Chapter 8

You woke up when the birds chirped and the sun peeked above the horizon, shining though the half closed curtains. You opened one eye to see if you sexy fiance was still next to you, you were lucky.

His chest rose and fell tranquil. He was still asleep. You popped yourself up on your elbows, careful to not make any sounds that could possibly wake him up. Your eyes met with the large clock on the opposite wall of were the bed was and you smirked.

It was ten o'clock.

it looked like the King had forgotten to set his alarm for the day. He was having a five hour delay, if you had to believe his previous statements, which your highly doubted. The bedsheets slid off your naked body as you crawled less elegantly out of the bed.

Then went to the bathroom to put on some clothes before you returned to the yet sleeping King of Asgard. You smirked and walked to the door, leaving the room and picking up your pace as you left thee corridor.

You were running to the left, then right, a few meters straight ahead - until you reached the kitchens. Much to your surprise, no one was there. Maybe everyone already had their breakfast, but with that you didn't have in issue.  It gave you the time to make pancakes - let's pretent you didn't drop a bag of flour and made the floor look like a snow carpet.

By the time you went back to your room - with a tray of pancake enough to feed the whole Kingdom and more orange juice you needed - you saw that Loki was still sleeping. That liar. Up at five, huh? You rolled your eyes while biting your lip as you put the tray on his nightstand. You studied his chisled face before you crawled on top of him until your weight was fully on top of his. He breathed in firlmy, but remained alseep. Smiling, you traced his jawline with your index finger, then over his thin lips.

'Loki,' you whispered. He didn't react in the slightest. You knitted your eyebrows together. 'Loki?' you repeated, this time a little louder. You smiled when the corner of his mouth twitched.

You poked his cheek with your finger.

'Loki, wake up,' you muttered. Another poke, but nothing. 'Loki, oh dear, are you dead?' You poked him a little harder until he opened his eyes.

'Wha- Hi,' he said with a raspy moring voice that made your insides melt. Your mouth curved up in a smile.

'Good morning,' you sang as you went to kiss the tip of his nose. He put his hands on your waist and smiled.

'What is it that smells so good?' he almost moaned. You grinned.

'I made you breakfast.'

'Oh?'

'Yep. I hope you like pancakes.' He raised an eyebrow.

'What are pancakes?' he wondered aloud. Your mouth fell agape.

'You're kidding, right?' you questioned. He shook his head. 'Oh my God!' You freed yourself from his grasp and grabbed the tray only to place it on his lap. 'Try it.' You handed him the fork, which he took hesitantly. You picked a strawberry from the bowl beside the pile of pancakes and put it in your mouth.

'Shouldn't I get dressed first? After all, I am still wearing nothi-'

'No,' you cut him off. A smug smirk crept  his way up his face and damn you loved that smirk. 'I quite enjoy you like this.'

'Alright. I'll keep that in mind,' he teased.

'You better keep it in mind, or I'll remind you,' you said bravely. He gawked at you for awhile.

'I like this side of yours,' he chuckled before putting some  pancake in his mouth and chewing on it. His eyes closed briefly. 'And this is delicious.'

'It's my moms recipe,' you told him. With the words came a large pang of sorrow. Mentioning your mother, suddenly made you homesick and someone noticed. You were staring blankly at the pillow behind Loki's head. Gosh, your parents must be so worried. If you only had your phone with you...

'Hey, Y/N, it's fine,' he soothed as he took your hand.

'I just miss them,' you said with a sad smile.

'I know... Uhm...' He clearly wanted to say something, but he seemed to hesitate. He searched your eyes before he found the courage to tell you. 'This... compromise... doesn't mean your never going to see them again. I plan on taking you back to earth some day. After all this fuss is over...' You eyes widened. Your heart beated faster, almost leaping out of your chest.

'So, let me get this straight, just making sure were on the same page... After you married me and pumped a baby in me, you're just going to dump me back on earth?' You almost screamed the last part. He shook his head.

'No, not in that way,' he told you with a squeeze on your hand 'More like a honeymoon. You know... and to notify your parents about this... situation...' You let out a breath of relief as you looked at your lap.

'I- I'm sorry,' you mumbled embarressed. He smiled and ate his pancake.

'Don't worry. Eat some pancake, I'll never get them all inside my stomach and you need to be strong for your appointment.'

'Appointment?' you asked.

'We are going to see a nurse that will run a few test to see if you are pregnant. Have you already forgotten? I think that might be a good sign?'

'Well, of course I didn't forgot?' you defended your poor, absent mind. 'Not after you reminded me,' you added quietly, but he heard.

Loki and you were sitting in a small room with a blonde nurse, although her hair had a more yellowish shade. But for the rest, she was quite beautiful with her long lashes and green eyes. She wore a navy blue dress and had greeted the two of you with enthusiasm.

You were currently sitting on some kind of steel bed that made you shiver from the coldness it radiated.

'So... tell me my King. What can I do for you?' she asked with a friendly voice. Loki sat down on a more comfortable  looking chair next to the bed you were placed in.

'Well, I'm here for her,' he said. The nurse looked at you. 'We need to if she's pregnant, and with the current situation, I figure you know why.' She nodded and walked towards you.

'She is... She is Midgardian?' the nurse blurted out. 'I didn't know you would-' she stopped talking as Loki raised an annoyed eyebrow. 'Anyway, I will check it in an instant.'

'Thank you, Lady,' Loki said politely.

'Please, just call me Elisabeth,' she smiled at him. He only nodded and held your hand. You squeezed it and inhaled sharply.

'What are we-'

'Lay down,' she cut you off. You nodded and did as she told. Then you stomach churned as she gave you a treacherous smile. You bit you lip and looked at Loki to see if he had spotted it, but unfortunately, he didn't. Your liking toward Elisabeth had vanished in a blink of an eye and you tugged at Loki's sleeve.

'What's wrong?'

'Is there another nurse? Please?' you squeaked silently for her not to hear you. He looked around, then cleared his throat.

'Why do you need another nurse?' he whispered back with a frown plastered on his forehead.

'I have a bad feeling about her,' you muttered. He nodded.

'Where are the other nurses?' Loki questioned Elisabeth. She smiled widely.

'They are having a break.'

'Wasn't Peppa supposed to check her?' Loki wondered.

'Peppa is a nurse too?' Loki looked at you.

'Yes, of course she is. Didn't see tell you?' You shook your head.

'No, she doesn't really talk about herself that much... Why is Peppa not available?' You looked at Elisabeth while biting your lip.

'She had important business to attend,' the nurse said with a hint of a snarl. 'But, don't worry. I'll take care of you.' It almost sounded threatening and it made Loki frown too.

'Maybe we should come back later,' he insisted.

'No, no, Loki,' she interrupted. What? She gets to call him Loki? Why was he not telling her to call him King?

'Very well. Get started then, Elisabeth,' Loki said. His jaw clenched and you wondered what the hell was going on between these two. It was as if they were having a whole conversation while you were muted.

'Good.' Elisabeth turned her back to you and prepared hersef for the checkup. When she walked back toward you, she held a syringe. She grabbed your arm, but Loki yanked it out of her grasp.

'Your not going to inject anything into her. I asked for Peppa. I will only pay you to tell me if she's pregnant or not,' Loki hissed. You gulped.

'What are you-'

'Relax,' Elisabeth snarled harsly at you, looking Loki dead in the eye. 'I'm a healer. I will tell you with only my touch if you're pregnant or not.'

Well, you tought. That sounded oh so promising.

'That's not how it works on earth. We use-'

'We're not on Midgard.'

Loki stroked the back of your hand and smiled reassuringly at you.

'It's fine, Y/N, she knows how this works.' There wasn't a hint of hesitance in his voice and that soothed you a little. She pushed your shirt up and put her hands on your tummy. She poked, squeezed you painfully and stabbed you with her long fingernails.

'Aw!'

'Oh dear,' she mumbled to herself. She bit her lip and looked at Loki.

'What?' Loki asked her with annoyance.

'You're not going to like this news, my King,' she said mockingly. Loki sighed and licked his dry lips.

'What?' he asked again.

'It appeared that she is infertile,' she said with mirth. You huffed and pulled your shirt back over your tummy.

'And you know that by just poking my stomach? Well, pity for you, but my mother had me tested! I am not infertile!' Loki placed a hand on your shoulder and held you pinned to the bed.

'Are you being serious?' Loki asked. He even seemed to believe her! He visibly turned worried and face went even more pale than it usually was.

'I am.'

'Then why the fuck are you smiling?' you growled. She laughed.

'Because now the King will have to find himself another woman to sleep with. What's wrong, Lokes?' Lokes? Where did that came from? Did they know each other? Was this some evil woman who wanted the throne? At this moment you mind couldn't catch up with your thoughts. 'Maybe he should consider coming to me,' she said in a flirtatious tone. Your blood boiled and you had to restrain yourself for not grab her by the throat.

That was it. Loki pulled you off the bed and dragged you back to his room, closing every door of the palace shut with enough force to cause an earthquake.
