Chapter 2

   New, New, New

   "What do you think Luna? Ohio or Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania there are more job opportunities. But if we went to Ohio, there is a better chance I could live out my dream. Which is to have my own ranch. And it's closer to Maine. Well, we could try Ohio... and if it doesn't work out we can go to Pennsylvania. Yes, that's what we'll do. And we still have time to travel before I turn into a pumpkin."

      When we hit the interstate Luna was sound asleep. Who would abandon such a beautiful pup and at only three weeks old it still needs its mother . I know how to raise it but... raising a three week old pup that was now mine is different than taking care of a three month old pup for two weeks. Even the lessons at the animal shelter didn't teach me how to care for a three week old pup that should still be with her mom but... I guess I'm her mom now so I'll figure it out.

   Ok. We should be able reach Newark in three days. If we go easy on the restaurants and only get one hotel,  then we should have a little extra money after we pay for gas. "Guess we're in this together Luna. Now let's get to Newark, Ohio."

      That night we slept under the stars. They were so amazing like snowflakes they were all different. In Maine I never really had a chance to stargaze with all the lights. I really missed out. That night it didn't rain so I was able to sleep under the stars the whole night.

     When I awoke the sun was just coming up above the horizon. The sky was a beautiful mixture of red, pink, orange, and purple. I gasped it was so beautiful but I only took time to stare at the sunrise for a few minutes before starting the car. But when I looked over at Luna she was gone! "Luna! Luna! LUNA!" I called out. Much to my relief Luna came. (sigh) Luna you can't run off like that you could get hurt! But either way I'm glad you're safe. I should have expected this you're a 3 week old pup.  you're gonna want to explore and which means you will get in trouble. What am I going to do I can't cage you that would be cruel and I can't let you loose  you could get yourself killed maybe keep you in a big fenced field till you get old enough to be trained ya I could do that and  maybe get an older dog from a shelter to keep you company yes that could work.

       When I walked into the hotel I just wanted to sleep Hi I would like your cheapest room which I believe is $75.00. An old woman put down the newspaper she was reading she had a beautiful medium skin like mine but instead of Brown eyes she had Green "you are correct and today is your lucky day because that room is open and no one has reserved it" cool "room 213" thanks "enjoy your stay" I will thanks again "your welcome sweetheart oh and what is your name"Nao... Nao Jackson "thank you."

     I went to my room, fell on the soft bed, and was instantly asleep with Luna in my arms.

   When I woke up I was excited I was getting close to Newark, Ohio I should be there in two more days which was only a little longer than I expected. I quickly got dressed and right after I brushed my hair I heard a knock at the door when I opened the door I saw the lady from the desk I stole a glance at her nametag and saw her name was Ava. "Hi Ava."

"Hello I brought you some breakfast and don't worry it's free."

"Wow thanks. That looks so good!" I heard Ava giggle at my response. "Hmmm my favorite, bacon and eggs." "Good I was hoping you would like them"  

"Thank you your the best"

"You're welcome and if you want anything else I will be down stairs"

"I will remember that and thanks Ava."

"No problem sweetheart"

     When I was done with breakfast I started to pack what little I unpacked then headed down stairs to give Ava the tray she put my breakfast on. When I gave her the tray she smiled and thanked me for staying. About 2 hours later the car broke down.
