I saw Paola rush in and rush past us. That couldn’t be good. “Paola?” Aaron called for her in question. Lily didn’t come behind her so something must have happened. “Go ahead and check on her, I’ll check on Lily.” Aaron got up quickly and went after Paola. I picked up Lila and rushed into the living room, placed her in her playpen and rushed to Lily. When I walked out onto the patio, I saw her. She was sitting there crying. I went over to her and picked her up. “Hey Lily, what's wrong?” She just sobbed in my arms. What could they have spoken about to get Lily that upset? Lily didn’t speak. She didn’t answer me, just held on and sobbed. So I silently held her. 

A few minutes go by. “Lily, we have to go back in. Lila is in her playpen. She pushed herself off me, wiped her face and walked past me to go inside. I followed her, she went straight to Lila and picked her up. She held her close and just stood there. Paola and Aaron must have still been in the guest room because I didn’t see them. “We’ll talk when she goes for her nap.” She walked out of the living room with Lila still in her arms and went into Lila’s room. I sighed, so confused about what happened. What exactly could have been said to hurt Lily that horribly? I was brought out of thoughts by Aaron, who walked into the living room. But Paola wasn’t with him. 

“Do you have any idea what’s going on?” I asked Aaron. “Paola didn’t say much, but I know this trip was so Paola can tell Leena our news in person. She was afraid of doing so. And I’m assuming this is why.” I looked at him confused. “What news?” And before Aaron got to speak Paola walked into the living room. “That I am pregnant.” And at that moment I knew Lily was not ok. “Congratulations to the both of you. Now will you excuse me, I need to check on Lily and Lila.” I tried not sounding sarcastic, because that wasn’t what I was trying to sound like. But I knew my Lily was completely devastated. And I just needed to get to her. 

I walked into Lila’s room and Lily was in her rocking chair just watching Lila sleep. “Hey there, beautiful.” Her head snapped my direction. She gave me a sad smile. She was no longer crying but her eyes were so puffy. “It’s ok to feel everything you’re feeling. No one is upset with you for that.” She didn’t speak so I continued. “Paola may be sad but she also understands. You both have gone through a lot. When you’re ready I know she will listen. She loves you Lily” I saw the single tear running down her cheek. “I love you Lily.”
