Chapter Thirty One
Hunter frowned then his eyes widened. "You're... you're Arcee and Smokscreen. You knew Optimus.." he whispered, shocked. The two smiled and nodded slowly to confirm what he had guessed.
"Dad said he was alive and you went with-." Adrien began, curious and confused but was cut off by Ratchet.
"Easy, we should return to Rafael's home and get them settled. I'm sure they had a long journey." Ratchet spoke sternly, glancing at the twins then looking to the three. He was really concerned. If they came from Darkmount then who knows what horrors they went through. The twins nodded slowly and looked at their father who was struggling to stay standing. They walked over and each took one of his arms then helped him walk back towards the house. The doctor helped get them back to the home without incident. Skye smiled tiredly as she watched them, her family. They were all together again. Finally.
Miko walked over and hugged her daughter then followed the others. Skye went to her grandfather and gently hugged his arm again. They followed Arcee and Smokescreen as the young rookie carried their weak grandmother. Skye smiled a little and looked at her grandfather.
"You okay, Grandad?" She whispered quietly as she gently rubbed his arm. The group slowly walked towards the safe haven of Rafeal's house.
Ratchet blinked and looked down to his arm then at his granddaughter. He smiled a bit at her and nodded. "I'm alright, Skye. How are you? Are you hurt at all?" He asked as he began to worry, frowning again. He wished he had his scanner so he could check her vitals but unfortunately didn't have it. He walked up to the house and opened the door, holding it open for everyone to enter.
"I'm fine, Grandad... honestly... so much better now that everyone is here." She whispered as she continued to hold on to him. She stared for a moment at the others as they went inside, then led him in.
The old man smiled at her and nodded in agreement. He went to a chair by the counter and sat, needing to sit for a moment as he rubbed his old knees with a grunt as he turned to watch the others. He smiled seeing them all reunite. He didn't hug anyone though, keeping to himself off next to the side as he let his family have fun getting together again. He liked watching them be happy, it made him happy.
The twins brought their father to the couch and sat him down gently before sitting beside him. "Do you need anything Dad?" Adrien asked, frowning in concern.
"I'm fine... I'm just need to rest." He whispered as he smiled at them. He was so happy to have them here. He looked to his mother and his expression became sad.
She didn't have any shoes and she was covered in dirt and bruises. She was thin and her bare feet had dried blood on them. Miko spoke quietly to Smokescreen and they took her to the bathroom. They heard a bath running and Miko stayed while Smokescreen left and closed the door for them. The speedster walked to the main room and finally looked at his team. Bumblebee grinned and hugged him tightly as he buried his face and cried again. Bulkhead and Wheeljack hugged him as well then Arcee.
The family and team talked happily and laughed as they hugged each other and held on to one another. Happy to see each other alive and well. The team was silently worried about Optimus. Their leader. But they didn't want to ruin the moment.
Riley smiled a little, looking to Sari who chuckled in delight at everyone. "We will need a bigger house." Sari joked, walking over. "Do you need any clothes? You can borrow some of mine." She looked to Arcee then the others. "Or Rafael's. He won't mind."
"The house next door is available." Raf said as he smiled slightly. "I'm sure Jack and the Autobots want their own home. We can have them close by and still help one another." He said as he watched Quinn run around and talk to people.
"That sounds great, Raf. Thank you." Arcee thanked him with a smile as she crossed her arms. "I'm sure the home is just fine." She said calmly as she looked back to the young speedsters hugging, chuckling a bit to herself.
"I think we all should be together." Ratchet spoke quietly, frowning deeply. Bad things happened when they were separated. He couldn't let them disappear again. "What is something were to happen? We would be safer together wouldn't we?" He spoke quietly with a serious expression. He was afraid to even just have a bit of his family next door.
"Ratchet there isn't room. It's only next door." Sari reassured with a small smile. "Don't worry, if you ever need anything just give us a holler." She told him as she rubbed the old man's back before going to check to see if Miko needed help, the woman walking fine on her own as she was healing quick.
"It's alright Ratchet... I promise." Rafael said as he walked over and gripped his shoulder. "We won't be far away." He said as he tried to reassure him. He didn't want him to be scared of losing them.
The medic nodded a little, frowning as he resisted a shiver down his back. He didn't like it. He had a bad feeling about it. "Are you sure...? What if... what if something happens?" He asked again, worried as he looked at the man. He cared for them as much as his own family.
"We are right here. All of us are. If we need to we can have your family in one house with some of the team, and the others here. What would you like us to do?" Rafael asked calmly as he watched his worried friend.
The doctor was silent, thinking for a long moment. He rubbed his chin and sighed. "I think... it will be safer if Bumblebee and someone else stayed with your family." He said seriously looking at Rafael. If Optimus thought Bumblebee should protect him before then he wanted to stick with it. But since the family grew he figured someone else should be with them. "Maybe Smokescreen can stay as well." He said quietly. He was a good warrior and was similar to Bumblebee's age.
Rafael nodded slowly as he watched him then smiled a little. He knew the wreckers and Arcee would refuse to leave their side. Smokescreen and Bumblebee would be fine together. The young man agreed as he watched his friend and gently gripped his arm. "Ratchet... we'll figure this out... you need to calm down and enjoy your family.... they're all okay and here now." He whispered quietly.
Ratchet gave a faint nod, smiling. "I'm fine, Rafael. I'm just wanting everyone safe, that is all." He said gently as he patted the young man's hand. Ratchet grunted and began standing up, wondering if June was done getting cleaned up. The old doctor hummed and glanced at Arcee and Smokescreen with the others, smiling. Happy that his family was together again.

Miko looked to the door and furrowed her brow when she heard a knock. She left the older woman and opened the door a little. She smiled slightly and let Sari in then went back to helping June. The woman was cleaned and dressed now. Miko was doing her hair and drying it. Sari smiled at them, walking over. "Need help?" She asked looking at the mirror to watch as she leaned against the door, calm.
The wrecker mother looked at her and smiled a little as she continued to brush the woman's hair. "Well... I'm not sure to be honest." She said as she smiled brightly. June looked at the woman tiredly and smiled a little as she weakly held a hand out to her.
"Sari... you've grown so much since the last time I saw you." She rasped quietly. "But still so beautiful." She complemented.
The red haired mother blinked and she smiled brightly, a small blush forming on her cheeks. "Thank you June." She said gently and walked closer then took her thin hand gently, clasping her fingers with the older woman's. "You have been getting more beautiful too." She kissed her head gently and smiled at her through the mirror. "Are you feeling weak? We have dinner made if you're hungry.'' She offered, worried for her thin body.
June smiled a little and looked at her as she sighed. "I can't remember the last time I had a good meal..." she admitted and weakly gripped her hand. "Thank you... for everything..." she said as she watched the two of them. Miko finished and smiled a little as she gripped her other hand.
"You're safe now mama Darby. And I'm sure Ratchet is relieved and excited to have you back." She said. June smiled more, wanting to see her husband and tried to get up. "Wow easy. You can't walk yet." She said and looked at her wounded feet. She knew Ratchet would fret and check her for injuries.
Saris eyes watered a bit at the older woman. She nodded and rubbed the top of her hand reassuringly. "I'll get you some dinner and Ratchet to fix up those feet of yours." The red head told her gently, letting her hand go as she began slipping out into the hall again. She closed the door and smiled, heading to the kitchen, patting Ratchets shoulder gently as she passed. "June needs you for a moment." She told him and went to the stove.
Ratchet blinked and nodded, walking to the bathroom and knocking lightly. "June?" he asked as worry instantly gripped his heart. What happened? He knew he shouldn't have left her. He was told he could enter and he hesitantly opened the door.
The old woman looked up at the door and her eyes widened as tears filled them. She smiled brightly and reached for him. "Ratchet..." she said as tears fell down her thin face. She was so frail and thin. Once he got to her she gripped his hands and kissed them. Her shaky hands gripped his face and she sobbed as she kissed him. Happy to see him again. Miko smiled sadly and moved to the door.
The old doctor smiled brightly at seeing her. She was in a terrible state but she was alive. Ratchet slowly crouched down, grunting at his weak knees as he did so. "Oh June, I missed you." He whispered, setting his hands over hers, lightly kissing her palms and wrist. Ratchet kissed her back and smiled, setting his forehead against hers, taking her presence in. "I thought I lost you when I heard you were... were in that dreadful place. I thought we wouldn't be able to bring you here." He began to rasp, choking up. She was here, alive. Just like how he remembered her. She was real.
His hands gently cupped hers as his thumbs rubbed the top of her hands. "I thought I was crazy, June. I could only remember you in the beginning but then I wasn't even sure if you were real but I had to know. I had to get to you and you're finally here again." He rambled, happy. He kissed her nose gently, laughing softly as tears fell down his wrinkled face, his eyes sparkling.
Miko paused and looked at him as tears filled her eyes. She bit her lip and slipped out as she thought about what he said. The Doc was grumpy, not crazy. June enjoyed every moment and kiss. She smiled sadly at his words and gently hugged his head to her shoulder. "Shh shh shh... it's alright love." She whispered quietly as she held on to him weakly. "I'm here... you aren't crazy. You were never crazy." She assured him as she rested her head against his.
Ratchet buried his head into her shoulder and choked on his tears, hugging her close to him. "Thank you... thank you.. " he murmured, holding his forehead against hers as he calmed down. His eyes opened again and he smiled more than took notice of her feet. His eyes widened in surprise and he began gently letting go of her hands to inspect her feet. "What happened to you?" He asked worriedly.
June looked at him then gently let go and glanced at her feet. She shook her head and weakly held one of his hands between both of hers. "Don't worry my love... I was simply trying to run away with a few others... I gave my shoes to someone and... fell behind. Then I got captured again..." she whispered and trailed off as she thought. "I'm fine sweetie... I promise." she said.
The doctor frowned and opened a cabinet with his free hand, gently taking a First Aid kit out and setting it on the ground. He opened it and began tending to her feet anyway. "Oh hush, you're fine when I say so." He grunted as he released her hand to work properly.
She smiled a little as she watched him work, her hand gently touching his shoulder or rubbing his head, as if she was trying to make sure he was real. "Oh I missed you..." she whispered and let him work on her feet. She was malnourished and that concerned the others, they could still lose her.
Ratchet frowned deeply, slowly focusing more on her feet than the conversation. He began taking more of her health in and grumbled quietly. "I missed you too." He spoke softly as he worked, frowning deeply as he carefully wrapped the bandages around her feet.
"I missed you too... don't worry about me..." she rasped as she grew weaker. Losing energy as she sat there. It was taking a lot out of her. She swayed dangerously and weakly gripped his shoulder.
"I always worry about you. I will about everyone." Ratchet muttered as he tightened it a bit. He began standing up and kissed the top of her head. "You're blood sugar seems low. Let's get you some dinner." He smiled a bit seeing her sway. He rubbed her cheek gently, stopping her from falling over.
"Thank you love... I haven't had a decent meal... I don't remember..." she chuckled sadly as she held on to him. She gently gripped his hand then kissed it as she smiled and tears fell. "I missed you... oh how I missed you...." she whispered.

Sari looked to Miko as she left and took the finished plate into her hands. "Miko?" She blinked seeing her tears. "Are you alright?" She asked her friend with a frown, holding the plate steady.
The other woman looked at her and nodded quickly then wiped her tears away as she smiled. "Yes... I'm just happy for them... happy that our family is together again." she said.
She smiled a bit, nodding in understanding. "Me too." She said honestly. "Everyone is here but Optimus." She noticed, glancing around her full living room.
The dark haired mother nodded slowly and sighed as she watched the wreckers talk to their team. "What do we do when he gets here? Or if he gets here.... we can't really fight the cons like this." she said.
"I'm not sure." Sari spoke honestly, worry in her features. "But we're safe enough to think of something. We have time." She reassured her friend, smiling a bit. "We will handle this."
Miko nodded and smiled a little as she looked to the team. "Maybe they can get to their alternate mode." She said as she smiled.
Riley glanced at them, overhearing. "Maybe. But it's dangerous to do that." She said quietly, frowning. "Bumblebee had seizures because his alternate mode was getting turned on." She muttered, still feeling guilty about that as she pulled her fingers anxiously. Sari nodded a little.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to look for them anyway." She smiled a little, setting the plate down quietly and looking to her daughter.
Miko nodded slowly and heard Ratchet say they needed to feed June. "I'm sure they all know where their modes are." She said seriously and motioned for Smokescreen. She frowned at what Riley said. "It might be too dangerous then..." she muttered, not wanting anyone else to die, or almost die. She shuddered at the memory of Jack being stepped on. They knocked on the bathroom door, June looked to it and told them to come in. The door opened and the two entered as they smiled a little.
"Let's get you into a bed and then we'll let you eat peacefully." Miko explained. The old woman nodded slowly and Smokescreen carefully picked her up. They took her to a spare room and laid her in it, but had her propped up so she could eat. They set the food down on the nightstand and quietly left to give her and Ratchet some peace.
Ratchet chuckled softly at his wife, holding her close then looked to the door as Miko opened it. He relaxed and began watching Smokescreen take her into a room to lay down in. Ratchet followed with worry as Sari came after with her dinner plate. Once it was set down and they left, Ratchet sat beside her, helping her eat as he watched over her.
Sari shut the door slowly and looked to them. "She should be sleeping soon." She hummed softly. "Should we talk about splitting us all up into two homes?" She asked quietly.
Miko nodded and they went back to the living room. "Yes we should. We need to get this figured out and soon if we all want a bed tonight." She joked.
The red head laughed in amusement, nodding in agreement. She went to the living room and grasped the back of a chair, clearing her throat to quiet the wreckers. "Few of us were talking and we think it would be best if we split into two homes. There is a free home next door that I think the Darby should take."
The team fell silent and looked at her then each other. They weren't exactly sure what to say to that. "You... want.... to separate... us?" Bumblebee asked as he looked at them. His voice still struggling.
"We simply don't have enough room for everyone here. I think we would all be safe here but... we need beds. All of you need beds to sleep in." Sari told them calmly. "Darby family there with the wreckers and Arcee of course... then everyone else here."
They all thought about it and nodded slowly, figuring that was for the best. "Alright. Let's set up shop then." Arcee said seriously and looked at the others.
Wheeljack sighed softly and began getting up. "Do we do this now?" He asked raising an eyebrow. "Well, let... why don't I go get you that home first?" Riley offered. "I... I can go get the papers and such." She said quietly.
"Got it covered." Raf said as he held up the paperwork. "Jack and I worked on this. We can get people to move things in and you guys can go later when you feel like it." He said.
Riley blinked and nodded. "Oh okay." She smiled a bit and set her things down. Sari hummed softly. "I should go to the market and fill the fridge with groceries." She muttered. "We can cover that Mrs. Esquivel." Wheeljack spoke up with a smile.
"Everyone just relax for now. We can deal with this in a few minutes." Raf said as he looked at them.

June thanked them all over and over again then looked to her husband. She smiled a little as he helped her eat. She gripped one of his arms but allowed him to move freely. She just wanted to know he was still there. She stared at him as she ate and smiled weakly.
Ratchet smiled at her and brushed the hair from her face. He was calm, relaxed. "June..." he murmured. "You feeling better?" He asked worriedly after she ate for a bit. "Feeling less lightheaded?"
She nodded slowly and smiled as she gently pushed his hand away. "I can't... eat anymore..." she whispered quietly and looked at him. She hadn't eaten very much but just enough. "I'm fine...." she rasped.
The medic blinked and frowned. He set the fork down on the plate and rubbed her cheek. "Alright. Maybe more a bit later." He smiled faintly, his forehead holding wrinkles of concern. He looked down and gently took her left hand with his, smiling faintly at their rings.
She looked at him tiredly and gently gripped his hand. She sighed and closed her eyes as she started to fall asleep. She was tired and sore and needed to rest. She didn't want to let go of him though and didn't want to lose him. "Stay with me... please..." she rasped as she barely opened an eye.
"I will. Don't worry." Ratchet reassured her, kissing her knuckles gently. He laid back on the bed and let his head relax on a comfortable pillow. He yawned softly and rested part of his head on her shoulder. "Sleep June. I'm not going to leave you."
She smiled slightly and gripped his hand then rested her head against his. "Thank you..." she whispered and dozed off. "Don't leave me..." she rasped and fell asleep.
Ratchet smiled faintly. "I won't... don't worry." He murmured and rubbed the top of her hand with his thumb. He closed his eyes tiredly and began falling asleep with her. She sighed shakily and held on to him as she slowly fell asleep. She twitched a little and tried to sleep without any nightmares.
