HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

A/N: None of this is canon and it doesn't affect this story at all!!

~Virgil's PoV~

It was Halloween, which means me, Patton, and Logan were all going to Roman's to watch some Halloween movie in onesies and eating candy that we should be giving to trick or treaters. I wasn't exactly looking forward to it.

Now don't get me wrong! I love comfortable clothes, and candy, and Haloween movies, and Halloween in general but... Roman was going to be there.... and I had recently discovered I had a crush on him.

I didn't wanna look stupid in front of him!

My phone rang and I answered without looking at the caller ID, a habit, mind you, I should really fix.

"Hello?"

"Hey Virgil!" the cheery voice of Patton sang. I smiled.

"Hey Pat,"

"Logan and I are gonna be there to pick you up in about two minutes, so if you could wait outside that would be great!"

I nodded, then realized he couldn't see me "S-Sure Pat,"

"Okay, see you then! Bye kiddo!"

Then he hung up the phone. I sighed and grabbed the bag of candy I had bought-we all had to contribute at least a little bit- and walked out of the apartment, waiting by the curb.

Soon enough, Logan's car pulled up and I got in, saying a hello to Logan and Patton.

I recognized the landmarks and certain businesses and plants on the way to Roman's house, for some reason I was more nervous than I usually was going to his house. Maybe it's cause someone else other than me is driving, so I can't exactly turn back whenever...

We finally pulled up in front of Roman's apartment complex. I took a deep breath and stepped out. I followed Logan and Patton inside.

Patton had the keys to Roman's apartment but still rang the doorbell, probably to notify him that we're here. Pat didn't wait for Roman to answer and unlocked the door, dragging Logan and me up the stairs. Patton knocked on Roman's door though.

Roman opened the door almost immediately with a grin.

"Hey guys! Come in! Come in!" he greeted, stepping aside. We all walked inside, I immediately sat in the corner of the couch, Logan and Patton sat on the loveseat together. Roman turned on 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' he knows that's my favorite, and turned off the lights, the windows already conveniently covered with the purple spider-patterned curtains. There was popcorn on the table, along with Doritos, and 7-11 Mountain Dew slushies.

I expected Roman sit down on the other end of the couch.

He decided that not only laying down and covering the entire couch would be better, but resting his head in my lap would be too. I didn't even try to pretend like it was a normal thing. So I lifted his head off of my lap.

He pouted and stubbornly put his head back in my lap, to which I took it off, and this went on until the second musical number when I just gave up and let him have what he wanted.

He's just affectionate and needs attention and physical contact. He wouldn't like you that way or mean this that way, not ever.

I know...

So I sat back and enjoyed the movie, almost forgetting Roman's head was on my lap. When 'What's This?' came on, I was reminded of Roman when he started singing. I lightly slapped his cheek to shut him up. He glared at me, I paid no attention, shifting it back to where it was supposed to be, the movie.

The movie was over and now we were just talking. Roman refused to move away from me, I literally pushed him off the couch and he came back up and held me tight.

I rolled my eyes, it was just Roman being Roman, he didn't like me, there's no way he could!

On a different note, we were eating candy that was supposed to be passed out to trick-or-treaters and listening to some spoopy music. It was chill, despite the fact that Roman was latched onto me like a Koala. That made me nervous.

"Let's play Truth or Dare!" Patton suddenly exclaimed.

"I'll go first, Roman, Truth or Dare?" I volunteered, asking the question right away.

"Dare," Roman grinned, I knew he would say that.

I smirked, "I dare you to let go of me,"

Roman frowned but reluctantly let go of me, pouting and crossing his arms like a child. I smirked victoriously and we continued with the game, Roman being super salty. It was hilarious.

"Patton, Truth or Dare?"

"Truth!"

"What's your favorite breed of dog?"

"Golden Retreiver!" Patton grinned.

"Mine's is a German Shephard," Roman and I said at the same time, surprising each other. "Why's it your favorite dog?" we asked each other at the same time once more.

Roman explained first, "Small dogs are annoying and loud, big dogs are quieter and have more stamina, which means more play time! Plus German Shepherds are smart and manipulative little shits, they know how to get what they want!"

I explained next, "Little dogs are terrifying and yap too much, same thing there, but big dogs are also more fun to cuddle and I just feel safer. German Shepherds are gorgeous too,"

Roman nodded thoughtfully, then we continued playing the game.

"Logie! Truth or dare!"

"I pick truth,"

"Hm... okay, how about... What's one thing you're insecure about?"

Everyone went quiet, this was a serious question.

"... Well... I'm insecure about a lot of things Pat... I-I'd rather not talk about them," he responded. Patton nodded.

"Okay Logan, I'm sorry,"

"It's Okay Pat, I forgive you," he said, giving Patton a kiss on the head.

The game moved on.

"Virgil, truth or dare?" Roman asked.

"Dare," I responded without thinking.

Roman grinned, "I dare you to lift the first dare you gave me," (oh yea!!! I dared him to do the chubby bunny challenge, it was hilarious!)

I scowled and nodded, Roman whooped with glee and reattached himself firmly to me.

He didn't accept anymore dares after that, not even from Patton or Logan.

It was almost midnight, and the gang decided it would be the best time to go to sleep. After everyone had gotten situated and asleep. I sneaked out of the apartment and onto the rooftop.

The city was beautiful, the houses and streets were all decorated with pumpkins and spiders, casting an orange and black glow on everything. There were little cars so less pollution and noise. It was quite calming. The moon was bright and yellow, though I could see no stars, which made me sad and reminiscent of the Florida where I grew up, where I was able to watch the stars on the beach every night with Roman, Patton, and Logan.

I remember sneaking out of the house at 9 to go meet them out at the beach. I remember the salty ocean at my toes and the sand on my but as we all sat down on the shoreline and watched the sky.

We were barely 6 when we first snuck out. We had been planning it for weeks. I remember the adrenalin and the struggle of getting myself out of the house sneakily. This was before mom and dad started fighting before they decided to split. Before dad left and left my mom and I. Before everything happened.

Those were simple times, where the only thing I had to worry about was being caught sneaking out.

But even during and after all of my family shit, we snuck out every Friday and talked about life and looked out at the sea, sharing dreams of exploration and adventures we would one day make. I remember Roman talking about leaving for Paris to find true love, to which we all laughed at saying "There is no such thing as love!" that was during middle school. During high school, we talked about the colleges we were planning on going to, and we all came out to each other under that moon and stars, we came out to each other on October 19, the air was still a bit warm I remember. It was a relief, knowing none of us were alone.

Reeling back to the present, I realized it's still the same moon, and the stars are still there too! Just out of sight. I smiled.

"Virgil?" a voice cut through my inner thoughts, it was Roman. I nodded at him, to acknowledge him and went back to staring at the stars. He walked up behind me and pulled me close to him, obviously sleepy. "I woke up and noticed my cuddle buddy wasn't there..." he slurred. I giggled, he was super sleepy and it was super cute. Even if he was my crush, he will always be my friend, so that's all I'm allowed to think he sees me as.

"Do you ever realize that that's the same moon we all came out to each other under?" I asked after a pause of silence. Roman giggled sleepily.

"That's not the same moon silly! The moon we came out to each other under is in Florida!" he murmured, nuzzling the back of my head and neck. I rolled my eyes.

"Go back to bed Roman, you're tired," I said.

"Am not!" Roman argued. I rolled my eyes. "Okay... maybe I am... but it's late and you should go to bed too!"

I didn't get a chance to argue as Roman swept me off my feet (as if he hadn't already) and carried me bridal style to the apartment. He then placed me down on the guest bed and went to his own bedroom. So much for cuddle buddy...

~In the Morning~

I woke up and got out of bed, Logan and Patton were still sleeping on the bed beside mine. I walked out of the bedroom and into the living room, where the curtains had been opened and natural light was pouring into the room.

Roman was sitting on the couch, playing on his phone. I walked over and plopped down next to him. He turned his phone off and looked at me. He looked very nervous.

"Hey Virgil... I wanna tell you something..." he started.

"Goodmorning to you too," I smirked, then bit my lip when I saw his panicked face, "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! What is it Princey?"

He took a deep breath, "Well we've been friends for a while now... and I think you should know..." he trailed off. Is he playing with my feelings? Is he not gay?! DOES HE ALREADY HAVE A BOYFRIEND??  I tried to hide my inner panic and nodded, urging him to go on. He bit his cheek, "I-I like you Virge! More than a friend!" he blurted out.

It was quiet, "Wait really?" I asked, shocked, he nodded carefully. "... But why?" I asked again. Roman smiled fondly.

"Virgil, you may not realize it, you have a wonderful personality," he stated, I raised my eyebrow, unconvinced, Roman rolled his eyes and scooted closer, grabbing my hands, "You're funny, sarcastic, kind when you want to be, addorably stubborne, snarky, you're just... you," he finished.

I didn't hesitated to wrap my arms around him. "How can someone like you possibly like me?" I whispered. Roman tilted my chin up.

" 'Love is blind' my sweet Virgil," Roman smiled. His eyes trailed down to my lips. "Can... Can I kiss you?" he asked. I nodded, he brought my face closer to his slowly, giving me multiple chances to pull away. But once I could feel his breath on my face he took the leap, connecting our lips for the first, and definately not last time.

It was a sweet and innocent kiss, though we could both feel a hidden longing in it too.

We pulled away, it was perfect. I smiled and hugged him, latching onto him like he had to me the previous night.

"LOGAN YOU OWE ME 20 BUCKS!" Pattons voice screamed from the hallway, we whipped around to see Patton standing there with a grin on his face. I very tired and disshelved Logan appeared and looked at us, nodding before dragging Patton back to the room.

My face was hot, Roman just had a little blush, he started laughing lightly, pausing only for a second to kiss my forehead.

I bit my cheek and snuggled closer to him, melting into his warmth. Roman didn't hesitate, wrapping his arms aroud me tightly.

"Virgil, will you give me the honor of being your boyfriend?" he asked, oh so formal.

"Of course," I grinned, nuzzling his side. I could feel Roman beeming as he kissed the top of my head.

"Okay, here are the percs: lots of cuddles, lots of kisses, cliche dates, lots of love. Cons: none, I'm perfect," Roman said. I rolled my eyes.

"You sure are Princey," I sighed contently.

"Awe no fair! You already have a cute pet name for me!" Roman whined. I simply smiled.

"Well than get to it,"

"Whatever you say my little emo-nightmare," he said smugly. I giggled and smacked his face lightly.

I think this has been the best day ever.

Too bad it wasn't under the moon.

But now I have a happy memory with the sun at least. One day I'll be able to tell the kids stories about the sun and moon, but for now, I'm happy as I am. In Romans arms, safe with the morning sunlight dribbling onto our bodies.

~Author's Note~

Hello! I know this chapter is a lot different from my regular ones, but I hope you enjoyed!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

10-30-18: so... my neighbor isn't gonna be here for Halloween, so she fricken knocked on our door and gave my brother and I a candy goodie bag and a caramel apple. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!! I WISH THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE LIKE HER IN THE WORLD!!! SHE IS THE WOMAN I ASPIRE TO BE!!!!

I hope you guys had a lot of fun!

The original chapter had a Halloween party hosted by Roman and Virgil having a panic attack, but the problem with that one was a) I know nothing about panic attacks and I don't want to misrepresent that, b) I had no idea how to transition it.

With this one, you can probably see me struggling to get to the confession, but I think I did a pretty good one-shot!

Ily!!
