CHAPTER SEVEN, date night and drama

The day passed by quickly and before Averi knew it, the last bell was ringing and school was out for the day. She hurried to her locker, eager to meet up with Stiles and spend the rest of the day with him. She grabbed her books and shut the locker door, a smile on her face as she turned and went to Stiles' locker. She surprised him, hugging him from behind and pressing a kiss to his neck.

"Hey, handsome," She said, her voice soft and playful. "Ready to go?"

Stiles chuckles, tilting his head to look at her and giving her a fond smile. "Hi, baby. And yeah, I'm ready. You?" He replied, putting his things away and closing his locker.

"Mhm." Averi nods, pressing another kiss to his neck. "Let's get out of here."

"With pleasure," Stiles replies, taking her hand and lacing their fingers together. "My place or yours?"

Averi shrugs, smiling up at him. "I don't care. As long as I'm with you, that's all that matters." She squeezed his hand, leaning into his warmth.

"My place it is," Stiles replies with a grin. "That way we won't have to worry about your parents or my dad." He teases, sending her a wink. "He's working late tonight and he has a date."

"Really?" She asks with surprise, her eyes widening. She was surprised to hear that. She was happy though, Noah deserved to be happy. "That's great. I hope it goes well."

"Yeah, I was surprised too," Stiles admits. "He recently stopped wearing his ring, so I'm guessing he's serious about whoever it is. I mean, it's a little weird he's getting back out there, but I'm happy for him. I want him to be happy, you know?"

"Of course," Averi agrees, squeezing his hand. "He deserves to be happy. I hope things work out for him. I'm glad you're okay with him dating again. I mean, your mom has been gone a while now."

"Yeah, well, she would want him to be happy too," Stiles replies, his expression softening. "Like I said, it's weird and I still miss her a lot, but I can't expect him to spend the rest of his life alone. I don't want him to, either. I just want him to find someone who makes him happy and treats him right."

Averi smiles warmly at him, thinking of how sweet he is. She knew how hard it must be for him, but it also showed how mature he was and how much he cared for his dad. It was one of the many things she loved about him. "You're a good son," She tells him, resting her head on his shoulder as they walk. "Your dad is lucky to have you."

Stiles' cheeks flush slightly at the praise and he smiles shyly. "I'm lucky to have him too. And you." He adds, looking down at her. "I'm a very lucky guy."

Averi giggles, leaning up and giving him a quick peck on the lips. "Not as lucky as I am." She replies, her eyes sparkling with love and affection. "I love you, sweetheart."

"I love you too, honey." He squeezed her hand and once they got to his jeep, he opened the door for her and helped her in.

The ride to his house was spent in a comfortable silence, the two of them just enjoying each other's presence. Averi snuggled up against him, her head resting on his shoulder as she let her eyes close. She had her arm linked with his that rested on the console between them, his hand intertwined with hers. She felt a wave of contentment and happiness wash over her as they drove, letting the feeling of peace settle deep inside her.

When they arrived at his house, he parked the car and turned off the engine. He then opened the door for her and helped her out, a smile on his face.

"After you, my lady." He dramatically bowed, making her laugh.

"Why, thank you, kind sir." She replied, curtsying and giggling.

They made their way into the house, both of them smiling and laughing. As soon as the door was closed behind them, Averi surprised him by pushing him against the door and pressing her lips to his in a passionate kiss. His eyes widened, a gasp escaping him, but he soon melted into her embrace. His hands found their way into her hair, tangling themselves in the dark strands as he returned the kiss with just as much passion.

Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer as their bodies pressed against each other. The kiss deepened, their tongues dancing together in a heated display of their desire. They stayed like that for a while, lost in each other's embrace and the heat of the moment. When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their eyes shining with love and adoration.

"Wow," Stiles breathes, his lips curving into a grin. "Not that I'm complaining, but what brought that on?" He asked, feeling a bit dazed from the kiss. He wasn't expecting it, but he definitely enjoyed it.

"I just wanted to kiss you." Averi shrugs, her cheeks heating up, fidgeting with the back of his shirt since her arms were around his neck. "Is that a problem?"

"Nope," Stiles replies, popping the 'p.' "Never. Feel free to kiss me anytime you want, baby." He told her, leaning in and giving her a quick kiss.

Averi blushed, her heart racing and butterflies fluttering in her stomach. She leaned in and kissed him again, her eyes fluttering shut as she melted into his embrace. He held her close, his hands moving from her hair to her waist as he returned the kiss with equal enthusiasm. When they pulled apart again, Averi couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, his cheeks flushed and his lips swollen from kissing. He looked as dazed and giddy as she felt.

"You're cute when you're flustered." She said, teasing him and poking his nose while she giggled as she blushed.

Stiles chuckles, shaking his head at her. "Cute? That's all?" He raises an eyebrow at her, his hands moving from her waist to her hips, gently squeezing them. "Not hot? Sexy?" He asked, his voice dropping lower.

"Oh, you're definitely those too," Averi replies, her heart rate picking up at the change in his tone. Her face heats up even more as she tries to formulate a response, feeling her legs go a little weak. "Very sexy." She whispered, her eyes never leaving his.

Stiles grins, pleased by her reaction. "Mm, that's more like it." He leans in, nuzzling her neck and pressing kisses to her soft skin. "I love you." He murmured, his lips trailing along her jawline.

Averi shivers, goosebumps erupting on her skin at his touch. She tilts her head, giving him more access as she leans into him. "I love you too." She replies, her voice breathless and shaky. "Wanna go watch a movie?" She managed to ask, wanting a distraction before things got too heated. They had never actually had sex before, they've only done a few things. And she was a bit nervous, she never had sex before. She wasn't sure if she was ready yet, though the thought had crossed her mind many times when she was with Stiles. She trusted him completely, and she knew he would never pressure her into anything. Still, the butterflies in her stomach fluttered as she asked him to shift the mood a bit.

Stiles pauses his kisses, sensing the change in her tone and the slight nervousness behind her words. He pulls back slightly, his eyes soft and understanding. "A movie sounds perfect." He said with a gentle smile, brushing a strand of hair that had fallen from her face and behind her ear. He gave her a quick peck on the lips before pulling her toward the living room.

Averi smiled, relieved by how effortlessly Stiles read the situation. She loved how patient and caring he was with her. As they settled on the couch together, Stiles grabbed the remote and started scrolling through movie options. She snuggled up against him, resting her head on his chest while his arm draped around her shoulders, pulling her closer. He reached for the remote and turned on the TV, the room filling with the sounds of a movie.

"What do you want to watch?" He asked, leaning in and wrapping his arm around her waist.

Averi shrugs, snuggling closer to him. "Whatever you want is fine with me." She replied, her eyes already starting to close.

"Okay, Avie." He said, his eyes drifting towards the screen as he pressed play after picking a movie to watch on Netflix. Averi sighed, letting her head fall onto his shoulder as she closed her eyes. She was exhausted, the long day finally catching up with her. She felt herself drifting off, her breathing slowing and deepening. She was fighting sleep, not wanting to miss the movie or this cozy moment with Stiles, but her body was giving in to the exhaustion.

Stiles notices and presses a kiss to the top of her head, his thumb rubbing gentle circles on her hip. "It's okay, baby. Go ahead and take a nap. I'll wake you up later." He murmured, his voice soft and soothing. Averi hummed in response, a smile playing on her lips as she relaxed completely. The last thing she remembered was his warmth and the sound of his heartbeat.

Later that evening when she woke up from her nap, she found out Stiles had took a nap too. But soon they got up and left to meet Scott. They had planned to get dinner with him and hang out together. After dinner, they had stopped by the station to wish Noah good luck on his date. He was currently fixing his hair, muttering that he should've gotten a haircut. Averi could tell he was a bundle of nerves and gave him a smile.

"Well, with someone at your age you should be happy you still have hair to cut." Stiles teased, trying to get his dad to loosen up.

"I think you look great." Scott added, giving Noah a reassuring smile.

Noah sends him a thankful smile. "Well, thank you son I should have had."

Averi snickers a little, earning a playful glare from Stiles. He had looked offended after what his dad said. Noah sighs, loosening his tie. "What the h*** am I doing? This is a terrible idea."

Averi frowns. "No, it's not. You're just nervous about it."

"She's right," Stiles agrees, placing his hands on his dad's shoulders. "Dad, it's one date, okay? The town of Beacon Hills won't implode while you're out with one woman." He said reassuringly while he fixed his dad's tie for him. "Or man." He added, sending his dad a look.

"It's a woman, Stiles." Noah responded.

"Okay." Stiles replied with a nod.

"A very beautiful woman." Noah smiled a little at the thought of her.

"Awe," Averi smiles warmly at Noah's expression. "See? It's gonna be fine. Just be yourself, and don't overthink it."

Noah sends her a thankful smile. "Thanks, Averi. I appreciate that."

"What beautiful woman, by the way?" Stiles inquired, raising his eyebrows. Averi was curious too, Noah hadn't mentioned who he was going on a date with.

"None of your business." Noah responds. "Either one of you." He added, his gaze flickering between the trio.

Stiles looks upset, narrowing his eyes at his dad. "I want to know."

"Honestly," Averi cut in, looking at Noah curiously. "Me too. You got me curious." She admitted, crossing her arms.

Suddenly, a loud voice is heard angrily yelling 'Stilinski', gaining the groups attention. The three teens share a look as they follow Noah out of his office. Averi is shocked at what she saw. Donovan was handcuffed, two deputies keeping a strong hold on him. She didn't know Donovan that well, she had seen him around school, of course, but they've never really interacted with each other. She had heard that he often got into trouble, but she hadn't expected this.

"I'm gonna kill you." Donovan spat out, struggling against the officers as he glared at Noah.

"Donovan, if you think that shocks me, remember it was well-documented in your Anger Expression Inventory. Deputies, escort the prisoner out." Noah spoke, his tone calm and collected.

Averi watched with wide eyes, her mind reeling. Donovan had seemed like a nice enough guy, sure, he got into trouble, but this was something else entirely. She had a bad feeling about this and couldn't help but feel worried for Stiles and his dad. She instinctively moved closer to Scott and Stiles, her hand easily finding Stiles', who intertwined their fingers together and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

"I'm not angry like I'm gonna throw a brick through your window. I'm angry, like I'm going to find you, I'm going to get a knife and I'm going to stab you with it until you're dead. And when you look at me and you ask me why, remember right now because this is why."

A tense silence fell over the group after Donovan's outburst, no one knowing what to say. Averi's grip had tightened on Stiles' hand, her gaze glancing at his dad. She was worried, but she didn't want to show it. She glanced at Stiles with an eye roll when he spoke up with a remark. She wasn't surprised. Even in a situation like this, he was still sarcastic and witty.

"Wow, that was awesome. That was awesome. That was great. We do one more? Give us another one, maybe like Christopher Walken this time, you know." Stiles didn't get a response. All he got was a cold hard stare from Donovan. His stare sent shivers down Averi's spine.

"Stiles..." She muttered in warning tone. She was worried about his safety. She didn't trust Donovan, especially not after that outburst. And with Stiles, he often didn't think things through and could sometimes get himself into trouble.

"Okay, you know what? It's fine. You'll have plenty of time to work on it when you're in your tiny, little cell, you know. Just stuck there, forever." Stiles continued to ramble.

Donovan acted as if he was going to walk away, shaking his head. Then suddenly he turned and lunged at the group. Stiles backed up slightly, tugging Averi with him. Scott had jumped in to help, but Noah had stopped him.

"Get him out of here!" Noah demanded and Donovan was immediately pushed out of the room.

Averi felt a huge wave of relief wash over her, thankful that nothing bad happened. She had been worried that something might've, but she was glad that it didn't. She looked over at Scott when he spoke up.

"What the h***'s an Anger Expression Inventory?"

"It's a test you take when you're applying to become a deputy." Stiles explained.

Averi's eyes widen at that revelation and she exchanges a surprised look with Scott. "That guy wanted to be a cop?" Scott asked, the two of them glancing over at Noah for confirmation.

"At least now he's getting the full law enforcement experience." Stiles remarked.

Averi smiled weakly at Stiles' attempt at humor, but her mind was still reeling from the encounter with Donovan. She couldn't shake off the unease that settled in her stomach. Something about Donovan wasn't right. He had looked angry, yes, but there was something else, something darker underneath the anger. She didn't like it. She hoped it was nothing, but she had a feeling that things were only going to get worse.
