The first few hours of the next day were spent on the quiz, some of the answers took a fair amount of time to answer. In the end, Lapin was the one who won, and Kaito only narrowly beat Saguru because he was faster at writing than the blond. After that they spent their time trying to defeat one another in board games. They stayed away from card games and Monopoly because those could cause arguments.

Then an extravagant dinner came and went, fancy tableware and expensive looking food was served. It was very enjoyable overall, yet weirdly enough Hiroyuki didn't join them and some of the other guests were starting to look a little nervous.

"Mr.Kanya hasn't come back yet..." Fujisawa noted, wiping his face with a napkin. They were all still seated at the dinner table.

Ayako pulled out her copy of the Holmes Quiz as she turned towards Iwai "Tell him to come back please! I would like it if he could correct my questionnaire!"

Iwai frowned "He asked me to take care of you all until dinner. He told me that he'll be back afterwards..."

Leaning forward, Ikuo grinned "In my opinion, he's planning a surprise!"

Maria nodded happily "I think so too!"

Kaito hummed "A surprise for the test would make sense, but our quizzes haven't been graded yet" He glanced around, noting that Hattori looked completely bored out of his mind.

"Indeed..." Saguru frowned, glancing at his pocket watch "It's also getting quite late" It was almost half past 9.

"By the time everything's ready, it'll be morning" Lapin grimaced.

Lapin's comment ended up being more than correct, by the time midnight had come and gone, Hiroyuki had still not returned.

Fujisawa banged his fist on the table, understandably annoyed "Enough of it!" He stood up from the table "I'm returning to my bedroom!" He pulled out his quiz and began tearing it to shreds "I wasted my whole day doing this questionnaire!"

Iwai gaped, looking shocked "Sir..."

With the outburst, the room's mood changed "So it's perhaps true..." Maria slumped sadly, resting her cheek in her hand "...That he never intended to offer his first edition! He'll void our answers and nobody will be the winner!" She let out a despondent sigh "What he really wanted to do is just show off his book" She stood up "I'm going to sleep..." Ikuo and Nanako followed after her as she left. Kento just stared silently at his watch but stayed seated.

Kaito yawned, drowsy but still capable "I'm tired, but what if this is just testing our resolve so see who wants the book the most?"

Saguru eyed Kaito with a bit of concern "I doubt it, you should head back before you're too tired to make it by yourself" Kaito's crutches took a fair amount of concentration to use them the way he did.

Hattori yawned, looking drowsy as well "I'm sick of this waiting..."

Ayako leaned against Kento, holding his arm "Kento, are we going to sleep?"

Kento just smirked "Be patient, it's in this kind of situation that the winners are recognized" He paused, smirk fading as he glanced out the window "Hm?" He turned more to get a better look "It's the car we came in"

"Who's driving out this late at night?" Ayako questioned "Oh, it's the owner!"

Kento smirked "I'm sure of it! Now the game will begin!" By then those still at the table had gotten up to look.

"Wait..." Kaito's drowsiness faded as he realized something.

"It's moving towards the cliff" Saguru finished. Lapin and Hattori took off through the window, Saguru stayed behind to steady Kaito since the Osakan detective had unintentionally shoved him. The blond scowled "What a brute"

Kaito just laughed it off "He was just focused on saving a life" Though he really would have fallen if Saguru hadn't helped him. Kaito's grin faded when the car went off the cliff "Let's go see if they got any clues" Hiroyuki was dead, and the car had exploded and gotten lost at sea. They all exited the Inn, meeting Lapin and Hattori who were looking over the cliff.

"In front of us, while wearing his Sherlock Holmes costume" Hattori grimaced "He just drove into the sea"

With tearful eyes and a horrified face, Iwai spoke "But why did he...?" Her voice was small.

"It was murder!" Despite the situation, Kento was looking quite pleased. The others just looked at him in shocked confusion.

"Kento..." Ayako nervously spoke, looking uneasy.

"The car went very slowly" Kento shrugged "Someone could have given him sleeping pills or killed him before putting him in the car" He was smirking "It would suffice to start the car at a certain speed and the it'll go by itself" He turned and pointed towards the garage "The murderer could have acted in the garage"

Eyes wide Fujisawa nodded in agreement "Of course the culprit acted surprised and ran over here after hearing the explosion"

"So the culprit is one of us?!" Maria gasped.

Kento nodded, looking smug as he pushed up his glasses "Yes, most likely"

Hattori shook his head "But the car suddenly accelerated"

"Eh?" Kento looked a bit unsure.

"There's something that's been bugging me" Hattori's eyes narrowed "There was a strange Sound coming from the card, as if there was wind in it. It wasn't the sound of the engine"

Lapin nodded, turning towards Kaito and Saguru "I heard it too"

"It was probably the air conditioning! It probably switched on with the car" Ikuo speculated.

Maria nodded in thought "Yes, it was quite hot and he turned it on when we were in the car"

Fujisawa brought out a smoke "Whatever it was, making his suicide look like a murder" He flicked on his lighter "Really, wearing a Sherlock Holmes costume too" He sighed.

"It's really sad..." Nanako sighed, looking down "Such a nice costume..." Ikuo and Fujisawa looked taken aback at her words.

Unhappy with how laxly they were treating Hiroyuki's death, Kaito frowned "We can't recover the body, so let's call the police" Lapin was already on his hands and knees investigating the tire tracks. He let out a small snort when Lapin and Hattori ended up bumping heads.

"Be more cautious of your surroundings" Saguru sighed. Three people on the ground would just be crowded.

Me: Hattori's rashness almost hurt Kaito~ It's not like Kaito can catch himself as easily as most people. Thankfully Saguru is a gentleman ^-^.... Also imagine all four of them crawling around on the ground getting in each other's way XD
