jeans and a light pink and white tank top and her hair was in a messy ponytail “Hello, how are you feeling? You were coughing pretty bad when you came”

“Better where's my dog”

“The puppy? Oh she’s right here.” I walked to her side and saw Luna.

“Luna! Hey girl”

“So What’s your name”

‘Nao”

Then I realized Luna’s size.

“How long was I out?”

“A week and ½“

“Wow” was all I said

“You hungry” I nodded “ok it's close to lunchtime anyway want to help”

“What am I helping with?”

“Nothing fancy just hot dogs and chips”

“Ok I can do that.”

   After we got done with lunch she offered to show me around. While we were outside and looking at the amazing horses she has I asked what did I have exactly? “Well I'm not sure but I am sure you got awful close to dying. I wasn't sure you would make it”

I paused “So why did you keep me here? Why didn't you take me too a hospital?”

“Wow you don't know about Newark do you? It's gone all the buildings are either blown up or burned to the ground.”

“Oh.” I simply said “So where are you headed? Home? visiting family?”

“I only have my mom and she kicked me out. I was moving to Newark planning to start a horse ranch

“Well you could stay here”

“really”

“well yea I mean this is what you wanted a horse ranch, Luna loves it here, and I think you do too. Not to mention I could use some help with the fouls next spring they can be quite a handful.”

I didn't know what to say I practically launched myself at her in a hug “Thank You Ma’am!” I said with my arms still wrapped around her.

“Please just call me Lea.”

“Ok thank you Lea”

“You're welcome.” We walked to the house and as we did I couldn't help but think I survived.

I survived being kicked out my my mom

I survived not having a home

I survived the sickness

   I SURVIVED! And I will face a lot in the future. But no matter what it is... I will survive!
