Chapter 13

4 years later..

"Thank you.", Daw said after receive his Ice latte.

He was about to step out from the cafe when someone called his name.

"Daw."

Daw turned to see the familiar person he haven't met for about a year and a half.

"Hey, captain."

"Hey, Top.", Daw said. They shake hand before did a bro hug.

"Haven't seen you for a long time.", Top said.

"Me too.", Daw said. He was happy as he can meet a friend from his university year. He scanned Top from hair to toes.

"You didn't change much. Still changing girlfriends like you did when we're still students?", Daw asked with a smirk.

"Don't be too sarcastic, dude.", Top replied. "Hey, let's sit first. We haven't meet for a long time. We should talk for a bit. Wait, you're not busy right?"

"No. We can talk."

"Great."

Both of them find an empty table to sit. Daw sit alone when Top excuses himself to order a drink. After that Top came back with an americano in his hand.

"So, what are you doing now?", Top asked.

"I started working after I did my internship. How bout you?", Daw replied.

"Same. I started working too.", Top replied and take a sip of his drink.

Daw stared at Top. He suddenly remember his friend, Ice. How is he doing now? Did he already came back? Still single?

Daw was about to asked him when suddenly the person's phone infront of him rang.

"Hello.", Top pick up the call. "Yup! I'm already here.... Erm. Just come in."

"Your girlfriend?", Daw asked when Top put down his phone.

"No. Just a friend.", Top replied. Daw nodded. "Er. I'm going to the toilet first. If my friend arrived you guys can talk for a bit."

Daw just nodded. He was left alone after that. Daw play with his phone to kill the time and bored. Suddenly Top's phone rang again. He saw the caller on the screen.

'Cold Prince'

Daw was hesitate to answer but it is not good to let the call unanswered. Daw took the phone and pick up the call.

"Hello.", Daw greeted.

"Did I call the wrong person? Whay Top's voice change?", the person on the call mumbled. Daw grinned.

He sounds cute.

"I'm sorry. You call the right number. I'm Top's friend. He's in the toilet now. What can I help you?", Daw said.

"Oh, really. Erm, where are you guys sitting?", he asked.

"Where are you?", Daw asked. He turned back to search for the person. He saw someone standing with a phone on his ear not far from the entrance, showing his back to Daw.

"Erm, sir. Look back, over here.", Daw said.

"Where?", he asked then turn his body to Daw.

"Behind---"

Both were froze.

"Ice?"

Impossible. Ice is mute. He can't talk. But..

"Daw?", the person called his name. His voice was a little shaking and cracked.

The person who called just now finally seat in front of Daw. Both didn't talk anything.

"Er.. I---"

"I--I'm going to order first.", Ice said then stood up.

"Oh, okay.", Daw just watched Ice walked away to the counter.

Daw let out a sigh. He didn't know he could be this nervous when meeting Ice after 4 years.

"Hey. You look so tense.", Top asked when he finally came back from the toilet.

"Dude, you didn't tell me it's Ice.", Daw complained.

"Should I tell you every detail?", Top said.

"You prick!", Daw cursed. He stop talking when Ice came back.

Top smirked when he saw his bestfriend and Daw didn't talk anything. Come on! What's with this awkward moment.

"Hey, talk a bit. Don't mind me. I'm invisible.", Top said tried to tease the two.

"Damn, you!", Ice uttered.

"What?", Top asked.

Daw just chuckled. He steal a glance at Ice. The person didn't change that much too. Still the cold person he used to know years ago.

"Erm. I have a meeting with my friends. I'll leave you guys here for now.", Top said.

"Hey. You said you going to spend time with me.", Ice asked.

"I'm sorry my friend. We'll make it next time.", Top said. "Hey, Daw is here. You guys can talk to each other without a third wheel."

Top laughed but then receive a smack on his back head from Ice. "Yes, yes! I'm sorry. I'm going, okay. Daw, take care of him."

"Okay my friend.", Daw replied.

"Don't be too awkward. Just pretend that this is a reunion between two friends after 4 years. Cheer up!", Top said. After that he left the two there.

Almost five minutes, they didn't talk to each other.

"Er.. How are you?", Daw asked.

"Huh? Oh. Good.", Ice replied.

"So... You can talk now.", Daw said. "I mean. You still mute when you left to USA. Er I didn't meant to.. No. I'm not being sarcastic here. Erm. I just.. I mean..", Daw let out a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry."

Ice chuckled. "It's okay. I understand."

"I like your voice.", Daw said.

Ice smiled. "Thank you. I'm sorry as I can't talk really well yet. I'm still working on it."

"You're doing fine."

"Really? Urm, thanks.", Ice replied.

Four years abroad, Ice didn't just studied there but to also receive a  treatment there. It's not that hard actually for him to be able to talk again because he can hear. He know how the words pronounce correctly with the right pitch easily.

But still, he needs a lot of time and efforts to practice on how to pronounce them because sometimes he still can make the wrong pronouncing as he hasn't talk for almost 7 years. It's same when someone in coma for months or years they couldn't walk so they need to practice walk again. He also have to overcome his trauma first before that. It's not easy after all. 

Ice curved a smile. He caught that Daw was staring at him. After 4 years, he thought he will never met this person again. But sitting here with him makes Ice believe destiny never let them apart.

"So. Are you free tomorrow?", Daw asked.

"Why?"

"I want to take you somewhere tomorrow."

"Erm...", Ice paused.

Should I say, yes?

"Okay, sure!", Ice replied

"Really? Not taking back your words, okay.", Daw said.

"Okay, okay!"

Daw smiled like an idiot. He stared at Ice who looks away, didn't want to have any eye contact with him.

The said day come. Daw picked Ice up at his condo. Ice's eyes widen as he still clearly remember the way to the place where Daw is taking him. Even though 4 years had passed, how could Ice forget this beautiful place. It has been his favorite place since then.

"Wait. I remember this place.", Ice said.

"Really? I remember, I just took you twice here. You definitely have a good memory.", Daw said and smiled to Ice.
Ice looked away and smiled shyly. When Daw stop the car, both of them stepped out and sat at their usual place four years ago. It started to set and it was a good timing. Ice's eyes attached to the view infront of them. He hadn't have this kind of vibe for four years and now he feel lucky, he still can see the beauty of his favorite place.

"You still have the same interest to this place.", Daw said.

"Urm. It's my favorite place since then.", Ice replied without looking at the person besides him.

Daw can't help but to smile. Feels like a dream to sit here again with Ice. After all the things happen between them, he can't believe they can talk and sit next to each other like this.

He stared at Ice. The person's eyes still sparkle while watching the view. The lips still curving the same sweet  smile. And the person...

"Beautiful.", Daw said while staring at Ice.

Ice looked at him. He chuckled while looked in front again. "You mean the view?"

"Yes.", Daw replied. Ice grinned like 'I knew it!'.

"But not as beautiful as you.", Daw continued.

Ice smiled. "I am a man. How can I look beautiful?"

Daw also smiled mocking Ice. "Did anyone ever tell you that when you're in love everything you see are beautiful? Everything are sweet. Colourful and fruitful? Especially the person you love."

Ice was speechless. He laughed awkwardly. "That's cheesy."

"But it's true."

Ice just shook his head. This guy never change. Still flirty like usual.

"I miss you.", Daw confessed. Ice stunned. "Every second, every minutes, every hour and every day.  Months to years. I never forget about you. Never stop missing you. Never stop growing feelings to you. I love---"

Daw stop talking when Ice pressed his lips on his. He blinked a few times when Ice pulled himself back.

"You're talking to much. Just asked me to be your boyfriend already!"

Ice felt shy when Daw kept staring at him. He looked away. Suddenly he regretted for what he just did. He bite his lips

Why did I do that? Stupid Ice!

"Be my boyfriend."

Ice shifted his eyes to the person besides him. Damn! Is that an ask or a command?

"I'm not asking. I'm demanding. Be my boyfriend.", Daw said.

Ice was a bit shocked. What did he studied  when I was not around? Did he studied science political or reading people's mind?

However, Ice smiled shyly and slightly  poked Daw's arm with his elbow. "You know the answer."

Daw didn't wait any longer when he heard Ice's answer. He pulled Ice's nape then kissed him. Ice was shocked with the guy sudden act.

"Remember when I said I'll only kiss you when you're fully mine?", Daw said after he breaks the kiss. Ice just stared him in the eyes. "Now, I'm doing it. You are mine now."

Ice slightly smiled and hugged Daw. "I have been yours since four years ago. I am the one who are too stupid to admit it. Sorry for making you wait that long."

"Don't mention it anymore. We're together now.", Daw replied and cares Ice's head. He gently planted kissed the guy's forehead.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
