Chapter Twenty
{If you vote for this chapter, I'll give ya a cookie! c;}
Kayden's POV:
"No," I hear a voice say, pulling me from my dreams. "Hell no. Away, now. You'll wake Kayd, plus I will kick your ass."
"Aw, come on! He's not even awake and he won't feel it! Let me kiss him," Another voice whines. "Just one kiss!"
My eyes slowly flutter open, and I see Sam standing next to my bed, arms crossed. I try to move, but realize I have something holding me down.
Or someone.
"Ugh, this is just like the first time I met you," I grumble sleepily and weakly push West off of me. "Get off, you fat ass."
West whines and smacks my head. "Best friends do not call each other "fat asses"!"
"Eh, fat ass, don't eat my Toaster Strudels!" My fiancé cries, tackling Darren to the ground and prying his favorite breakfast from his hands. "My food, not yours. Eat Kayden's disgusting Cheerios."
The two continue to bicker as I try to push West off. "West, I'm dangerously close to punching you in the dick," My hand hovers around his no-no square, ready to punch him there.
"How about you grab it there, instead?" West winks.
"No," I growl.
"Please? I won't tell your stupid, sexy fiancé!" My best friend pouts. West hasn't tried to hit on me in a week... I wonder if he is getting over Darren already...
"What about Darren?" I ask innocently, hoping for a hilarious reaction. "You don't like him anymore?" I snicker as a bright red blush spreads across West's face.
Both of our eyes snap to Darren, who has stopped fighting with Sam and is now listening to us. West smiles at him weakly while discretely punching me in the leg.
"Hey!" I cry and rub at my now bruising leg. "Don't try to hit on me while my soon-to-be husband is in the room and I won't say things!"
"Yeah don't hit on- Wait, you hit on Kayden?" Sam scowls at my best friend while taking a bite of the Toaster Strudel. "If I wasn't eating I would kick your balls so hard they flew out of your mouth."
The two continue to bicker, but I watch Darren, his eyes trained on West. There is something, some kind of emotion in them, one I can't distinguish. But there is something other than hate and it worries me, for West's sake.
Note to self: Don't leave West and Darren alone.
"Kayden!"
Yelping, I tumble off my bed, just to land on the other bed in the room. It still hurt, nonetheless. "What, West?" I hiss.
"I said, you're mom is calling for us to eat," The purpled hair boy raises an eyebrow. "What's got your panties in a knot?"
Darren scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Out of the two of you, Kayden is not the one who would be wearing girl underwear," He grumbles and pushes himself to his feet. "I'm going to eat, since Sam took my food."
"You stole it from the table first, jackass!" Sam calls as he scurries after his best friend.
I turn to West, who is staring at the doorway with a look of longing. I can tell how much he likes Darren just by the look in his eyes.
"West," I say with a sigh. "You gotta get over Darren, bud. He's straight and dating a girl. Don't take this the wrong way, but I doubt he's ever gonna date you."
My purple haired bestie gives me a small smile and tells me "I don't know, Kayd. I like him so much I'll wait 'till he comes to his senses. Some day, even if it's not for a real long time, we will be together."
My heart clenches up tight in my chest. "Even if that doesn't happen, you and him can always be friends."
"Uh... Your mom sent me to get you for breakfast,"
West and I look to the doorway where Darren is standing, his eyes still holding that look. What is going on with that boy?
"Okay," I turn to West and smile. "Come on, we can finish this conversation later."
When I look back up, Darren is already gone.
"Oh, God, I hope he didn't hear to much," West moans and drops his head into his hands, a slight blush on his cheeks.
I grab his hand and pull him out of the room.
We make our way to the table, where Sam is hungrily scarfing down a huge plate of breakfast food. "This is sooo good, Pattie," My disgusting fiancé says through a mouthful of scrambled eggs, resulting in half-chewed food to fall on the table.
"Ugh, you disgust me," I roll my eyes and take a seat next to him. "Remind me again why I love you?"
He leans over and whispers in my ear "Because I'm banging you tonight,"
My face heats up, but I giggle and push his head away. "Okay, good point. But only that reason,"
"Eh, as long as I get to do that, I'm good," Sam smirks and shoves a piece of toast into his mouth.
"Oh dear God, I did not just hear that," Darren groans and rubs his temples. "Sam, you gotta learn to whisper better. Man, I'm definitely not sleeping over tonight."
"I will!" West wildly waves a hand in the air. "Threesome! Threesome! Threesome!"
Mom walks over to West and smacks the back of his head. "I'm still here, you idiot," She grumbles but ruffles West's hair affectionately. "You're lucky I let you stay here for so long."
"Love you too, Pattie," West smiles an takes a bite of pancake. "Oh God, this is sooo good! I'm living here forever. Mrs. W, adopt me as your second and less annoying, more sexy son!"
My mother takes a seat next to my sister and shakes her head. "Nah, Kayden is annoying enough,"
"Hey!" I pout and cross my arms across my chest. "Rude!"
June laughs and reaches over, flicking my head. "Stop your whining," She then turns and grabs West's hand. "And West, dear, ya basically live here anyway."
"True, true," West nods and shovels more food into his mouth.
"So," My mom says after a minute of comfortable silence. "What are you boys planning to do today?"
Sam grabs my hand and says "I'm taking Kayden on a date." My eyes widen in surprise, but a smile spreads across my face.
"And when were you gonna tell me about this?" I smirks and climb onto his lap.
"Right now," My fiancé kisses my head then turns to our friends. "You two are leaving in an hour."
West pouts but Darren shrugs. "I was gonna see Arabella today anyway,"
"But... But what about the threesome?!" West cries, gesturing to himself, Sam, and I.
"Oh my God," June groans and grabs West's hand, pulling him away from the table. "Guess that means I have you for the day. We're seeing a movie."
"Yes, wife," West rolls his eyes but lets my sister drag him away from us.
Darren stands from the table as well, a piece of toast still in his hands. "I'm gonna go. Thank's for the breakfast Mrs. Whitly," My mom waves a hand dismissively and smiles. "I'll see you later Sam," He nods to my love then leaves as if I wasn't even there.
"He hates me," I sigh and drop my head on Sam's shoulder. "I didn't do anything and he despises me."
"Oh, lots of people hate you, honey," My mother says with a smile, despite her rude words beforehand. "Get over it. Darren doesn't like you because he's afraid you will steal Sam from him. It happens all the time."
Sam chuckles and shakes his head. "Kid just needs to get laid," My mother sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose.
"Still right here!" Mom waves a hand at herself.
"Still not caring!" I wave a hand at Samuel. "When are we leaving for our date anyway, Sam?"
"About an hour, it's still early and I want to go where someone won't know us,"
He looks at me like he is afraid I will be upset, but I'm relieved beyond belief. I wanted to go where people don't know us so we can hold hands and kiss and not be afraid. "Sounds good,"
"Whatever you do, don't get in trouble," Mother warns, her finger flicking between Sam and I.
"Dammit, I was planning on snorting cocaine off of Sam's naked body while fucking him on a dirty floor," I sighed dramatically and shook my head. "Another time, Sam."
"Aw, come on Pattie!" Sam whines, pouting. "I like when Kayd does drugs while naked on me!"
Mom groans and throws a piece of pancake at us. "Knock it off, you pigs," She sighs. "At least you can't get pregnant, Kayden."
"Oh, about that," I smile innocently. "I'm six weeks pregnant, it's a boy. Wanna see the Ultrasound?"
"Little Ethan," Sam nods and rubs my belly. "We had crazy, wild, unprotected sex and it just happened."
My mom sighs and stands from the table, grabbing her plate. "I hate boys, I swear," She leaves the room.
"Wanna have crazy, wild, unprotected sex on the table?" Sam asks after Mom is gone.
"Nah, we will save that for tonight," I wink and jump off his lap. "I'm gonna get ready, you need to, too."
Sam nods and disappears down the hall into his room.
I take a quick shower, brush my teeth and hair, and change into new clothes. "I'm reaaady!" I call outside Sam's door. "Get your ass outta your room, mister!"
Sam opens the door and my jaw drops at how incredible he looks. It's simple yet flattering, tight blue jeans and a black Pierce The Veil shirt, a pair of black vans to tight it all together. His hair is gelled up and his baby blue eyes seem to stand out against his semi-tan skin.
In other words, he looks perfect.
"You're staring at me," He raises an eyebrow.
"You're sexy," I shrug and kiss his cheek. A light blush covers his face, but he smiles nonetheless. "Can you tell me where we're going?"
Sam shakes his head and takes my hand in his. "Nope, it's a surprise," He smiles and tugs me along.
"Bye mom!" I call to my mom, peaking my head into the living room where my mom is watching a movie and drinking tea.
"Bye boys," She calls back, not bothering to look away from the TV. "Be safe. Call me if anything happens."
"Didn't I promise you I wouldn't do drugs off of Sam's body?" I rolls my eyes but smile at her concern. "I love you mom, we will be safe."
Sam says goodbye as well and pulls me away and out the door.
"Tell me where you're taking me," I tell Sam in a sing-song voice.
"No," He replies in the same sing-song tone.
I pout as I climb into Sam's car, my arms crossed over my chest. "Fine, no sex then,"
"I always have my hand," He shrugs and starts the car. "But I promise you will love it, okay?"
I sigh but nod, letting my head fall against the window. "But darling how I missed you. Strawberry taste how lips do. And it's not complete yet, mustn't get our feet wet, 'cause that leads to regret. Diving in too soon. And I'll owe this all to you, my little bird." I mumble along with the song playing softly on my iPod.
"You like Ed Sheeran?" Sam asks as we drive to this mystery place he is taking.
I grab my iPod and tap on the X album, blasting Don't. After a few seconds of that, I play Thinking Out Loud, then Nina, then I'm A Mess. "Yes," I finally put back on Little Bird and smile softly. "I love his songs, they're so perfect."
Sam smiles and grabs my hand. "I love you," He says softly, making my heart swell with emotions.
"I love you too," I smile at him and taps my foot along with the music. "Will you tell me where we are going now?"
"Nope," He smirks and gives my hand a squeeze. "Patients, young one."
"I'm older than you by three months," I remind him as I close my eyes. He chuckles, and let the music send me into a peaceful nap.
•••
"Kayd," Hands shake me from Ed Sheeran filled dreams. "Kayden, wake up baby, we're here."
I swat his hands away and grumble "Five more minutes,"
"Don't you wanna see your surprise?" He asks, making my eyes shoot open and glance around us.
My eyebrows crinkle together when I see where we are. "Our date is at... Target?" I mean... I was expecting a movie and a maybe a dinner but maybe he is planning on having sex with me in the dressing rooms?
"I wanted you to see Alex from Target," He chuckles and shakes his head. "No, stupid, our date is on the other side."
I mentally slap myself in the face as I hop out of Sam's car. My eyes widen and I feel emotions choking up in my throat as I see where our date is.
"You remembered," I whisper, my kind going back to the time when I told Sam the one place my Dad always used to take me, before he knew I was gay.
"Yeah," Sam smiles softly and looks at the Ice Skating Rink with me. "You told me how your dad used to take you ice skating when you were little whenever it was just you and him. So... I thought I would take you, because I love you and... Yeah."
My eyes start to water, not only from the memory of my father- before he was an asshole- but also because of how sweet and caring Sam is. I love my fiancé, I love him with all of my heart and I wouldn't do anything to change it.
I throw my arms around Sam's neck and hug the life out of him, tears falling onto his shoulder. "I love you," I cry. "I love you so fucking much, oh my God."
Sam laughs slightly and rubs my back soothingly. "I love you too, baby."
I let go of him and we make out way to the Ice Skating Rink. Memories flood me as we push the doors open, memories of my father before he thought of me as a worthless piece of shit.
Before horrible thoughts could push their way back into my head, I tug Sam along to go get a pair of skating shoes. We get our shoes and head onto the ice.
It feels nice to be back on the ice, the coolness of it. Sam hands me a coat I didn't notice he had and puts one on himself before grabbing my hand and pulling me along. The coat is nice and warm against the bitterness of the cold and smells faintly of Sam.
We skate for a while, just laughing and talking casually. A gift from the cliché, lovey-dovey gets dropped on us as You and I comes on. Sam takes me in his arms and we slowly spin in a circle, my head on his shoulder. "You and I," Sam sings softly in my ear. "We don't wanna be like them, we can make it to the end. Nothing can come between you and I."
I smile, remembering the time I made Sam lay with me and just listen to One Direction songs until he swore his ears fell off and he couldn't take listening to Louis Tomlinson anymore. He teased me for liking them, claiming it was the gayest thing ever, but the next day I heard Little Things playing in his room.
"I love you," He whispers, his fingers playing with my hair. "I love you so much, Kayden."
I kiss his shoulder and whisper "I love you, too," just as You and I finishes. We pull away from each other.
He places a kiss on my cheek and pulls me to the snack bar, where we grab pizzas and talk and eat, just enjoying each other.
And I can say, I have never been happier.
