A few days had gone by and nothing from Paola. The last actual conversation I had with her was when I finally started coming around again after everything that happened the day Lila was born. We had spoken about everything. She had brought up the day we saw Jacob again. We both wondered who ended up bailing him out because the last we heard, his bail was really high and he had to do two years in. We brushed that off quickly and she spoke about her boyfriend. Who I couldn't really say much about because again two times was not enough to know anyone. She did say she was happy so I just wasn't understanding what was so hard she couldn't speak to me about it. I brushed the thoughts away as I heard Lila's little cry. It was time for her bottle. I gave her a bottle and she quickly settled.

About an hour or so later, my phone began to ring. I grabbed it from the counter and looked at the name. Paola. I hesitated but answered. "Hey." At first it was quiet. Then she finally spoke. "Hey, can I come see you this weekend?" I was shocked she wanted to even come. "Sure, are you coming with Aaron or just you?" I didn't care if he did decide to come, I just wanted to know to let Luka know. "I'm not sure yet, let me see if he will or not and I'll let you know." I said ok and that was it. I called Luka and let him know. He said ok to keep him posted. Then asked about Lila. I loved how much he loved her. How much he loved me. That evening, Paola texted me and said Aaron would be joining her. I texted back an ok and that was it.

Two days later and there was Paola coming out of her car with Aaron. Something seemed different about her. I brushed it off and just waited for them at the door. Luka was in the kitchen with Lila, feeding her baby food. Paola finally reached the top step and gave me a hug. "Hey, I'm sorry." I hugged her back, but it felt different. She felt different. She looked different. "Hey." Aaron said. I said hello back and we made our way inside. "Luka is in the kitchen with Lila, I'll be in there if you need anything. Go on ahead and place your bags in the guest room." They both nodded and went on to the guest room. I met Luka in the kitchen and Lila instantly started smiling and babbling.
