After dinner, I went into the bedroom. I looked at my phone again and Paola replied. I also had more texts from Luka. But again, I wasn't ready yet. Paola agreed on breakfast in the morning. We'll be meeting at a cafe around 9 am. I sent my mom a text so she wouldn't make breakfast for me. A couple minutes later, I grabbed some clothes, a towel and headed to take a shower. Afterwards I went straight to bed. I did not even look at my phone. But if only I remembered I shared my location with Luka. As I slept he remembered that fact. Looked around until he figured it out. A surprise the following day I was definitely going to have.

The following morning, I woke up and sort of had a 'where am I?' moment. Then I remembered my entire previous day. And my heart was hurt all over again. Luka. I shook off any thought of him and got up to do my morning routine. So I'd meet with Paola on time. Walking by the kitchen I yelled out, "I'll see you later Ma." And I was on my way to Paola. I got to the cafe pretty quickly. Paola wasn't there yet so I chose to just go in and get a table for the both of us. I was seated and about ten minutes later I saw Paola rushing in.

I laughed. "Oh my goodness Leena I'm so sorry." I laughed some more. She gave me a smudged look. "Paola you are fine." I got up to hug her. "Oh my goodness Leena. You look great. Look at that belly!" She embraced me. We sat and the waiter came. We placed our orders. "So what brings you here? And don't come telling me it's just a surprise visit. Because there is no way you'd leave Luka behind." I sighed. "That obvious?" She laughed. "It sure is, at least to me. So?" I sighed again because how could I just talk about this right? I was in my own battle, that I didn't hear the door open. I didn't hear Paola gasp. I didn't hear the footsteps heading towards us. I didn't realize Paola's petrified face. I didn't hear the voice speaking. I was nowhere near ready for what happened next. Because of course my life could have never been simple. Life always had to throw me curve balls.
