   I'm curling my long, black hair.  I'm getting ready to go on a date with my steady boyfriend of two years.

"Shakayla, look!"  My best friend Raeya says as she dashes into the bathroom, showing me something on her phone screen.

"Yeah?"  I say, still looking into the mirror.  "Look!"  I look down at the screen before looking back. 

"Isn't she hot?"  Raeya says with a smile.  "Yeah, she's pretty cute."  I reply, not really interested and focused on my hair.

Raeya is a lesbian, and she always shows me girls that she thinks are cute, even though I have a boyfriend and I'm straighter than a side of a square.

"Where ya goin'?  Are you getting ready to see Keith?"  "Yeah.  We're going to the fair."  "Oh, sounds nice.  I wish I found a girl I could do that with,"  A mischievous smile covers her face.  "Y'know, Kayla, I've always pictured you being a lesbian.  Y'know, ditch ye ol' Keith and just getchu a girl."

"I can't imagine dating a girl.  Never in my wildest dreams.  Plus, Keith is a sweetie.  I could never leave him."  "Well, if things don't work out with Keith, you can always have a girl in your corner."

Raeya really is a hoot and a half.

Keith and I have played a lot of games and gone on a myriad of rides.  We're now on the ferris wheel, me holding the giant teddy bear he won for me.

"Have you been enjoying yourself, Bae?"  He questions with a smile.  I smile up at him.  "Of course, Babe.  I love you."  "I love you, too."  "We are the epitome of black love." 

We peck each other's lips.
