Mathias Køhler

All his life, Mathias felt the urge to take care of living beings, be that animals or people. He would help frogs to the other side of the road, and he'd take abandoned baby mice he found home with him.

His sister was annoyed by this, and so she told him he needed to become a nurse. Nurses took care of people, and they earned a living with it.

"Matt, you gotta become a nurse. Nurses take care of people all day long, and they are respected. Also, you can earn yourself a living by helping others, which I think is something you'd like." She said one day, and he did as she said. He went to medical school, graduated, and became a nurse. When his sister died of an undefined illness, he was glad he took her advice.

Mathias worked in different hospitals, but in all of them he was 'too loud' for the patients he nursed to bear. So, he tried for another hospital, one for people who couldn't take care of themselves anymore. It wasn't only for elderly people, there were also departments for younger people who were simply not in a state to live alone.

Mathias applied for a job there, and stated he'd prefer to work with younger people in his job interview. He got the job, and that's where he heard stories about a lonely Norwegian boy who was a master of storytelling.

"Excuse me, but, could you tell me more about this boy?" He'd asked, with a grin on his face. The other nurses complied and told him everything they knew.

"Well, you see, he's called Lukas Bondevik or something... No, it's definitely Bondevik. He came here when he was about 21, I'd say, and he was diagnosed with MS. He'd faint regularly and he had lost sight in one of his eyes for a while, and he was paralyzed, half of his body, at least.

The paralysis went away soon enough though, and he was like normal again. When he could still stand, he painted every inch of his walls, as he didn't want to be reminded he was in a hospital, and he told stories to everyone who would listen.

But then, his knees gradually became too weak and his legs, his feet mainly, were unable to keep him standing. When he noticed he would never stand again, he fell into some kind of depression as he stopped telling stories and he pushed everyone away. Some of us have written his stories down or recorded them, but it's not the same as hearing them in person."

The nurses he'd asked had told him this, each time filling eachother in and letting out a sigh at the end. Lukas had piqued Mathias interest, and he made a bold move.

"Can I take care of him?"
