Chapter Five: Delinquents Like Youself Have So Much to Learn From the Art of...... Make Up.

JEFF'S POINT OF VIEW

Three Months went by so quickly like a running cheetah, and today it was Friday. Which means Red's seventeenth birthday is in two days time.

Our friendship is getting better and better, so far it seemed fascinating to finally know what it feels to look forward in seeing somebody.

In Christmas, she became ill and caught a fever (which was before the day we had a snow ball fight) and she made the servants bring her half of the feast on her room while her family and relatives celebrate downstairs. Which, by means, Red and I spent our Christmas together eating and watching films in her room.

As for New Year's, Red refused to go with her parents in New York to celebrate New Year's and stayed with me. Of course, she has a couple of maids staying too but they never had the guts disturbed her. Oh wait, I mean us. The fireworks were fascinating though. And we both had a contest in who could eat the most food. I won it, obviously. She couldn't finish the salad. I'm surprised we both didn't get fat.

After that, let's say I enjoyed hearing Red's moans and groans about not wanting to go back to school now that she was enjoying non school days with me. ("Jeff, school's tomorrow! I don't want to go!". "Red, you have to,". "Oh wait, I think I'm developing a fever,". "No Red, not buying it. ". "Aw, Jeff!"). She said that before we met, she despised staying at her house. But not anymore since she has her house buddy now.

Washington's police force seemed to relax and assumed that I moved to another state because I didn't kill as often as before. Mainly a jogger or two but they came to the conclusion that it's just a normal street murder or something. Excluding the birthday parties I crashed and raided.

Speaking of birthday parties, Valentine's day is the day before Red's birthday. Which is tomorrow. Shit, I became preoccupied with her birthday, I didn't even realize Valentine's Day is tomorrow! I really hope no one asked her out or I'll be flipping my shit.

"Jeff! "

Speak of the devil and she shall appear. Oh, wait. Let me rephrase that, think of the angel and she shall appear. Wait, I don't think an Angel is enough to describe her, Goddess might be the right word.

"Hey Red, " I greeted, walking along with her from her walk down the street. "How's school, princess? "

"Not much," she shrugged carelessly, "A couple guys asked me out on a... air quote... 'Blind Date'. "

I suddenly tensed my face burning of irritation, because damn, I wished she didn't say yes. "Did you answer to any of them? "

Her smile stretched wider. "No, because I want to spend tomorrow with you! " she exclaimed, her fake black irises glimmering with excitement. I became excited, preventing myself from squealing like a girl. She really wants to spend tomorrow with me? My irritation and jealousy got replaced with excitement and relief. The things this girl do to me, really.

"Wait what? How will you exactly do that? " I asked just as the mansion's gate came into view. The building is decorated in red sashes and roses, along with little hanging Cupids around the railings.

She opened the gate saying, "Magic. "

"Whatever you say, princess, " I said, shaking my head, "I'll just meet you upstairs. "

~~

"How would you take me out in broad daylight without people screaming and police sirens disturbing our, let's say... Friendly Date? " I frantically asked, dropping my hands on my white hoodie. "It's not everyday you see a blind girl taking a boy with an obliterated smile with a slightly bloodied hoodie out. Because as you know, some stains on my clothes are permanent and near impossible to take off. "

She sighed, fixing her hair and tangling it free from the braid that once held them, "Just leave the problems to me, Jeff. You don't have to worry about your appearance. I always have a plan. " She chuckled, "Besides, delinquents like you have so much to learn from the art of....... make up. "

"That's some girly shit, " I grumbled while laying down her bed and covering a pillow over my face.

"Well, I am a girl, Jeff. "

"Fair point, " I pointed out. Oh look, pointing out a point. How ironic.

I sat up, not taking anymore scent of strawberry and vanilla from Red's pillow. There I saw Red slowly making her way towards a crimson red door with white daisies, opening it to reveal a walk in wardrobe. I also went in, finding her counting all the racks.

"How can you get a clothing when you can't see? " I asked, because this is the first time I ever observed her while searching for some clothes.

She replied, "The power of Numbers, Jeff. Same as walking. "

"Oh, so you're a mathematician now? "

"Always been, Jeff, " she laughed.

"Oh Yeah? Well what is the square root of Pi? " I asked her not really knowing the answer. I know it's terrible for me to ask a question when I don't know the answer but at least I tested her right?

But almost instantly she answered, "22/7."

"Okay, you win. Don't get all numerical with me, it gives me headaches, " I stated, making my way towards the bedroom and dumping my body on the bed.

She came back chuckling, "You brought it on yourself. Don't blame me. Anyway, here," she said, tossing me what seemed to be a plaid button down shirt and an open hoodie, along with a black leather jacket. "You'll be wearing this tomorrow. "

"Wait, this is a male's. Where did you get this? " I growled, the thought of another man in Red's room acted like flame and it made my blood boil.

"Relax, Jeff. It's mine," I gave her a look even though she can't see it. But she shrugged, saying, "I bought it last week for you. So technically, it's yours. "

The hoodie is green with a bit of grey, and the leather jacket is grey. How the hell is this supposed to cover my identity?

"So, " she chimed, "My parents are off to Orlando for their business trip, and they'll come home on my birthday. So do you want to have a sleepover? "

"A what? " I replied bluntly.

In truth, I know what a sleepover is. It just sounded girly and it's what girls mostly do. Yeah, I want to stay here with her. But the thing is... her scent is so disturbing. I mean, not the vanilla part but the strawberry one. It makes my stomach churn, literally.

"You know, you could sleep here. It's lonely here considering my bed is the size of two average dining tables. Plus, the earlier we can get ready for tomorrow, the better. "

I groaned, "You're so smart, it hurts! "

"So what do you say? " she asked with a slight giggle escaping her lips. Quite cute, actually.

"Yeah, okay.... only if you'd give me waffles, " I demanded. Yes, I've had a thing with waffles recently. At first I want it plain, but then Red forced me to try them with chocolates. Long story short, there isn't a single time when I visit her and not eat a single waffle. Which is, everyday.

She smiled, after reaching her hand out as if to touch something, and finally smiled in triumph when her hand got a hold of something, which is the intercom.

Pressing it, she said, "Hey, Mariette?"

"Miss Roxanne, can I help you? " A voice said back.

"Can you bring a plate of waffles and a jar of nutella? Also some strawberries and ice cream, Thank you!....Oh and knock before you enter... "

"Yes, Miss Roxanne, I'll send it to you in 5. "

"Thank you, " she ended the conversation and turned to me, "So, since it's only seven, do you want to watch more Disney's? We can scatter all the pillows around the bed and sit in the strangest ways possible. "

I smiled, my grin stretching wider, "You know me too well, Roxanne. Minus the Disney part. "

~~

A few fights later and Red trying shoving a strawberry at my face (Red says something about appreciating the beauty of nature's bounty but I ignore it), we finally settled on watching The Little Mermaid. And currently, I'm telling her about the part where Ariel (that's her name right? ) turns human but in return she became mute.

Also, Red's head is resting on my stomach while she lay horizontally, and my feet hung up on the headboard, leaving my head dangling on the other side.

"So... did Eric recognise her? " she trailed off.

"No, the guy has a bewildered look on his face, " I replied.

"What about her father? "

"The big guy? He doesn't know shit. "

When suddenly, she asked the question I didn't expect and couldn't answer, "What if somebody offers me the gift of sight, but then in return, they'll have my soul? "

"You... you're not gonna accept the offer, would you? " I asked, shifting the both of us so we're laying like normal people once again. Not that we were normal...

"I don't know..... " She whispered, "But that's why I watch Disney movies, Jeff. In it's plot or twist, it gives me hope that maybe there's another chance for me getting my sight back. It....gives me hope that maybe I'll.... actually live like a normal person, " she paused, only the background of the audio from the movie surrounding us. "And if that chance comes,... I'll take it. "

"What if in return, you loose everyone you love? " I asked quietly, my eyes pinned on hers. The blue and violet seemed to glow because of the television's radiation.

Her lips twitched, "I don't know.... I'll have to see. I mean, nobody would care about me. I loose them but they don't care less about my pain. My parents... they'll cry and mourn... but they'll forget me like they always do because of work. Nobody cares, Jeff. "

Her voice cracked, and I reached my hand out to run my fingers down her red locks. She always do that whenever I want to kill those bullies of hers. And basically, it calmed me down. Not sure if this works on her, though.

Finally I had the decency to speak, "You're wrong Red, " I said in a voice barely above a whisper while turning my attention to the movie. "I care. "

[Author's Note: I think it's a bit shorter than usual, what do you think? I typed this on my phone so I'm oblivious to the size. ]
