I will always love you chapter: 70 Michael POV

I told her everything. I took the leap of faith, and opened myself to her. I let her see me at my most vulnerable state and I cried in front of her. She said nothing; passed no judgment. She just listened, and I knew that I could trust her. She is the confidant that I needed. We sat on the roof, and between us was something. Something good, and it felt good. Out of an impulse, I took her hands in mine and pulled her closer to me. I placed my hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes. She had beautiful eyes that were almost black, and I could stay lost in them forever. I leaned towards her while trying to decide if I should kiss her or not. Would she be scared away? Does she feel that way about me? I doubted myself and I placed a kiss above her mouth. I let my lips linger there for a moment contemplating if I should stop or not. I sat back and looked at her. She was sitting still with her eyes closed and leaning in. I was about to kiss her again, but her eyes popped open and she looked at me like a deer in headlights. She abruptly got up and said,

"Uh, well I have to go home now..." I felt so bad. She was running away from me. I scared her away with a stupid kiss. Why couldn't I just let us be friends? Why couldn't I just keep my feelings to myself? Nice going, now she'll never want to come back over.

"Ok... Well I'll walk you back." I said as more of a question than a statement because I wasn't sure if she would want me near her.

"Ok." She walked swiftly ahead of me. I jogged a little to catch up. We got to her porch, and she wouldn't even look me in the eyes. She said,

"Well thanks for walking me back. I'll see you around I guess."

"Yeah. No problem. Hey I'm usually up at this time if you ever can't sleep, just give me a ring if you want?" I said trying to feel out her thoughts.

"Oh, yeah, of course. Goodnight Michael." She then turned on her heel and went inside. I rolled my eyes at myself and massaged my temples and thought, 'Jeez now Nelson definitely has her.' I walked back to my house and tried to sleep.
