CHAPTER THREE: BIRTHDAY

"Another missing hiker Brings the total to 3 Presumed dead, Authorities are looking for the killer animal-"

"What the fuc-" Violet cut off the radio her eyebrows knitted together as she looked up at her brother whose eyes remained focused on the road ahead.

"Maybe this town is as weird as Beacon hills" violet sighed Leaning back in the seat of their Car as They drove to school for the second day in a row, Or as the twins labelled it as soon as they left 'hell'

"i did tell you" Matteo shook his head pulling into the carpark of the school once again, His eyes falling on Bella's Truck as they drove over to it pulling into the space beside it Matteo added; "this is gonna be a long year"

Sighing Violet and Matteo got out the car only to hear a conversation they wished they could forget; "where here at thou Bella" Mike teased hand stuck out toward bella making the Lewis Twins cringe.

"Hey Bells" Violet smiled coming up behind her cousin her hands falling on her shoulders, Bella smiled looking back at her Cousin placing a hand over violets that laid on her shoulder before turning her attention back to her friends.

"Can i take a picture of you guys? my mom wants me to make a scrap book full of memories" Bella smiled, Her friends huddling together as Violet and Matteo stood behind their cousin.

"you guys too" Bella ordered, The twins behind her hesitantly forcing themselves into the photo, Smiles plastered across their face as the huddled up with Bella's friends who laughed and made jokes that made the Twins Cringe.

A soft smile tugged at Bella's lips as she held up a camera, angling it into a position where all her friends and her two cousins fit into the frame before capturing the moment with a click. A happy moment, A moment she could look back on, and remember how perfect life was.

Matteo and Violet smiled as the group dispersed after the moment had been captured, Bellas friends returning to what they'd been doing as The twins approached Bella. Violets hand securing her bag against her shoulder as the smile on her face grew.

"Happy birthday Bella" Violet smiled her fingers brushing against the necklace the hung around her Neck, Alison's necklace. Bella chuckled softly as she looked down avoiding her cousins eye-contact.

"don't make a big deal out of it, But thank you vi" Bella offered her cousin a soft smile as the girls enveloped each other within a hug. Despite Bellas feelings on her birthday, There was one thing she was thankful for. The fact her cousins were back.

"Happy birthday Izzy" Matteo chuckled rubbing his cousins back, Bella's expression dulling as he used the nickname she'd forbidden anyone from using, Her reaction only fuelled the deep chuckle within his chest.

The screeching sound of tires invaded Matteo's eardrums as burnt rubber made his nostrils flare just seconds before that Icy smell flooded his senses. The same smell that'd infected him when he'd been in Bella's house, His head jerked in the direction of the noise.

Edward Cullen. Bella's smile grew wider as she watched Edward exit his Car. making his way across the carpark Matteo's fists tightened as he forced his emotions deep within his body, Fighting against the claws that threatened to burst from his nail beds. his mind repeating the same two techniques; three things that cannot long be hidden, The sun, The moon, The truth.

And his anchor, Lydia Martin.

Matteo had control, He'd had control of himself for a long time. But that smell. Edward Cullen triggered an anger somewhere deep within the dark untouched corners of Matteo's soul.

"Happy Birthday" Were Edwards first words as he approached Bella and the twins, Almost ignoring Matteo's existence. Violets eyes flickered to her Brother, And within a second she knew. Her wide eyes Glued to his hand, The tiny droplet of blood spilling from his fist caught her attention Almost immediately.

"don't remind me" Bella looked up at the pale man before her as if he was the only one surrounding her, As if he was the only one who mattered. A surge of annoyance rushing through violet as she cleared her throat.

"Sorry Bells, Stiles is calling me" Violet Glanced down at her blank phone screen almost immediately Ushering Matteo out of ear shot of the couple. Unbeknownst to the twins, Edward's golden eyes followed their every step.

"what's wrong with you?!" Violet exclaimed her voice barely auditable to anyone around as she tried to keep the secret they'd fought so hard to perfect. Matteo shook his head, as if trying to shake thoughts from his mind. His eyes glossed over with what could only be described as unwanted anger.

"Somethings not right" The Boy Huffed through gritted teeth, He'd lost control before. He'd been angry before. But nothing had ever made him feel so helpless... His predatory nature sprung to him in only seconds after Edward's vile smell hit his nostrils.

"Matteo you need to calm down. Call Lydia." Violet suggested staring down at her brothers clenched fist. He was Calm enough. Lydia's presence in his mind was strong enough to calm him or at least to calm him for a while.

"I'm Calm." The muscle in his Jaw twitched as he ground his teeth together. Forcing himself to take a deep breath as his eyes darted back over to Bella. The waves of dread in his stomach calming as He focused his hearing, Edwards Voice; "I'll meet you inside."

"Who's that?" Matteo's gruff voice echoed through Violets ears as she turned to see Another boy, silky Dark hair longer than her own, Russet skin. His deep-Set twinkling Brown eyes glued to Bella as he approached her. Violets Eyes lingered on the Boy as he spoke to her cousin. Almost finding it difficult to tear her eyes away from his dark good looks.

"Are you good tae?" Violet shot her brother a warning Glance which he almost instantly understood the meaning of as he nodded. The flashes of Lydia in his mind having Calmed him enough to try again. Violet nodded as she approached her cousin and the boy with gorgeous dark hair.

"Bella didn't introduce me to biceps here" Violet chuckled as she approached her cousin and the boy who stood before her upon noticing his almost abnormally defined muscles that incased his arms. Matteo Cringed at his sisters introduction, Yet her phrasing meant more than what met the Eye. If Matteo was right, If something was weird about Forks. They needed to investigate, She needed to go full Stiles Stilinski .

"Oh- Uh- Right. Jacob these are my cousins, Violet and Matteo." Bella chuckled looking back toward her cousins as she introduced them before she continued; "I was just telling Jacob steroids are bad for him"

"Yeah man, Natural's the way to go" Matteo Chuckled trying to laugh off the awkward tension he'd just faced between his anger and his sisters Cringe comment. Jacob only chuckled softly his eyes Flickering to Violet as he took in her appearance.

"it's natural, i'm just filling out. It wouldn't seem so drastic" Jacob paused as his eyes wandered back to Bella before he continued; "if we hung out more."

"You should switch schools, Come hang out with the pale faces" Bella suggested as she looked up at Jacob. her comment causing Matteo to raise a brow yet as he focused on the pairs heart beat all seemed normal giving no reason for concern.

"i'm alright, I prefer the rez schools Exclusivity" Jacob smiled his eyes falling Back down toward Violet catching her as her eyes lightly traced the curves of his arms.

"They'll let any old riff-raff into this place" Jacob chuckled his eyes Lingering on violet as she tore her eyes away from his toned arms, Matteo shook his head as he looked at Jacob.

"Nice to meet you, But we've gotta get to Class." Matteo nodded as he patted his sisters shoulder in hopes of Getting her away from another unfamiliar face.

"Yeah- You too" Jacob smiled his glance remaining on Violet as she and Matteo walked away. Matteo's eyes met his sisters as he shook his head and thought, This town's full of freaks.

A muffled chuckle erupted from Edward as the twins walked past him. The sound making Matteos head jerk toward the pale man fighting the urge to flash his glowing eyes as he stared Edward down with a look that almost resembled pure disgust.

"Your cousin? She just move here?" Jacobs voice invaded Matteos ears as he walked away, His focus remained on Bella and Jacobs conversation.

"They did yeah" Bella answered Jacobs query, Matteo's Clenched fist grew stronger as he glanced down at his sister. The dread in his stomach Growing, Churning the contents of his stomach as if he was on a rollercoaster.

"I'm Calling scott tonight." Matteo scoffed as He and Violet walked up the steps leading to the high-school, Violet shaking her head at her brothers antics as she glanced back to the long haired man she'd seen with Bella
