Chapter 10

Freddy’s POV

I walked back down stairs holding my daughter. Oh my God my daughter. I love the sound of that. I see Janet wipe a tear from her eyes. “My daughter wanted to know where her mother had run off to” I tell her.

She looks at me so torn up, my chest hurt. “Did anyone call the cops, so they can pick up this scum bag?” Mike asked.

“Yeah Sam did” Leo tells us.

“Well guess what guys? I just hired us another ranch hand. Seems Freddy’s going to work for us while he tries to win Janet back so he can marry her and give this little lady a proper family.” Mike tells everyone.

“Really” Luis glares at me.

“Hey cool it there, the guy didn’t know she had a baby till I spilled the beans at the baby shower.” Mike tells them.

Janet walked over to me and took the baby from my arms.

“Mike said he would go with me to see a specialist about my problem. He’s even willing to give you report on my progress. All I ask of you is for you to let me be around the baby and you.” I plead with her.

She looks at me and I could see she was struggling with herself. But then she looked at the baby and then she agreed. “Ok I guess the least we can do is give you a chance right Kate.” I swear my daughter looked at me and smiled.

I‘m going to need to go back to Austin tomorrow, the court date is in 2 days. Then I’ll go back to Chicago to let the other guys know what’s going on. I’ll get what I need form there. Tomorrow is Monday so if it’s ok with you Mike we can go find a place for me to get help and leave everything settled before I go.” I tell them and then I turn to look at Janet who’s now looking at me in disbelief.

“Would you go with me to Chicago? I would love for you to meet my friends. There the only family I have.” I tell her.

She turns to look at her cousins. Luis is still glaring at me but Mike and Leo and all the girls seem happy for us. “I think you should go Janet.” Leo tells her.

She then turns to me “Um ok Freddy I’ll go” she tells me and I lean in and kiss her. And then kiss the baby’s head.

The police arrive and we fill out the report and get things taken care of so I don’t have to go down to the station. Then when they leave Luis asked. “Where are you staying tonight?”

I looked at Janet. “I guess I can go find a hotel?” I tell her hopping she will ask me to stay.

“Well I don’t see why you can’t stay here, I have a spare bedroom and you can see the baby more.” She tells me and my heart starts to pound hard.

“Oh Hell no he’s not staying here!” Luis says all mad.

“Come on big boy looks like it’s bed time for you” Lucy tells Luis then she turns to me.

“Sorry seems like he had to much fun today, poor things over stimulated.” Luis glares at her.

“Janet’s been teaching you to much of this Early Childhood stuff.” Luis tells her.

They all come and kiss the baby and Janet goodnight.

“We’ll see you in the morning about 5:30am so I can start showing you what farm life is all about.” Mike smirks as he tells me.

Oh crap what did I just get myself into. I think but then my eyes land on my girls. Damn this is going to be so worth it. I walk over to Janet and give her another kiss. When I pull away I hear her sigh.

“I am so sorry you had to go through the pregnancy alone. I would have loved to have seen you. I can’t imagine you having my baby growing in your body fills me with a joy I will never know.” I tell her.

“I have pictures” she tells me.

She pulls out a scrap book she made that has pictures of every stage of her pregnancy. She looked even hotter then she does now. I look at her and can’t help the fluttering I feel in my heart. She then pulls out an album with the sonogram picture and then all the pictures she’s taken of her.

Wow she was a tinny little thing. Smaller then she is now. My favorite is one of her in a pink Santa suite.

We talked about how her dad took the news and about his marriage. I’m happy she had her old man helping and supporting her. It should have been me. I can’t help the slight anger of her denying me that.

We say good night and I go to the room she assigned me. I pulled out my cell and called Patrick. “Holy shit man you are never going to believe this.” I tell him.

“What happened?” He asked not even guessing. Well it’s not like he would have anyway.

“Well first off I was drugged by the brother of the scum bag I came to put away..” I tell him

“Holy shit what happened?” Patrick asked.

“Wait that’s not even the big news. I came looking for Janet. Turns out that night I spent with her left something behind. Well let’s just say she’s a month old and her name is Kate.” I tell him.

“Holy shit no way” he screams.

I spend over an hour telling him what happened and about my baby. I told him I was going to stay here for a while after I got back to wrap some thing up. He didn’t bitch at all.

2 Days Later….

So I took care of everything I had to and now I’m back to pick up My girls and head for the airport. I phoned the guys and Amy Lu so everything would be ready for them. Poor Jim had to stay with Patrick till we leave. I want Janet to feel comfortable.

“You ready to leave honey?” I ask her.

I have been calling her that for the past 2 days. I need her to understand that I am not going anywhere. I am here for the long haul. Just the fact that I had to be away from them this morning was killing me. I swear my little lady grew while I was gone.

We boarded the plain a Janet and I talked all the way to Chicago. The flight seemed to have taken no time at all. When we landed Patrick and Amy Lu were there waiting for us.

“Hi Patrick nice to see you again” Janet tells him.

“Well I hear congratulations are in order.” He tells her making her blush.

“Oh my God she’s gorgeous” Amy Lu gushes at the baby.

“This is our secretary Amy Lu, This is the mother of my baby Janet.” I tell her.

Amy Lu takes the baby from Janet and I help to the car. We drive to my place and Jim and Sam are waiting there. When we walk in they are so surprised to see the baby.. “Oh wow she is a tinny thing isn’t she” cooed Sam.

Jim just looked on in awe he’s the tougher of us all so I’m sure he’s just trying to be manly.

We have dinner that Amy Lu cooked and talk about the cases that are going on. “So any new one’s while I was gone? I asked.

“Well as a matter of fact yes we got a couple of them but we’ll talk later. Why don’t we take care of the baby and you can take Janet down town to see the Buckingham Fountain.” Patrick tells me.

“I don’t know if she’ll leave the baby with people she doesn’t know.” I tell him.

She hears what I answer Patrick and turns to look at us. Then Amy Lu speaks up. “ Oh the big jerk won’t be alone I’ll stay and help take care of the little princess. My brother has 2 rug rats and my sister has 3. I grew up babysitting all the time since I’m the younger of the three.” She says.

“Oh Lord that explains this everyone has to do what I say and cater to me attitude.” Patrick says rolling his eyes.

“Listen here Mister. I’ve had you on your back more times than I can count. You really want to add one more to my list.” Amy Lu says glaring at Patrick who backs away from her.

I turn to see Janet’s face turn red. “Oh God no honey not like that. I’m a black belt and have had to flip his ass a couple of times to show him that yeah I might be petite. But I pack quite a punch.” Amy Lu says as she laughs at the faces Patrick was making as he mimicked her talking.

Yup I give then no more than a week before their doing the Horizontal hula.

“I guess we can leave Kate with them for a while but I breast feed so I’m going to have to pump some milk so I can leave a bottle for her.” She tells me.

Oh man I thought her breasts look gloriously fuller. I look down at her chest and she blushes again as I feel my little friend harden painfully.

I talk shop with the guys as she goes to pump. “You have to be gentle with this one” Sam says.

“I like her she’s sweet plus she gave you something you thought you would never have.” He said kissing Kate on the head.

“Um I don’t want to be the ass here but, how can you be sure it’s yours?” Jim asked.

I was ready to punch his lights out when Janet came back into the room. “He can have a paternity test done to prove it’s his. If that will make you happy. I have nothing to hide. I’ve only been with 2 men in my life. My ex who was a scum bag and Freddy.” She looked at me weird.

Damn that hurt. I might not be a scum bag but I did go psycho on her.

“I’m sorry I had no right to question your honesty but I’ve been around to many women who would do this in a heart beat.” Jim tells her.

“Well Honey seems you’ve been around the wrong women” Amy Lu tells him.

“Yeah guess I have” he says clearing his throat.
