Day After Day, Guy After Guy

Jay's Perspective-

As the weeks went by, Jay got closer with Jimmy.

They became great friends and Jay even convinced Jimmy to join D&D.

"It was very fun." Jimmy said after the first session.

"Told you!" Jay smiled.

"Now come on, I can help draw out your character." Jay said, taking out his tablet and drawing pencil.

"Oh, we have to draw it?"

"No, but it's fun to."

Jay showed Jimmy his character and Jimmy was in awe.

"How can you draw like that?" Jimmy asked, watching as Jay opened up a new document to start drawing Jimmy's character.

Jay shrugged, "I've always seemed to have some drawing talent."

"You have a lot of talents." Jimmy said, sitting down on Jay's bed.

"You're good at basketball, you're good at drawing, good at D&D, advice." Jimmy listed things off his fingers before sighing, "I'm not good at anything."

"Hey," Jay threw a pencil at Jimmy who laughed and swatted it away, "You are good at things."

"Really? Like what?"

"You're good at being awkward." Jay smiled jokingly.

"Oh, shut up." Jimmy said, but he was also smiling.

Jay chuckled and walked over to sit next to Jimmy.

"But seriously," He said as he started drawing, "You are good at things. You're very outgoing and caring, you're funny and always seem to make people feel better."

"Eh, not really- "

"Just listen, will you?" Jay said a bit jokingly, "I need you to hear this."

Jimmy shut up as he watched Jay draw.

"You're very confident and don't seem to care about what people think about you, and your brain works fast. If there's a problem or a situation, you know what to do almost immediately."

"But I'm not smart, I'm not nearly as confident as you, you're way better at advice than I am- "

"And that's your flaw." Jay said, "You never think highly of yourself. Now I know there's that danger zone of thinking too high of yourself, but you gotta give yourself credit. Over the months, I've been noticing that whenever someone compliments you, you immediately deny it and say that you messed up."

Jimmy bit his lip.

"You just gotta accept the compliments." Jay smiled softly and Jimmy smiled weakly back.

"Don't worry," Jay patted his back, "I'll help you through it."

"Now," He said, clapping his hands, "Can I see your character sheet?"

"Er- sure, let me go grab it from my room."

Jimmy got up and left and Jay continued to draw.

Just then, Scott poked his head in.

Jay didn't look up but said, "What do you need Scott?"

"Oh, er- me and Charlie are gonna go out- "

"Why are you telling me this?" Jay asked, looking up at Scott.

"Because I just thought you would want to know where I would go- "

"Why would I want to know where you're going to abuse this guy?"

Scott looked embarrassed, "I'm not abusing him!"

Jay scoffed and shook his head.

"Tell that to Eleanor." He mumbled.

"Sorry?" Scott said, leaning in, "Didn't quite catch that."

Jay looked into Scott's eyes, shooting him a glare.

"Tell that to Eleanor." He said coldly.

Scott returned the glare before turning around and storming out with his 'boyfriend'.

Jimmy then returned to see an angry Jay, furiously drawing.

"Er- you okay?" Jimmy asked.

Jay took a deep breath and nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine."

Jimmy raised an eyebrow, "Er- okay. I thought I just heard you shouting at Scott."

Jay shook his head, "It was nothing."

Jimmy nodded slowly and watched in silence as Jay drew.

"So...did you see Scott's new boyfriend?"

Jay nodded, "Yeah. I think his name's Charlie or something stupid."

"Yeah...do you know what happened with Eleanor?"

"Er- kind of. Why?"

"Eleanor was talking with me earlier, we got paired up in science, and he seemed really off and upset."

Hopefully he's back with his friends after what Scott did to him. Jay thought.

"And he asked if he could borrow some money to get some lunch. He seemed really upset too."

"Did he?"

"Yeah. He kept promising he would pay me back and I told him it was fine and that he didn't have to. But it's weird..." Jimmy trailed off.

"What is?"

"I just...I don't know...he always bought things for Scott. I thought he had a bunch of money saved up or something, so I was a bit confused when he asked to borrow some."

Jay shrugged, not wanting to get into this conversation as he probably would've snapped.

"And...I don't know, it's just weird." Jimmy said.

"Yeah." Jay nodded.

After a couple more minutes, Jimmy left to go get food.

"I'll get something for you, too." Jimmy said before leaving.

Jay stopped drawing and stretched.

He zoomed out and smiled.

This is definitely one of my better drawings.

He then got up to get some water.

As he did so, he started thinking about Scott.

Does he know what he's doing is wrong?

Jay started pacing.

He must. I mean, every abuser knows what they're doing. Like they plan it.

A different voice started debating in his head.

'But maybe Scott doesn't know what he's doing. Maybe he just started doing it. Maybe he has a dark past or something and doesn't know that he's being a bitch.'

Most bullies know what they're doing...there's no way he doesn't. Dark past or not, he must know how he's making these people feel.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Jay opened it and was surprised to see Eleanor.

"Oh, sorry Jay. I'm just here to pay back Jimmy." Eleanor said awkwardly, handing Jay some money.

"Oh, thanks." Jay said, taking the money.

Eleanor started to leave, and Jay said, "Hey, wait. Do you wanna eat with me and Jimmy? He's out picking up food, I can tell him to get some for you."

"Oh, er- sure!" Eleanor smiled walking in.

They sat down at the counter and Eleanor coughed awkwardly as Jay texted Jim.

"So," Jay said, pocketing his phone, "Er- do you mind if I ask you something?"

"Course! Why wouldn't I be?"

"I just...you might get offended or something."

"Oh...what is it?"

"I was just wondering what your relationship with Scott was like."

Eleanor froze and he looked nervous.

"You don't have to answer if you don't- "

"No, no, it's fine." Eleanor said, though he didn't look like it was.

Just then, Jimmy walked in with food.

They all started eating, and Eleanor and Jay continued their conversation from before.

Eleanor took a deep breath and started fidgeting with his jacket.

"At first, it was fine. It was great, even." He said, smiling weakly, "I had never felt happier. At least that's what I thought. It slowly turned to chaos as he asked me to buy him more and more things. I didn't notice it and I actually became really sad with him. I started to hate spending time with him, but he kept inviting me over and I just went with it. Even after my friends warning me about Scott, I just stayed with him. I was worried that if I broke up with him, he would get heartbroken which would make me really sad."

Eleanor then sighed, "And then you pointed out what he was doing; called him out for it."
Eleanor then looked up at Jay and smiled, "I really appreciate you doing that. I'm getting back on my feet, but the money issues will take a bit."

"That's good." Jay said, "So do you think Scott meant to use you for money, or no?"

Eleanor tilted his head, "I don't understand what you're asking."

"Did Scott immediately start asking you for favors and stuff, or was it something that happened over time?"

Eleanor thought for a second before saying, "Well, it was kind of like- "

Just then, the door opened and a giggling, blushing Scott walked in, holding hands with Charlie.

Eleanor turned around and tried to ignore them.

"Oh! Hey guys." Charlie waved but only Jimmy waved back.

"Er- we're gonna be in my room." Scott said before he and Charlie left.

Once they heard the door closed, Eleanor got up.

"I should go." He said, heading towards the door.

"You don't have to leave just because of Scott." Jay said, getting up after Eleanor.

"Er- no! I just remembered I had something to do..."

Jay realized that Eleanor didn't want to be here so he didn't push him.

"Okay...well do you wanna shoot some hoops with me and Jimmy tomorrow?"

Eleanor shook his head and smiled weakly, "No thanks. I'm not really a sports guy."

Jay then nodded and Eleanor waved goodbye.

"Bye! Thanks for the food, Jim."

And he left.

"Okay." Jimmy yawned as he got up, "Well, I'm gonna go to bed."

Jay nodded, still thinking about what Eleanor was going to say before Scott walked in.

"You should too." Jimmy said as he walked over to his room.

"I will in a bit, I just have some homework to finish up."

"Okay! Well, night." Jimmy smiled.

"Night." Jay smiled back and watched as Jimmy walked into his room.

Jay cleaned up his spot before going to his room.

He heard Scott and Charlie's giggles through the wall, so he put on his headphone's and shuffled his playlist as he got out his math homework.

After a while, he went to bed, but couldn't fall asleep.

He sighed as he turned to face the tiny window.

What was Eleanor going to say?
