Chapter Sixteen
Sari looked over to see Skye and smiled a little. "Hi... Skye." She whispered quietly as she looked at the young woman, her eyes brightening. "You are... a beautiful young lady."
Skye blushed deeply and looked down as she put her wild hair behind her ear. "Oh... um... thank you." She mumbled and glanced at Raf as he chuckled softly. Sometimes he didn't know who she took after more, Jack or Miko.
"You're welcome." Sari smiled at her faintly. "I never knew your... parents... I'm sure.... I'm sure they are very proud." She whispered, looking over to the other woman.
"Thank you..." she whispered quietly as she smiled a little more. Though she was slightly confused, this woman knew her family.
Sari nodded quietly and sighed softly. "Sweetheart... I think... I think I can... sit up today.." she whispered. "Will you help me?" She asked almost shamefully, shifting a bit in the bed.
Rafael smiled a little and gently kissed her. "Of course love." He said and carefully helped her sit up.
Sari shifted as she began sitting up and laid against propped up pillows, leaning against the headboard. "Thank you..." she murmured, looking at him gratefully. Raf smiled a little as he stayed by her side and Skye sat down by them.
"Sari... you may have met them once or twice... the twins even... I don't know... I remember mom talking about you and how amazing you were. She said the two of you became good friends and got into trouble a lot." She smiled a little.
The sick woman was silent for a moment, thinking. "Yes..." she smiled a little embarrassed that she forgot. "I remember. We used to, yes. Scared your father with... the trouble." She chuckled softly, her eyes closing for a moment before she opened them and looked at Skye. "The twins I remember a little... they liked bugging you a lot... but were... sweet boys." She murmured.
Skye smiled brightly and looked at her as tears filled her eyes. "I'll never complain about that again." She choked. Raf smiled sadly as he looked at her then at his wife.
Sari's expression softened and she weakly reached up and rubbed her cheek with her thumb. "I'm sure... we can find them." She whispered. "Give it... time.."
The young woman nodded and smiled sadly as she watched her. "Thank you... I hope so too..." she whispered
The sick mother smiled a bit and lowered her hand. "It will be alright..." she murmured tiredly. She leaned her head back and sighed softly. "How is your father?" She whispered.
Skye looked at her hands and fought back tears. "He's still in a coma... I'm so worried about him... but I know he'll be able to wake up soon." She whispered.
"Oh I'm so sorry." Sari whispered, her expression falling. "I... wish I could help..." she frowned deeply at the news.
The child smiled sadly and looked at her then nodded a little. "It's okay... he'll be alright." She whispered quietly.
Sari smiled and nodded a little before laying against the pillows, tired. She closed her eyes, sighing softly. "I'm glad... to see you... again."
The young woman smiled a little and nodded once. "It was so good to see you as well." She whispered quietly.
Sari smiled a little before it faded, her expression relaxing as she began to fall asleep. Her breathing softened and she began to sleep peacefully on the bed.
Raf watched her intently then gently kissed her forehead and brushed some hair out of her face. He looked at Skye who smiled a little and quietly left.
She blinked in surprise as she saw the others running around. "What's going on?" She asked. Riley ran out of the apartment after Bee, worried.
Ratchet looked over at Skye as he searched. "Bumblebee knows the cure for her. We are trying to find it." He spoke seriously, his voice rushed with concern as he dug through things.
"What does it even look like?" She asked as she watched the two go and started to worry. She bit her lip and glanced at Quinn. She was looking at them and seemed to catch on what they were doing.
"I... am unsure. But it should be quite obvious of what it is... shouldn't it?" Ratchet blinked, unsure. He suspected it would be contained in a fairly noticeable bottle with a label but wasn't sure. He shook his head and continued looking.
Skye nodded slowly and looked around as she ran a hand through her hair. She bit her lip as she tried to figure things out. Quinn watched them then glanced towards the other room. She got up and wandered off as Bumblebee and Riley came back empty handed.
The doctor sighed heavily as he couldn't find it. He glanced over at the two when they entered again. "Anything?" He frowned as Riley shook her head. Ratchet rubbed his face. "Bumblebee, do you remember anything that made that cure? Anything at all?"
He shook his head then nodded and shook his head again. He was in a panic. He sat on the couch and buried his face in his hands as he gripped his hair. He wanted to help and knew how long she had, but was afraid to make it. He couldn't get it wrong.
Ratchet frowned and went to his side, then sat down and rubbed his back. "Relax, Bumblebee. It's hard to think on a clouded mind. Take a few breathes now." He murmured as he watched him with worry.
Bumblebee shook his head and did as the doctor told him to. He was stressed and didn't want the family to lose their mother. Skye looked at Riley and went over to comfort her if need be.
The medic frowned and gently hugged the young man, worried. He rubbed his back gently. "Easy..." he murmured and looked at Skye quietly. Riley was shaking a bit, not wanting to be rude and rush Bumblebee so she remained quiet. She really wanted to find the cure that could save Sari, annoyed that it was just out of reach. She looked at Skye and frowned deeply.
They didn't know what to do and Bumblebee was stressed out about how to help. He sighed shakily and hugged him then got up and wrote before pacing a little.
-Ratchet... she only has a week left at the most... she's had this sickness too long.
The doctor pulled the paper to him and read it. He frowned a bit. "Then this is a week to find this cure. Why don't we go to the lab and figure this out?" He asked quietly as he watched him pace.
He looked at him then nodded slowly as he rubbed his face in irritation. He was mad that they lost it, that he lost it and didn't know where to look. They prepared to leave but stopped suddenly when little Quinn walked into the room. She was holding a satchel in her arms and looked up at them.
"Pretty flowers." She whispered quietly and held it out. Bumblebee blinked in surprise and went over then crouched by her. He carefully took it and looked inside to find the cure and recipe. He grinned excitedly and rubbed her head in thanks, then kissed her cheek, making her giggle.
Riley breathed in relief as she saw it, understanding that that was the cure in the satchel. She took a shaky breath and sat down, relieved and relaxed. Ratchet walked over and looked to Bumblebee. "The cure is in that?" He asked with a murmur, looking at his bag.
He nodded quickly and rushed to the kitchen then started boiling water and making a type of tea. Quinn giggled as she watched the funny man then went to color again. Skye sat by her friend and gently pulled her into a hug.
Ratchet followed, watching intently on what he was doing. His eyebrows furrowed. "What leaves are these?" He blinked.
Riley made sure Quinn was alright before hugging her friend back, closing her eyes tightly. "We should tell my Dad." She whispered.
Bumblebee looked at him and tried to explain but was too busy and shook his head a little. He added a few other plants and herbs then continued as he dug around in his bag. Worried he was too late. Skye looked at her and nodded before standing with her and walking to the other room.
Ratchet apologized quietly and then went silent, frowning as he simply watched. He tried to keep track of the plants being put in, studying him. He noticed Skye and Riley leaving then looked back at the tea he was making.
Bumblebee finally stopped and hung his head as he sighed shakily and bit his lip, letting the tea boil. He was worried things wouldn't work, that it wouldn't work. He looked at him then pulled the recipe out of the bag and gave it to the doctor.
Ratchet took the recipe calmly and began reading over it, frowning. His eyes narrowed as he read it. "Bumblebee... some of these plants... we need to search desperately for these seeds. We're underground, it is difficult to grow... anything. To be honest, how do we know we have enough? She will definitely need more than one cup of tea to get better. She will have to drink a cup of this each day." Ratchet told him with a worried frown, he waved the paper a bit as he spoke. "We need to get more of this plant. If the Decepticons are truly behind this virus then we need to get these seeds and plant many." He said quietly.
Bumblebee nodded and looked at the water, thankfully it was enough for maybe five cups. He looked at him with concern then bit his lip again. He didn't know what to do.
Ratchet looked at Bumblebee and sighed softly. "Forget my concerns. We can worry about it later." He said gently as he grabbed a mug. He took the teapot handle and poured the tea into the mug calmly, adding a small bit of honey. He stirred the leaves and honey around in the hot water, turning the clear liquid to a gold orange. He took the mug and began going to Rafs room.
Bumblebee sighed and gripped the counter as he hung his head, he didn't want to forget, he wanted to just help. He felt so useless lately and didn't want Ratchet to feel the same way.

Skye went into the room and glanced at Raf who was holding his wife.
Riley entered with her quietly, looking to the sleeping woman who looked more frail by the minute. "Dad...? Can... can we speak to you?" She whispered with a small shaky smile.
Raf looked at her then furrowed his brow and nodded slowly before getting up and setting the woman down carefully. He then walked over to them with a look of concern. "Everything alright?" he asked.
"Yes." Riley nodded and fiddled with her necklace quietly. "Bumblebee has the cure for Mom." She whispered, her voice shaky as she smiled in happiness. "Bumblebee has seen it before. He's making it now for her."
Raf stared at her then smiled brightly before hugging her tightly as he laughed. "Oh thank goodness!" He cried then looked at Ratchet as he entered. The father then went to wake his wife.
Ratchet went to Saris bedside, smiling a little as he watched Raf get so happy. Riley giggled a bit at how giddy her father was and stayed by to watch them.
Sari slowly opened her eyes, blinking a bit. "Hm...? Sweet... sweetheart? What is it?" She breathed as she tried to sit up, confused by the amount of people in the room.
Raf helped her sit up and held her close. "Bumblebee found the cure and Ratchet has it now." He whispered quietly. "You just have to drink the medication." He explained.
Sari blinked, looking at Raf then Ratchet who went to her, blowing gently on the hot tea. He held the warm mug in his old hands and carefully held it to her. Sari looked to it and smiled, carefully touching the mug as she drank it with Ratchets help. When she finished Ratchet took away the mug and began leaving with it when Riley took it from him.
"I'll take it." She muttered and began leaving the room. Ratchet nodded and went back to Sari and Rafael, checking on her.
Raf spoke gently to her as he rocked her a little bit. He was so happy and didn't want her to get worse. He didn't even know how long she had. He hummed a bit as he checked on her.
Ratchet sat on the bed and began checking her lungs and heart quietly with his stethoscope. Sari did as Ratchet instructed, leaning against her husband tiredly. She looked down at his hand and gently took it with her slender fingers. "I'm so glad... Bumblebee came... when he did..." she whispered as Ratchet took her pulse silently.
"I'm glad too... but I'm also glad Ratchet came when he did." He whispered quietly and looked at the doctor as he smiled. "Thank you." He said.
Ratchet looked at him and smiled a bit, nodding. He stood and left the room for a moment then came in with a black duffle bag, opening it and grabbing a blood pressure cuff and gently wrapping it around her arm. He placed the bell on her arm and inflated the cuff rapidly then listened silently.
Sari watched him then looked to her thin arm. She closed her eyes tiredly as she let the doctor check her. Ratchet hummed and began taking the cuff off after a moment. "Still fairly normal. Her blood pressure is fairly low but other than that... she seems fine." He muttered, indicating he didn't see anything worrisome about her at the moment.
Rafael grinned as tears filled his eyes and he hugged her close then kissed her forehead and head. "Thank you... thank you so much for everything." He whispered quietly. Bumblebee stood at the doorway and smiled a little as he stayed outside the room, and hidden from view, not wanting to bother them. It felt good to help his family again. Even if it was something small.
