Paperback
It pokes at the mind like
needle and thread
The opening is thinner and more complex
than the first impression
That's what they are, first impressions
judging an unopened book by its cover
a ticket to a trip to nowhere
in particular, that is.
It might send you to a small hut
on a deserted island
in the middle of a raging sea.
Or it might just send you to a quiet cabin
in a silent forets clearing
the animals watching you from the
shadows.
Sometimes I wish that first impressions
could stay that way and not evolve,
teleport, or transform me
or the other person.
They say not to judge a book
by its cover
but there are some absolutely beautiful
covers with the most horrid
insides.
