Prologue
It all started at my first Convention on my Fifteenth birthday. That's the day all of our lives changed. That's the day that all of humanity faded into the fairy tales...
The date was February 28, 20××. My grandparents had finally let me go to an anime convention with my best friend, Ran. It took days of begging, making promises, and creating my cosplay. Now, Ran and I, along with her older sister, were roaming around the crowed place.
"This is so amazing!!! Thank you soooooo much, Ran!" I exclaimed looking back at her. She was wearing the cosplay for Edward from the popular anime Fullmetal Alchemist, she was decked out with a blonde braided wig over her boy short brown hair, wore the red robes, even had a fake automail arm and leg. The only thing she didn't have right was her height: she was 3 inches too tall.
"I'm surprised your grandma let you go, Rose," she commented, looking at the DDR stall we were at with mild intrest. I nodded in agreement.
My grandparents didn't like idea of what people wore in anime and cosplay, so they were very anti me-going-to-an-anime-convention. But this time, the reluctantly let me go. However, since it was really last minute, I didn't have enough time to make a traditional cosplay, so I pulled out a casual cosplay that I wore for Halloween a few months ago- an Oc named Rohana Liserli. Actually, she was a character I had sketched out for a story I was writing.
I heard some noise over to my right. I saw a large stage with some people gathered around it. I recognized it from some YouTube videos I had watched.
"Hey Ran, I think I already found the Cosplay Skits! Wanna watch?" I asked. However, before she could reply, the lights went pitch black. Which was pretty dark, since it was winter and the sun had already set.
Everyone started talking and freaking out. I pulled out my phone, much like the others in the vicinity by the sounds of ruffling of cloth. I felt for the one button, and clicked it. However, it didn't turn on, even after I held it down for over 10 seconds. That's odd. I know it was fully charged... I thought to myself. I looked in Ran's direction and I could tell she was having the same problem.
"No luck?" I still asked.
"Nope," she confirmed.
I heard some level-headed people call out from various locations not to worry, it is just a temporary blackout, that type of thing. But I ignored their words. I heard something faintly, a voice. I tilted my head left to right, like one might so to their phone when they have bad cell service. Then-
The humans wandered around, as if to find some light in this darkness.
"You mean that they can't see in the dark?"
Yes, they cannot, at least not without some human-made devices.
"That's insane! What happened next, Momma?"
Well, then-
"Ugg!" My head suddenly erupted with pain. I fell to my knees, clutching my head. What the head? What was that-? I looked up at the sudden light coming from in front of me, wincing. The faces of the crowd was illuminated with a surreal red, all with varying degrees of fear and terror on them.
And we all watched as the Earth was hit by a thousand meteorites.
