Well it also didn’t help that Freddy has been screaming in my head that everyone thinks he’s a woos. He said I should get on with the story so you know what happened.

Chapter 9

With Trevor’s help we got him situated on the couch. I thank him and send him on his way. I can’t believe he passed out. Does that mean he doesn’t want Kate or me. But He kissed me.

I get Kate and put her in her room. “Oh baby girl I’m so sorry it seems like you might not get a daddy after all.” She looks at me.

I nuzzle her neck and breath in her sweet baby smell. “I don’t know how anyone can look at you and not love you.” I lay her down and she goes back to sleep.

I stop off at the bathroom and search for the smelling salts. I still can’t believe he fainted. I shake my head and head down stairs.

Just when I was getting ready to bend down towards him my door gets bashed in. I look up startled and see this big ugly guy standing there.

“Who the hell are you?” I ask him.

He looks me up and down making my skin crawl. Then he looks at Freddy.

“Damn that shit I put in his food was supposed to work faster.” Then he looks at me.

“But now I’m glad it didn’t because I’m going to enjoy playing with you.” He sneers at me.

I start backing away. “Who are you?” I ask again.

“I am the brother of the guy he’s going to send up the river in 2 days. I figured I’d take him out before I took out the bitch that accused my little brother.” He tells me.

Oh my God, does that mean he came and didn’t know about Kate. I turn to look at him still out on the couch. Shit I have my rifle upstairs if I can make it there I’ll blow his ass out of here. How dare he come into my house threatening me and mine.

I make a run for it and feel him yank my head back as he manages to reach my hair. I scream in pain as I collide with his chest. “Where do you think your going bitch. I just got here. Didn’t anyone ever tell you. You have to be nice to the guests.” He whispers in my ear, making bile come up my throat.

Oh God I’m to young to die. I don’t want his yucky paws on me. Oh no what about Kate. Think, think Janet what can we do to get out of this.

“Hey I know if what you want is revenge don’t you think it would make sense of you do me while Freddy watches, then you can kill him.” I tell him.

He looks at me confused. “Sorry I just get turned on by strong men.” I tell him and he smile

Oh man I’m hoping he still has the same reaction he had with me. I hold my breath as he strolls over to wake Freddy up. Just as I expected his reflexes kick in and he grabs the guy by the neck. I watch in horror as the guy starts to run out of breath. I’m torn between helping him and not.

I finally decide to help the guy and Freddy starts to wake up. He sees the guy in his hands passed out now from lack of oxygen. He shoots up off the couch “what the hell happened.” He asked me.

I look at him “I asked you how you knew about our daughter and then you fainted. I thought it was just because of the news. Then this jerk broke down my door. Threatening to hurt me and kill you and some lady who is accusing his brother.” I explained to him.

He stood there with his mouth open. “I know crazy huh” I told him.

“We have a daughter? But I’m sterile.” He says.

“Well guess the doctors were wrong because the proof is laying in her crib upstairs.” I tell him.

He throws the guy down on the floor and then he removed his cuffs from his back pocket and handcuffs the guy. Who is still passed out at his feet.

He walks towards me in slow motion as if he fears I would run away. “Please repeat what you just said. I think I’m hearing things.” He tells me.

I look at him “that night we had sex we made a baby. Her name is Kate.” I tell him and his eyes fill with tears.

“You named her after my mom?” He asked.

“Yes I figured that even though you would never know about her. Your mom would know in heaven and she would protect her along with my mom.” I tell him.

He wraps me up in a big hug. “Why didn’t you call me and tell me about the baby?”

“Because I told you it was a one time deal and I would take full responsibility for any outcome.” I remind him.

“I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind all this time Janet I love you and can’t stand not being with you. Now I find out I have a daughter. I can’t tell you how happy you just made me.” He tells me.

I pulled myself off of him.

“I will admit that I too thought about you all this time. I even down played what happened that morning.” I looked at the guy still passed out on the floor and I shudder.

“But I can’t do this, you scare me.” I tell him.

Freddy’s POV

I see her backing away from me and my heart starts to break. She just told me I scare her. I can’t believe I did it again. I look at the guy laying on the floor and I can see her point. Even though it kills me. I can get why she is scared.

“Janet I love you and I love my little girl and I haven even meet her yet. I have never sought out help for all my nightmares and memory lose. But if it means I get to keep you and my baby girl I’ll do it. Please tell me you’ll give me an opportunity to change.” I ask her.

I kneel before her a broken man “I love you and I want you to marry me. I’m sorry I didn’t look for you sooner. But after what I did to you that morning I felt like a scum bag. Patrick said it was bad. He has also told me I should get help but I never wanted to. Please tell me you’ll consider it?” I ask her.

She looks down at me and there are tears streaming down her face and we then hear some one come in.

“What the hell is going on her” I turn around to see Mike , Luis and Leo standing there.

Mike walked over to us. “It was you, you got her pregnant and never even looked back.” He yanked me off the ground and before I could respond he punched me in the face,

I didn’t even put up a fight. I deserved it not for the sex thing but for choking her. Oh man what are they going to do when they find out about that. I fell back and Janet ran to me.

“What the hell Mike.” She screamed at him as she helped me up.

“Who’s that?” asked Leo pointing at the guy on the floor.

“He can here looking for Freddy and he was going to kill us” I tell him.

Then I turn in time to see Luis punch Freddy. “You son of a bitch, you lead danger to our home and our family.”

“Stop it, stop it right now” Janet yelled.

“I’ll get Freddy cleaned up while you guys go make some tea. I you guys hit him one more time I’ll bringing out the riffle.” I glare at them as I help Freddy up the stairs.

Luis walks towards me “I’m not leaving you alone with that animal.” He says as he gets closer.

Just then the girls walk in and take in all the anger. Lucy turns to Casey “see I told you it was Freddy.” she smirks then looks at Luis.

“Go sit down with your brothers and leave the poor girl alone.” she tells him and then winks at me.

I helped Freddy up to my bathroom and sat him on the toilet while I got the first aid kit and patched him up. He wrapped his arms around my waist and put his forehead on my stomach.

“I really messed things up by not looking for you didn’t I?” He asked.

I put my hand on his head “I guess I could have called you” I said.

“What do we do now?” he asked me.

“Well for now we go back down stairs before the body guards come up and try to beat on you again. Thanks for not hitting back.” she tells me.

“I love you Janet.” I tell her and I see her eyes mist. But she turns without answering me.

“Would you like to meet your daughter”

I get up fast “yes please” I say and follow her out of the bathroom and into this room that is painted lavender with a prairie painted on the wall. I turn and my breath catches in my throat when I see it has the Chicago sky line on that wall.

“I figured she would like to see where her daddy lives.” she whispers.

I turn to the crib and walk very slowly to it. I could hear her breathing. When I looked at the tinny little thing my heart filled to the point I had to physically clutch my chest.

She was beautiful, so tinny “she has my mothers blond hair” I whisper.

Her little eyes opened and I was a goner “Oh My God she has her blue eyes also.” I felt my legs start to give way when I felt a strong set of arms keep me up. I turned to see Mike “yeah my daughter knocked me on my ass the first time I saw her too.” he tells me.

I look around and notice Janet wasn’t there any more. “This was to much for her, she sent me to make sure you guys were ok.” he tells me.

“I love her Mike but how can I prove to her I’m the man for her?” I ask him.

“Well what happened man. I mean she is my cousin and all but she’s a good looking woman. Why did you let her just walk away?” he asked as he lifted my daughter out of the crib and placed her in my arms.

I was speechless for a moment as I felt the soft bundle in my arms. “Not like that hold her like this.” Mike told me as he helped me find a better position.

I started to tell him about what happened. When I got to that morning I saw him tense. “You should be happy your holding baby Kate or I would punch your lights out again.”

“Believe me I would let you. I told her I would get help. I want to marry her and have my family with me.” I tell him.

“You want to take them to Chicago?” Mike asked.

“I don’t know where I just want them. The where I don’t care about.” I tell him.

“Well then how much time do you have? Because I think you should stick around and get the help you need and win her over.” he tells me.

I look at him “you offering me a job?” I ask him.

He shrugs “Show her you can change and be what she’s always wanted. Her very own cowboy.” he tells me.

I smile at him and cringe. The guys are never going to let me live this down.
