A Tale of Dream

A white muslin splayed  beneath the starry night.
And a tale there played of princess and knight.
With a soft zephyr  scenes changed.
Another tale played, making my smile take a plight.
I saw my dear departed that I somehow estranged.
Looking at me with eyes sans any light.
A cry escaped, possibly mine.
For being a disappointment perhaps it served me right.
A thought echoed, "Weren't you the one to draw the line."
And I tried everything to make it quite.
The thin curtain of tale and reality thinned.
And my hands trembled as if they sinned.
No words were exchanged, no warmth was spared;
Finally the bittersweet dream's end was declared.
