"You don't have to do this," Jimin assures as Jungkook squeezes his hand.
"I want to," Jungkook whispers.
Silence.
"Promise you'll stay by my side?"
"Baby, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be with you."
"Thank you," Jungkook mumbles.
They enter the hall of the museum where Namjoon's statue stands, pearl white glistening in the dull hall.
Jimin's hand gently squeezes Jungkook's and he gives the other a comforting smile.
"It'll be okay," he promises.
The pearl white of the sculpture fades slowly, and Jungkook's eyes are wide as he watches Namjoon blink a couple of times. Jimin takes a step back and gently pulls his hand away from Jungkook to give them some privacy.
Namjoon's eyes meet Jungkook's brown ones. He reaches a hand out as he steps down from the stone but Jungkook makes no move to hold it. He just stares into Namjoon's eyes, tears welling up in them.
"You did not listen to me, not even when I begged you to. Not when I pleaded."
"I have no excuse to give you for my behaviour," says Namjoon, "may I see, darling?"
See how much damage I caused you with my poor, impulsive decisions. See how much you needed me and I wasn't by you to give you the comfort you needed.
Jungkook raises a shaky hand and Namjoon takes a step closer, taking the other's hand in his. He looks at Jimin, and motions for him to hold Jungkook's other hand. Jimin does so, slipping his fingers between Jungkook's.
"Show me," says Namjoon and his palms glow golden.
Jimin looks around, the museum fading around them. A garden appears and Jimin blinks when he sees Jungkook crouched down, tending to the flowers.
It strikes him then.
Jungkook's memory of that day is what plays before them.
Suddenly, someone appears and Jimin assumed him to be God Alexander. The God eyes the angel, eyes filled with lust and Jimin feels his blood boil, his grip on Jungkook's hand tightening.
"Oh, you beautiful, glorious one."
"God Alexander, what is it that brings you to these gardens?" Jungkook in the memory asks as he gives him a respectful bow.
"Why, my dear one. It is you who lured me here."
Jungkook tilts his head, a puzzled look on his face.
"Me?"
"You, indeed, precious."
"What do you want, Alexander?"
"You, darling. Your innocence is what I seek."
With that, he reaches out and grabs Jungkook's hand.
"I'm not yours to have," the angel cries and tries to pull his hand away from the God.
"You should know better than to deny a God of his wishes," laughs Alexander as he grips Jungkook's hand tighter and all but rips the clothes off Jungkook's body as he forces himself upon him.
Jimin tears his gaze away, his own eyes pricking with tears as Jungkook's pleas reach his ears.
"It hurts. Please stop. Stop," he sobs.
"Don't lie. I know you like it," says the God.
And there's a scream that tears past Jungkook's throat, a scream that causes Jimin to screw his eyes shut, tears running down his cheeks. Because there's nothing he can do to stop this. There's nothing he can do to take this away. It's there. It's happened. His Jungkook suffered.
And the image fades. Jungkook's hand slips out of Namjoon's grip as he crumbles to the floor with a loud sob. Jimin kneels with him, holding the younger close to him and rocking them gently.
Jimin cradles his head, pressing light kisses to his hair.
"You're safe now. You're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you again, baby."
Namjoon's face is clouded with a mix of emotions. He finally kneels beside them and speaks, "my darling, what a grave mistake I made."
Jungkook doesn't look up from Jimin's shoulder.
"How I've hurt you. How much you've suffered and all because of me."
Jimin feels anger pulse through his veins as he sets a glare on Namjoon, jaw clenched.
"You didn't hear him out when he came to you. You cast him out of your kingdom with a curse, Namjoon! A curse! The last thing he needed."
Jimin's grip on Jungkook tightens, "he didn't deserve any of it. Fuck you, Namjoon!"
The God's eyes widen and then a sad smile creeps on his lips, "I deserve that I guess."
Jungkook slowly pulls away from Jimin and looks at Namjoon.
"I'm sorry," says Namjoon, "but a sorry can't undo the mess I've made. You suffered so much, my little angel. I'm so sorry I made you go through all this. As Jimin rightly said, you didn't deserve any of it. And I do not deserve your forgiveness."
Namjoon's thumb caressed Jungkook's cheek.
"My beautiful angel. I'm so sorry."
A tear trickles down his cheek.
"I should have protected you but instead I failed you. I hurt you."
Jungkook's lower lip wobbles.
"But the heavens knew it. They sent Park Jimin to you. I know for a fact that he'll protect you more than I ever could."
Namjoon's eyes meet Jimin's.
"For one, he's not afraid to challenge a God for you, I can certainly tell."
Jungkook smiles and looks up at Jimin, eyes shining with unshed tears.
"I can't forgive you," mumbles Jungkook to Namjoon, "I...just can't."
"I never expected you to. For my act to you deserves no forgiveness. All I wished for was to see you and to apologise to you."
Jungkook slips out of Jimin's arms and crawls into Namjoon's hug. No words are said after that. No words need to be spoken.
To be continued . . .
