Chapter 2 - The Cave

The feeling of movement in his lap is what finally stirred Inuyasha. Jumping slightly all the memories rushed back to Inuyasha. The decrepit state of the man in his lap immediately took his full attention.

Tears ran down the still unconscious face of Koga. Even knocked out the wolf mourned for his lost mate and pups. What led them to be killed in such a despicable way would never come to Inuyasha. What would was the inflamed state of Koga's wounds.

Inuyasha would have to leave him to search for herbs and water to clean his wounds. It was too risky to move him in this state. Though Inuyasha hated the idea this cave would be their home until the wolf was at least awake and healed enough to travel.

Carefully laying the wolf on the ground Inuyasha stripped himself of the top of the robe of the fire rat. The fire had long since burned out and Koga would be cold without his body heat. Carefully Inuyasha wrapped the wolf in his robe and ventured outside of the cave.

It was still snowing but very lightly, the snow had settled and it was quite beautiful besides the slight hints of blood in the snow. Searching by his nose Inuyasha found a small stream. He needed something to carry the water in and sadly all he had was his own mouth.

Taking a deep breath and letting it out Inuyasha plunged his face into the water and took in as much water as he could. Trudging back through the snowy terrain he eventually made it to his well their cave. Crouching down in front of the prince Inuyasha sighed.

This wasn't gonna feel good or be fun for either of them he decided. Leaning down Inuyasha carefully unwrapped Koga and threw the garment aside. He counted in his head 3...2...1... and with that he spit the water straight into Kogas wound on his chest. The strong sprits cleaned out the wound but got Inuyasha punched across the cave.

Panting came to Inuyasha ears as he picked himself up from the floor. Looking back he noticed weak blue eyes staring up at him. Confusion and hurt then terror filled those beautiful blue orbs. Koga tried desperately to get up but his left leg gave way under him.

"Hey hey hey!" Inuyasha shouted as he caught the wolf prince in his arms. Blood dripped into Inuyashas hands from the wound on Koga's chest. He sighed and pulled the wolf prince close to his chest.

"T-their...t-they...."

"I-I know....shhhh there's nothing we can do...." He whispered back a brokenness in his voice.

Koga erupted into tears and all Inuyasha could do was hold him closer. Nothing could heal the loss of ones family. Inuyasha knew that for sure. First it had been his father, then his mother and then Kikyo and finally Kagome. He still had some contact with Sango, Miroku and Shippo but it was seldom.

Inuyasha nuzzled himself into the wolfs hair. He started doing it at first without noticing but after Koga seemed to calm he nuzzled deeper. Letting his scent fill the cave Inuyasha hoped to calm the wolf.

He didn't remember when the last time was he's felt comfortable enough to let himself show his true colors. Inuyasha had a secret. It was the reason Kagome had left. Inuyasha had told her he was an omega and they had agreed two omegas would not work. It had been an agreed thing but it still broke his heart ten fold. Still if his omega side brought Koga some closure he would tolerate the memories for now.

Suddenly he felt the much larger demon pull away from him. The latter fell to the floor as blood dripped from his wound. Koga's eye were filled with shock and lust.

Inuyasha suddenly realized the heat in the small cave opening. Koga having enough strength in his state to even pull away without marking the young omega showed his pure strength and bond with his now dead mate.

"You....You're an-"

"-Omega, yeah I know mangy wolf."

Inuyasha sighed as he rubbed his neck. Inadvertently seeing Koga so lust filled had caused the omegas hormones to surge as well. It's not that he wanted to wolf well more like he needed him. Inuyasha shook this thought off and grabbed his robe top.

He propped Koga up leaning against his chest and wrapped the robe around his shoulders. It had been merely seconds but Inuyasha knew Koga could now smell his arousal. Face flushed Inuyasha laid Koga back down and went to get up. A heavy hand wrapping around his ankle stopped him from getting far.

"Koga your not thinking straight-"

"Take me to my mate."

Okay so maybe Koga was thinking straight. Still the trek back up that half of the mountain was dangerous and neither of them could make it again without some food and water. Inuyasha shook his head. He hated to refuse the ailing wolf but he had no other choice.

"Their buried in snow we'd never find them, and neither of us would make the journey, you know that." Inuyasha said his eyes reflecting his pity over the wolf.

Koga could see his pity and he knew that. He only hoped the wolf would understand why he pitied him and not start bickering.

Koga understood clearly that they couldn't make the trek back up the mountain but part of him still was holding out hope for his family to be alive. He knew they weren't he had seen them murdered before his very eyes. Still he couldn't let go.

Sighing Koga closed his eyes hoping some sleep would help rid him of the horrid memories of his family being slaughtered.
