I Want A Family Too...

On a dark a stormy night Rainbow Dash sat on her couch reading to Scootaloo the fourth Daring Do book. Scootaloo enjoyed hearing how Daring flew through the traps AweeZodo set in the cave of the greedy pony thieves. When the story was coming to a close Scootaloo noticed a picture of Rainbow Dash as a filly standing on the back of a strong looking colt with the same rainbow colored hair, only shorter. She remembered how Rainbow Dash told her how her father would take her to the Equestria Games and hope they would play in Ponyville.

Scootaloo thought for a minute and realized she had no parents to speak of. Scootaloo's eyes began to fill with tears and Rainbow Dash immediately knew something was wrong.

"Hey, squirt," Rainbow Dash began, "why the long face?"

"It's just... I just wish I had a cool parents to talk about too," Scootaloo answered. "Like you; and just yesterday Sweetie Belle told me her parents were going to the Crystal Empire."

"Parents?" Rainbow Dash thought, "Scoots, you don't need parents to be happy, all you need are ponies who love you, nothing more."

"But, if I had parents, maybe I could discover what my Cutie Mark was," Scootaloo explained allowing the tears to fall from her face. "You got your Cutie Mark because your dad was such a great athlete too. Applejack got hers because Granny Smith owns an apple farm. Maybe if I knew what my parents are good at maybe I could do that thing too."

"Scootaloo, you won't get your Cutie Mark from your parents, you'll get it in good time," Rainbow Dash reassured. "Besides you're not the only one who doesn't have parents, there a lot of ponies who live with their grandparents, there aunts and uncle, some ponies don't even have a house. Fluttershy doesn't have parents and she's doing just fine, she got her Cutie Mark without any parents to speak of."

"But, who's supposed to raise me night and day and teach me about colts when I grow up?" Scootaloo sobbed as the tears ran down her face.

"Oh, come on why do you think I took you under my wing in the first place?" Rainbow Dash asked dragging Scootaloo over by her side with her wing and whipped the tears off of Scootaloo's eyes with her hoof. "I'll be sure to teach you all that when you're older, don't worry, Applejack is going to do the same with Applebloom too so don't worry you're not the only one with no parents."

"You... You promise?" Scootaloo sniffed.

"I'm promise, just remember don't go jumping off any cliffs in the middle of the night." Rainbow Dash smiled.

Scootaloo laughed happily as the tears stopped falling down her face. "Hee, hee, deal..."

And as the storm went on outside Rainbow Dash read on with Daring Do and Scootaloo read along with awe.

The end
