PROLOGUE

Saying goodbye. goodbyes are a dreaded thing. Goodbyes contain the sadness of a hundred souls, even if they're the first step toward a new world of adventure and happiness. yet in the Lewis twins case goodbyes only encapsulated misery. Goodbyes only buried them further into a ditch of grief, Grief for their mother. Goodbyes led them to isolation, which is where they were heading. a new town. without their friends, without the people they considered to be family. and saying their goodbyes to that family hurt them more than they thought possible:

"Stiles we're gonna come and visit" Violet nodded as she offered the freckled boy a soft smile. Violet's eyes traced over his face for what felt like the last time. She was leaving, and after what felt like a lifetime of denying it, it was finally time to accept she wasn't going to see him for a while, time for Violet and Matteo to start saying their goodbyes to their best friends, Their pack.

Sarah Lewis, 46, mother of two, has now been missing for two months and the search has finally come to a standstill following new evidence. That's what the news was broadcasting, That's what rang in Violet's mind as she stared at the group of people around her. a group of people who'd helped her through the agonising pain that came with losing a loved one.

But the news was wrong. Violet knew what had happened to her mother, and the sickening grief and guilt encapsulated her. drowned her in the sea of memories of her mother. She didn't want to leave the place where happy memories resided, but she knew, to move on she needed a fresh start. a human start. if that was even possible.

Stiles' face contorted with sadness as he pulled Violet into his arms without a second thought, his heart convulsing as he said his goodbyes to his best friend. His arms wrapped around her as he attempted to mentally prepare for her absence.

"More emotional than me Stilinski and I'm saying goodbye to my girlfriend" Matteo laughed trying to lighten the mood. He didn't want it to be a goodbye, he couldn't handle a goodbye. it was only a see you later. His arms wrapped around the familiar Ginger, Lydia Martin. Violet's eyes flickered to her brother sending him a glare as she broke the hug with Stiles. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth as she held back the tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks.

"Shut it, Matt." Violet scolded shaking her head, A weak smile tugging at her lips fighting her own emotions, she knew she couldn't hug Stiles for too long, his touch made it even harder to fight the tears. she looked back to the freckled boy, forcing a smile; "I'll miss you. But we'll be back to visit in a few months"

"Better be" Scott piped up with a soft smile, Two members of their group, their pack, leaving. the group stood in front of the Lewis house, Sad smiles coming in waves as Violet's eyes darted to Scott the boy she'd come to admire finally showing the worry of his friend's absence.

"we will Scott" She hummed as Scott approached the girl who'd become one of his closest friends. The grief that lingered over Violet and Matteo hadn't eased, Yet when they were with their friends the pain became manageable, people who ease the pain of your past were surely your future, that was true, but not in this case. The twins were leaving the people who made the grief manageable, They had to go through the whole process of making friends again. But this time with a cloud of pain hanging over them.

"you two need anything or get in any trouble you call, okay?" Scott smiled reassuringly needing to know they'd be okay. making sure they knew just because they were leaving didn't mean they were lost or alone, Violet nodded her glossy eyes meeting Scotts as her brother stepped away from Lydia. Matteo extended his hand toward Scott as a sign of respect.

Scott nodded as he shook Matteo's hand, Both their eyes flashing a golden yellow. A mutual appreciation between the two late teens, showing their respect and thanks for each other as Violet turned to Allison Argent.

"Vi, are you sure you have to leave?" Allison asked, her voice laced with a sense of longing as she approached Violet, whose expression dulled at the question before she shrugged haphazardly.

"I'm sorry" Violet sighed, As if her mother's death wasn't painful enough she was being dragged halfway across the country. but she had to believe it was for the better, believe that everything happened for a reason.

"don't be. I just- wanted to give you this" Allison searched through her pocket before pulling out a small necklace, the Argent Hunter necklace. The pendant Engraved with a wolf. Violet's eyes widened as she looked down at the necklace in confusion.

"Allison- I can't accept this. It's your family necklace" Violet shook her head only for Allison to copy her actions before taking Violet's hand and putting the necklace in her friend's palm, before closing her hand around Violet's.

"Yes, you can... When I got this necklace, it was given to me as a hunter. But now I'm part of something so much more important. I want you to remember that importance, and remember us"  Allison's eyes flickering around the group, a sad frown forming upon Violet's face as her chest constricted.

"god I'm gonna miss you guys" Violet chuckled almost trying to lighten the mood before she pulled Allison in for a hug which the girl quickly reciprocated. A tear slid down Violet's cheek as she clung to Allison's leather jacket.

"We've gotta finish packing, But we'll stay in contact." Matteo broke up the goodbyes as Violet pulled away from Allison wiping her cheek. Her brother's words rang in her ears as the fact she was leaving Beacons Hills was finally becoming a reality. a terrifying one at that.

"Scott you better send us photos of the tattoo you're Getting tomorrow" Violet reminded trying to remain lighthearted on the topic of leaving, despite how much it made her heart ache with despair.

The city of Forks welcomes you. Read the sign Violet and Matteo had just passed while sitting in the back of their Father's SUV. The Fork's weather was almost the complete opposite of what the siblings were used to in California. The dullness in their hearts only grew as the weather copied their emotions.

Violet's headphones wedged into her ears playing Leaving Tonight by the Neighbourhood as loud as the earbuds would allow in an attempt at drowning out the thoughts that swirled in her mind... the music easing the anxiety-fueled nausea that consumed her stomach.

Her head leant against the window of the SUV as she contemplated how her life had changed so drastically, Memories of her mother flashed in her mind as she let a tear slip down her cheek before reaching for the bag by her feet almost instantly.

Matteo was lost in his own world messaging his girlfriend Lydia Martin as Violet pulled out a journal and Pen from her bag, Taking a breath she lost herself in the music before opening the book, as her pen met the paper she was free...

We are moving to forks.
Leaving Beacon Hills. I never thought I'd say those words. I somehow thought I'd stay in Beacon Hills with my brother, stay with Scott, stiles and the rest of my friends. But now Mom's gone, Mom's gone and it was my fault.

Dad doesn't know that, But Matteo does. I don't know how he doesn't Blame me. but he should. This is a type of agony I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get rid of. It haunts me every second of the day, No matter who I'm with or what I'm doing. The pain in my chest wakes me up every night without fail. And there's nothing I can do to stop it.

Forks means a fresh start, That has to be a good thing right? a fresh start means freedom and endless opportunities. Yet we still have to hide Matteo's secret, And this time without Scott. Without stiles.
I can't do this, I don't want to do this.

"Violet we're here" The deep voice of Violet's father intercepted the music blasting in her ears making her look up with narrow eyes automatically slamming shut the journal in her lap. This was it. The start.

Nodding Violet looked over at her brother before Shoving the journal back into her bag. Getting out of the car, she followed her brother and Father into a house that wasn't the one her father had shown in photos. It was a house that triggered memories from her childhood. The swan residence.

Upon Entering the house, an instant smile rose on Violet's face as she saw her uncle. Maybe Forks was a good thing, Closer to Family. Charlie offered the siblings a cheerful smile before approaching Violet with open arms.

"Uncle Charlie!" She exclaimed forcing an even wider smile onto her face as she accepted his hug. Yet from the corner of her eye, she saw Matteo's body Seize. The young boy's nose twitched as he glanced around the room almost looking for something, Or someone.
